I really like that explanation of pulling the carp up through the layers of water without doing it straight above them. I didn’t realise I had been doing it wrong. Makes sense now.
Really enjoyed that! Andy is a great addition to the Preston/Sonu team - a proper character that really adds some fun to the video aswell as being a bit useful on the fishes 🐟
Great video Andy. Always enjoy your tips n tricks and your craziness 😂 I fished micros and expanders last week I have the X200 didn’t use my dolly butt and didn’t get any bites then shipped out with my dolly butt at 13m and got more bites and float thumped under. Used a F1 maggots 4x14 strung out had 4 carp one skimmer 😀
Hi, Andy. Great to see your debut video with Preston and Sonu. I’d just like to ask if you feed generously to start off with or just start negatively? I automatically think I need to get a load of bait in to begin with to attract the fish especially in a match. Thanks.
Feeding negatively at the start is almost always the way to go. Just a small grape sized ball of micros with a couple of grains of corn is all that was introduced on each line initially. You can always feed again if required but at this time of year feeding a large amount of bait in one go is only ever a last resort. You're fishing for one fish at a time so the amount I feed reflects that.
a lot of brilliant information there Andy, and you are not waffling on you are telling us what you are doing, good that you haven't changed coz you have new toy's, so keep it up, but would like to see you in a match so we can see you in a serious mode, lol, thank you mate, 👍
I stopped using hollows as soon as i tryed hybrid elastics, I had to change my elastic 6-8 times a year with hollows and now i only change the hybrids once a year as they are so hard wearing .
Great episode Andy. Love your enthusiasm and " I don't miss bites" feels like your selling the brand more with Preston though. Where did you get your ' fishy' flask from? Anyway cool episode, love your personality and kee' em coming.
Am i missing something? Whats the point of doing little balls of micros so they end up on the deck, while using the tapered, strungy out, through the water rig? If youre targeting the carps wouldnt it be better to use say, 4X14 wire stem, bulk and 2, 'on the flop', to get quickly down to the deck and punch through the babby roaches and skimmers?
If small silverfish were a problem then a positive bulk down style shotting may be beneficial. But when they're not a problem a rig that allows for a better fall of the hookbait will result in more bites. The shot are still all in the bottom third of the rig so it is still getting down to that depth quickly it's just not so crude as a fixed bulk or spread bulk above the hooklength.
Hey Andy & Sonu - what depths are you fishing at please? My local commercial is about 7ft deep at the bottom of the nearside slope. Would Andy still use a 4x12 f1 maggot in 7ft of water?
Hi Simon, This particular lake was five and a half feet deep but upwards of 5feet this tactic works well. In 7ft a 4x14 or 4x16 would be preferred especially if using pellets or corn as hookbait where you can be positive and pin your bait down. 👌🏼
@@Sonubaits many thanks for your reply. So in 7ft these same tactics can be applied but with a slightly heavier float with same shotting pattern and feeding?
@@simonbriscoe8324 yes definitely. We also do a Stiki 4mm pellet so if the fishing is particularly good or taegeting big carp you could choose to feed those in the same way instead. Its all about pinning your bait to the bottom to avoid the fish intercepting it on the way down which can cause problems lile fpul hooking fish. 👌🏼
On an individual cast you could argue the attraction of an additive could help draw a fish from further away or grab their attention better. But accuracy and building a peg up will help with getting bites quickly and ultimately result in more fish during a session.
Hi Rob, Yes, this is a good way of moderating how much you are feeding and combined with the Stiki Method Pellets would make a nice little ball of pellets that would get to the bottom and break up in a tight area. As you say, they larger ones can be used as it warms up on days where the fish want lots of feed.
Andy May just explains everything so well with a bit of humour along the way so sum up Andy just Brilliant
Brilliant as usual, fun and educational, Preston and Sonubaits have dropped lucky 😀
As enthusiastic and mad as ever Andy must be the banoffee. Love it, brilliant.

@@Sonubaits belgium it was hard to find last year mabe brexit?
@@ghostrot yes, Brexit made it difficult to export. Bait is over there now with more and more ranges sent every week 👌
Which pole bung do use use in the new x90 please.

Hi Could you put your hook bait in the small ball of micro pellets.
In theory yes, if you knew bites were going to take a little while you could pot it in like you would paste.
@@Sonubaits think I will give it a try. Thanks for the quick response.
Is 2m pellets called micros.

Can flavours etc compensate in anyway for a lack of accuracy in casting thankyou?

Would the Preston small size Quick Cone Mould BLUE create same size ball every time, then up to med/large as fish become more confident ?

I use this method with liquidised bread in winter on canals, a lot more accurate.
Great video but unable to see the float being laid in
As mad as a box of frogs. LoL
Why not mould your pellets around the sweetcorn ensuring you fish over your bait?
Come on the poplar carp
What skid bung is Andy using... Great vid he's as nutty as a fruitcake
No translation !! Pity. Hello from France.
But yeah no… :)
