As an actual Bournemouth fan, Solanke is an excellent footballer. He’s strong, quick, intelligent, technically very decent, presses extremely well, and has a fantastic work ethic. I imagine he’ll be the perfect striker in Ange’s system. They clearly have no clue about how Bournemouth play, because once the system was bedded in we were statistically one of the top 5 teams in the league lol. Our entire style of play is very similar to Tottenham’s, and at points was better even. Worth every Penny of that transfer fee.
Exactly this, he got a lot of his goals under iraola too, the whole team was pretty bad for the whole start of the season and picked up halfway through. Solanke has the best pressing stats in the league for a centre forward and they're questioning that part of his game hahaha
Having Solanke will also open up opportunities for other players to score. Now other teams cant concentrate just on Son. So its not just about Solanke scoring a butt load of goals to justify the &65mil. If other players are scoring due to teams having to account for Solanke and Spurs are winning. Then $65mil was well worth it. Its on Ange to tweak his system now that other teams are on to him and fix the F'n set pieces!!!
@@SmashPhysical that was at Bournemouth. Spurs have a different style of play. If you can still attack high with 10 men I don't see why Solanke will be asked to continue with that part of his game. Anyway I'm an arsenal fan so I'm only hating

£65m for a homegrown talent (homegrown tax), aged 26, knows the premier league, had a very good last season at Bournemouth, will be playing with better calibre of players, very attacking football, Ange as manager, like others said helps son, kulu, Johnson, madders, bergvall get more chances, more space. I think it will work out for him. I also think £65m for a striker isn’t that much these days. How much was Hojlund £72m not proven in the PL. Toney I think was off the table as soon as Brentford’s replacement striker got injured, let’s see if he goes still, his attitude/betting issues would be off putting for levy. We were linked with David, Gimenez, Gyokeres etc all unproven in the PL and all would be more expensive, so what’s the bigger risk?
We spent 60 million on richarlison and he's scored13 goals in 2 season... 11 of them last season... along as solanke scores more than 11 goals this season... hes an upgrade on richarlison
I get the feeling with the ange system, the right number 9 will benefit immensly. Harry kane scored 4 in his last game for spurs under ange in preseason
This is 100% right. We needed a player that presses hard, finishes off opportunities and ideally has a physical presence. I think Solanke was the right guy for our system. Many pundits are obsessed with the big name signing and they don’t really pay attention to systems. They just want star power. Ange doesn’t care about star power at all. It’s just about whether the guy can kick the ball in the net and works hard ⚪️👍
The price is the price, dictated by the market and what a club is willing to pay, who cares. Which player isn’t a gamble - go and get an overseas player who may never settle in the PL, so less risk than that. Solanke is a pressing machine, can run in behind, can create space for a CAM, Johnson and Werner hit balls across the 6 yard box and Solanke will be perfect for that.
Ange has always wanted players for his system, and Solanke fits that mould for the type of striker he is looking for. He likes to press high (I think he was right up there for that last season) which is exactly how Ange sets up, and he loves to be within the width of the 18 yard box - I lost count the number of times last season we (Spurs) had great crossing positions but NOBODY in the box to convert - if we can serve Solanke with a chunk of those opportunities that's a good 5-10 goals right there. Is it expensive? Yes - but that is the state of the market these days, and especially English players it's an additional premium. If he flops and only bags 5-10 goals all season then it can be viewed as a bad signing, but honestly I think he'll surprise a lot of people.
@Mchelsea2924 I'd rather support Wycombe Wanderers than Chelsea. Zero History, pathetic fan base with Zero ball knowledge and literally bought their way to success. Your "team" will crumble this year - remember this at the end of the season. Don't worry, I'll remind you 😉
Spurs had to buy an English striker - they need to meet the Premier league quota. It was therefore either Solanke or Toney (and Brentford suddenly needed Toney to stay); with Toney having rumours of a spikey personality it was Solanke or nothing. They simply had to buy him and they had to pay the price required.
Of course it's a good signing. Any proven PL experienced striker is generally a good signing, overpriced or not, Ange wanted him and he got him thats all that matters
It won't just be Solanke either, Odobert will add some quality there as well. BJ will really need to find some form to get a start. Competition among the players is just what Spurs need & vital for the Euro fixtures.

Unfortunately, all of Graham’s info was wrong or misleading. Bournemouth under Iraola allowed him to press (where he was the best pressing forward in the PL last year) and he thrived. This move to Spurs is a continuation of that, not a change. His goal scoring record over his history in the premier league conveniently includes all the games he played at Liverpool behind Salah, Mane, and Firmino at their peaks.
