MOST Successful Route on Kilimanjaro | Northern Circuit Route Part I
Вставка
- Опубліковано 9 лют 2025
- Mount Kilimanjaro is not only Africa’s tallest peak, but it is also the world’s tallest free standing mountain. The summit, named Uhuru Point, is 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level and in this video we take you through the first 4 days of our 9 Northern Circuit Trek.
We are blown away by the diversity of the trek. Each day on the mountain brings something new and different... new scenery, new challenges, new connections and friendships and a new appreciation and respect for the mountain.
A HUGE thanks to Trek2Kili and our entire team who made this adventure possible. We truly could not have done it without the 12 AMAZING members of our mountain crew who helped us with every aspect, every day on the mountain!

I loved the confessional!
Can't wait for the rest of this series. You guys are great. Those porters are amazing.
Thanks so much! We are working on part II right now! (Still in Tanzania on Mafia Island so not the best WIFI but we promise it will be soon! 😜)
How fun! I love your comments at the end of each day. And those views! Can't wait to see the next half of the trek!
I was in South Africa many years ago and fell in love with it. So beautiful. As beautiful as it is, the African people are really what make even that much more beautiful. So much heart.
Thanks so much for watching!! ☺️😍
Amazing! Love the clear nights with full moon!
😍😍
amazing video. I will join the northern circuit next week

Your guides are amazing, I love their smiles and positivity & hospitality. You’re certainly making the most of 2021. What an adventure the trek is very special. I like your honest sum up of each day. I’m traveling vicariously through your journey!
Thanks so much Karen! Hope you are doing well!! ☺️😍☺️
@@WaypointofView thanks I’m doing well! Can’t travel overseas yet but I’m heading up to far North Queensland. Looking forward to watching what you have planned this year :)
This was amazing! You both are really something great. Love that you took off your hat at the end! I’ve definitely had that kind of hair before 😂! Such a neat experience to watch!! -Sam
Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words! ☺️😍 And LOL the hair... I was very hesitant for Myles to include that in the video but he convinced me it was a good idea. Jury is still out. 😂😂
A crazy awesome journey. We are with you all the way or at least we feel like it. You are doing a wonderful journey that we could never do so we are happy we get to travel along with you. A crew of 12 along the way and how great can that be.
Thanks so much for the support and encouragement.. we really appreciate you guys following along!! ☺️❤️☺️
So beautiful video, full
Thanks so much for watching!
AWESOME!!!
Thanks so much!
Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm planning in doing it next Dec/Jan. Did you hire Trek2Kili remotely or went shopping for porters when you arrived in Tanzania? Thanks
We reserved everything with them in advance. Hope you have a great trip!
Great video. I'll be doing my route in 2 weeks 7 days. January 1, 2022 I will hit the summit.
Awesome!! Best of luck and happy trekking!
So surreal to see the treks almost overgrown and so few people due to the pandemic...... I did the hike before the pandemic and treks were like 1,5m wide and there were huge crowds of tourists and porters/guides....
Oh wow, which route did you do?
@@WaypointofView I did the 7 day machame trek. Started 2nd feb 2020. Great experience, great food, guides and porters.
What a great video, thanks for sharing. I'm planning to climb Kilimanjaro in June. I'm thinking of just using my GoPro and my for phone for pictures/video. I'm curious how was your battery life and how many batteries you used, what sort of portable power bank you used?
Thanks so much for watching!! Do you know route your planning to do yet? At some of the lower camps on our route they had USB charging capabilities and if I remember correctly we used this 2-3 times to get everything charged throughout the trek.
I would definitely check with your trekking company to see if this will be an option on your route. If not it’ll be pretty tough to keep everything charged the whole time. Do you have spare GoPro batteries. We brought 4 GoPro batteries and 5 batteries for our XT3.
We use these charger banks and they are amazing..

It’s honestly surprising how good they are with how cheap they are ($20 for 2). Haha we are actually using one of them right now as we speak. ☺️They are pretty heavy but I would say we get at least 2 + full phone charges out of each one.
Anyway hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
Oohh I should also mention.. your trekking company will hopefully explain this to you but when you get up in sub freezing temperatures, your batteries lose all their charge. Sleep with them in your sleeping bag these nights! 🤣 we went through 3 GoPro batteries on summit morning getting up to the top.. keep the spare batteries and your phone inside your jacket for warmth when you’re not using. But when you come back down the batteries magically have charge again lol.
Cool Video ! 😃😎 thanks for sharing. Kilimanjaro is my 2023 goal. What month did you go ? And did the guide service provide your sleeping bags ? What Fahrenheit temp were they ?
Thanks for watching! We were there in January... we rented a lot of the gear we didn't have/ bring with us from home from our trekking company (including the sleeping bags ☺️). There are places in Moshi you can rent from as well. They were definitely sub 0 sleeping bags... maybe somewhere around negative 15 +/- and we were plenty warm! ☺️
Which company did you use?
Awww this is making me miss Kili. My guide was also Nelson (not the same Nelson, they just share a name and title)
Oh how funny is that! Thanks so much for watching!
Assuming you have some fear of heights? I am planning a trip there and thinking the same route. How did you manage to overcome the fears?
Haha I do in fact have a fear of heights.. At least for the route we did, I don’t really remember any particular areas I was too worried about from a heights standpoint point. But honestly my fear has improved quite a bit from years ago.
Summit day is of course very very steep but since it’s in the middle of the night you can’t see anything anyway. 😂😅
That said, Myles seems to remember an extra narrow section on the caldera rim once the sun was up, but tbh I was so out of it at that point I can’t remember any specifics.
But if it makes you feel any better, there was nothing like the Barranco wall on this route we did (not sure if you have read/ heard about this section that I think 3 +/- of the routes take). The northern route does avoid that at least!
I think there is some drone footage in there, were you allowed to fly drone inside the park ? Is there any permit you need for that ?
真的太漂亮
Thanks so much! ☺️❤️
