- Hey Folks welcome back! If you missed yesterday's video about our latest life, land and equipment investment you might want to check that one out first because today's episode is directly correlated to that one, so here is the link: • WE BOUGHT IT! John Dee...
So let's talk about our latest land management equipment investment today. On yesterday's episode we got a lot of comments regarding this new equipment investment, most positive, but some not so much. But that's OK we welcome all comments unless they are just nasty, ridiculous or totally demeaning. So with that said I thought it would be good to follow up with this topic and share how much we paid for this 2006 John Deere 655c track loader/bulldozer and also share some of my reasoning on why we bought this bulldozer and how I came to my decision on whether I thought it was a good equipment investment or not. Also if you want to see this very machine in action doing some major land clearing here are a couple of episodes of this bulldozer clearing some new food plots on our Missouri farm a few months ago, which led me to start thinking on maybe buying this machine:
DAY 8 OF MEGA LAND CLEARING PROJECT: • DAY 8! Clearing a Miss...
DAY 9 OF MEGA LAND CLEARING PROJECT:
• DAY 9! 13 Acres of new...
Thanks for joining us today we hope to see you on a future episode of all of our new life and land adventures from our beautiful new Southern Missouri Ozarks farm! #JOHNDEERE655 #BULLDOZER #heavyequipment
I think you did well, it's expensive to hire out at $175 to $200 / hr. Big jobs like 13 acres of food plots and Tank work makes the machine pay for itself in no time. Good job Kap.
I agree 100. The 12 acre clearing project cost us about 16k. It would take me awhile to do that much, but living here on the land makes that much easier picking away day after day. And with the deal we got I feel it was a total no brainer. Thanks man have a great weekend!

Congrats. Kapper!!!! I think you got a great deal. Wish you all the best.
Thanks buddy much appreciated! Have a great weekend!
heck of a buy Joe . i have notice that they slide more that a crawler dozer. with the single grossers .i have slide backwards down a hill like yours with the loader dozers trying to put in a road up hill .i now have a d 4 cat dozer
Yeah it will take some learning but with all the machines I've ran now for many years I think I'll catch on quick. Just the fact of the deal I got I think it was a real good investment! Thanks man have a good weekend
Definitely make shifting that brush an easy job
oh no doubt!! This will be a force multiplyer no doubt! Just light land clearing that I do with my excavator will be exponentially faster with this thing! Thanks
Your rationale make sense Joe. I also know you will have a blast using a dozer like I would!!!
lol I think so too!! What a game changer it could be!! I think it was a good land investment for us!
Congratulations on your purchase 💪👍 only reservation i have is they can be a real bone cruncher working on rock 😵 but s nice ride on dirt 😁 have fun 👌
Thanks Bob. I sure hope that I can run this thing a few hours at a time. That is all I need and all I can handle but with it being right here on the property I think it will be a success!
Nice unit, and you don’t need to explain yourself. If you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters. You could have a perfect unit with a 100hrs on it for $35k and people would still complain about it.
Also, you can’t go wrong with John Deere, they make great units.
This is going to make your watering holes and pond rebuilds go so much faster and a lot better. Remember when you do them, compaction is your best friend.
Yepper this was a very good deal imo. I believe we could easily get our money back in years if we needed to. But you are right this thing is a force multiplyer. When we're getting older and more broken, the more you can get done in just a few hours on a machine makes all the difference! Thanks brother
I like your 4D chess. I subscribed to your channel. thanks!
Appreciate that! I'm glad you like my style, hope you enjoy the videos! We're always looking ahead at how we can improve our life, liberty and land investments!
those are made by libherr they can be very expensive to fix. weve seen many travel motor failures, a few splitter box failures. the tcus fail quite often and are obsolete unless a used one can be found, the fix is a digital tcu upgrade for 10k. a 953 would have been cheaper to fix.
Well I don't look a gift horse in the mouth and this is a very good deal by someone that I trust on this deal. Even with a 10k upgrade or repair we'd still be in the ballpark!
You got a darn good deal congrats brother
I truly believe so! I know he could have got more at auction but he wanted me to have it since we have a good partnership started with our real estate dealings.
@ definitely understand how that goes a friend around here has my D6 CAT usen it if breaks down will fix it good deal for both of us get little $ coming in still just setting not getting used telll I’m back on my feet 👍🏼
Don't forget to add in the addition to the barn so you have a place to park it out of the weather! Maybe another $20K???
Lots of moving parts. Just did a refi cashout so we have fresh 'ammo!' But we did drop the rate from 6.875 down to 5.375 with a bunch of our cash back!
Good job great price you will do well with it
I think it is a great investment and should serve us well! Thank you
Nice machine, good price. It would re-stack that bonfire pile in no time.
LOL no doubt about that!! I just did a re push with the Kioti for my 2nd burn!
Congratulations! You got a good deal on it.
Thanks! It should be a big help on the farm.
nice buy
Congratulations on the new machine but you better add another 0 to the 3500$ tracks😂😂😂
I could be wrong but a new under carriage will probably be around 20k for that machine. Typically it’s not just pads
Not sure on cost but he told me that the 'rails' I think? have already been replaced so it would just need future pads. He said that the rails or undercarriage was the major cost.
Did you buy it outright or finance it ? Assuming $200/hr to hire, that works out to 225 hrs. (that doesn't include maintenance).Since you got a good price for it, I would take maybe the next 2 yrs. and get all the work done on your property that this kind of rig is designed for and then sell afterward. I'm not sure if there is personal property tax on that in MO. Just a thought.
Paid cash. Yes I believe we can get all our money back after a few years should we decide to. Like you said something could go wrong but that is with any machine. We got a great deal on this one due to our land relationship with the seller and he is a real stand up guy
good for you, you where right on what i said was a good deal. now lets get to work.. lol
Yep can't wait! It's still being serviced he's working on getting the AC back up and running but got it paid for today!
Cool beans!
Booyah!! For sure!! Can't wait for this one!
You may be able to replace just the pads not the rails then maybe get a excavator and be done
Yes he told me the rails have already been replaced which is huge. So it most likely would be just the pads and any bad bearings.
Was that the only unit you looked at? What about a Cat?
No just this one because I saw it in action and I know I got a real good deal on it and I trust the seller.
1st👍
If it’s not cat it’s not a good deal!
I'd say Deere makes some great industrial machines like this one!
@ nope!
Track Loader. I guess if you put that name in the video title your viewers wouldn’t have a clue. And most would say “bulldozer”, but it’s not.
I just can’t tell if you are trying to justify your purchase to someone? Or weird humble bragging? Someone gave you a great sales pitch if you believe certain things only appreciate. ALL markets are a cycle
I always try to justify investments and equipment investments. I believe it is healthy to do, and we constanly re assess life and investments. To me this just makes sense..
@ ok. What about you telling people that this purchase will only appreciate
