This is exciting!!! I have the V1 pro but I am hearing this performs much better and longer, which is something I like :) Can't wait to see your video on how it performs!!
I have the AD 200 Pro for my key light and a AD100 / V1 combination as my hair/separation lights. I was thinking of getting a second AD100 to take on the role from the V1, but now I'll get the V100! Same wattage but much more versatile than the AD100. Love this!
Some things I'd be interested in are: - Direct comparison to the V1pro - color temperature. - consistency of TTL. - real life use of touch screen in fast paced environments. - I'm also concerned that the touchscreen/software leaves more room for failure.
Godox has been coming out with a lot of new products that just keep getting better. I just hope they don't start increasing their prices. Keep the quality low cost products.
As a chinese,i think Godox won't increas their prices, because its mian market is china,in our country, company between company Compete fierce,if he increas its price, other company will insteat it
Intuitive, high power, fast recycle time. All the good things! As an amateur photographer, I hate using flashes for a long time because of their lack of user friendliness. I started to use flashes again when I was introduced to the last version of Godox flashes, where their menu has been easy enough to set without reading manual. This version is even better, it seems.
Looking forward to a review. Bought a V1 pro, to replace my V1, back in June. Great flash it’s now my main and the SB5000 spare. Thinking of getting the 100 as main and keepV1 pro as spare 🙂. Have the X3, was easy to learn the touch screen when using with the AD400. Thank you for the introduction
I am the owner of one AD 200 Pro Mark II and one TT685 like 2nd light, I was thinking about replacement it, and this is the best one I've come up with. A week ago I bought the R2 NANO trigger at Adorama for $59, which is also a touchscreen.
Used one last night at an awards ceremony. The screen is both nice and a pain. So easy to change settings accidentally so you HAVE to lock the screen. However, despite having the screen locked, twice it unlocked itself and went from manual to ttl. It also went from 1/32 power to full power (unlocking itself in the process) when I changed the battery in my camera, a Sony A1. The little flash on the front is manual only even when you have the flash in TTL, so that stayed in the bag. The reason I bought this was another review said the TTL off camera was finally fixed with Sony cameras. I have not found this to be the case and it's no better than my V1's. This flash desperately needs a physical lock switch, which if it had would make the flash far better. I will keep the flash for the times I need extra power and using it in manual off camera. But I certainly will not be replacing my V1's as for on camera work, they are still much better than this flash. Such a shame, it just feels like the design was done without the input of a working photographer. It's also slow to turn on having to press and hold the power button then rotate the wheel which is stiff.
You can buy quite a good bit of external vendor ones that fit with theirs quite well :D just look up the model of it. I guess its harder to find outside of SEA :D
DearGodox, I've been waiting for such a flash since the godox 360 years ago. However please be mindful that when you are an event photographer and you need to move fast, muscle memory is needed to change settings on the camera and the flash by where the buttons are placed. If you give us a touch screen, no matter how cool it looks it WILL slow down working professionals by having to constantly look at the screen to touch a flat screen. Important buttons are groups and power ratios. Thanks for your constant innovation to the community. Looking to find more buttons on the pro version.
That's why TTL was created. They obviously knew what they were doing when they released the V1 Pro shortly before this so why not go with that?. Not every piece of kit is going to work perfectly for every photographer. The 360 was great but way too bulky to carry on camera.
Tbh I get the impression that camera manufacturers have left the flash market anyway - better for them to focus R&D budgets on cameras and lenses and leave flashes to third parties, with a lot of high-quality specialist brands in the field.
i use the Canon EL-1 and its pretty impressive. But this has some edge is strength, and probably more importantly the functional wireless capabilities. The Canon wireless flash capabilities are very unreliable.
very interesting - my guess is that it will be a great ad to the photographer in various fields such as weddings, portraits, photo journalist and so on 👍
This looks amazing... and perfect balance. I'm interested to use the fill with bounce like on the pro version, but will go for this instead. However, I never use the touch screen touch as I adjust the flash power in camera, but I guess nice to have anyway.
Awesome video! Two questions: 1. How are you the ONLY UA-camr reviewing this? Props, dude! 2. How does it compare in size, weight, and weight balance to other Godox flashes like the v1 or any of the v860s? Thank you!
Godox is becoming DJI, in few years not even Profoto will be able to compete with them in terms of features. They left Broncolor in the dust a long time ago, except in terms of color stability. Quality will take a little longer, Godox batteries still do self-harm. Profoto is fighting back an unusual strategy for an European company (normally they go to the European Union to have them go after the American or the Chinese).
Hi, can you clarify one thing if you have a minute? On the current V1 version, you have the flash head button designated as M and right next to it you have A, B and C. It's easy to adjust the flash head power by taping M and then going to the other groups (A, B, C) to make adjustments. From this demo, it seems like those two are put in separate screens. The flash head power is configured in one screen and groups A, B and C power in a separate screen. If that's the case I think that's not an improvement and they should think about putting those on the same screen. I think aside from that I like it...
He's using the Canon version. On Canon, A controls the power of the Master, as well as any external flashes in group A. Then groups B, C, D, E for off camera groups only. Nikon, Sony, and Fuji models will have M for the master only, and then A, B, C, D for off camera groups. It's how the native systems are designed.
I’ve used Broncolor, Profoto, and Elinchrom systems extensively over the years, but for economic reasons, I’ve built my latest setup around Godox. I’m really impressed with the value for money, and I’m looking forward to adding one or two of these to my AD600Pro II and AD200 units. Hopefully, they’ll prove to offer decent longevity. How does the new flash perform with the Sony A9 III's global shutter? Do I need to make any flash timing adjustments or are they automatic?
Did you finally adjust the LCD light on the flash to turn on when the upper LCD on the Nikon camera turns on? Actually, does the light turn on synchronously with the camera? Or do I have to constantly touch the LCD flash to turn on the light?
GODOX really saved Photographers from buying over priced flashes from Canon ,Nikon and Sony. This kind of flash might cost us 1,000$ up if it was Canon brand.
Have they fixed to Sony off-camera TTL issues? Do TTL with remote on Sony work for big apertures in dark environment giving some good consistent exposure with TTL?
I want to use it for a nikon focus shift or focus bracketing, using the external power bank from my streaklight 360 thevrecycle time is cut in half so I can do macro photos of insects.
can u lock the settings so you don't change them when you accidentally swipe if you have the camera on your shoulder. the buttons on the previous godox flashes were too easy to press and you'd inadvertenly change a setting when were on the go.
Great to see more innovation. No dedicated button for modelling light or turning wireless on will just get annoying. Already got annoyed with my x3 triggers. Such a shame as the 100ws sounds fun. Even in this video you can see sometimes you’re having to press multiple times to get it to react…
impressive flash, no real new features but a more powerful flash with much more handy touchscreen operation. Got the V1 and V1 pro, kinda curious if this one will suit my purposes more. However, since it's much more powerfull a manual 1/512 might be handy for me... Is the fault in the X3 (zoom mode not seprate adjustable per flash) already solved?
I don't think 1/512 is necessary. 1/256 is plenty low for a 100w speedlight. A typical speedlight is about 76w so this isn't a huge jump in power to 100. For a speedlight this is a big deal only because speedlights in the scheme of things aren't very powerful. But 24w is barely 1/3 of a stop increase in total power. I think 1/512 would produce almost nothing on a 100w light. I'm happy with 1/256. For the more powerful strobes 200w and up, 1/512 would actually be of use.
@@JohanvdWielen I was talking about 1/512. I’m all for 1/256. I was just saying I don’t need 1/512 in a speedlight. I rarely shoot speedlights bare so with most modifiers I would use with a speedlight, 1/512 in a 100w speedlight is going to be useless. I do see where it might be handy for other photographers but I’m absolutely fine with 1/256. I was saying I don’t need it to go lower than that.
This Dutch dude always gets the news first. I saw him talk about the ADPro200ii before anyone else but then someone (Godox?) made him take it down for a couple weeks until release happened. Why would you want a speed light as a trigger? Wouldn't' the larger 200-600 lights be in front and the 100 W as a hair light? Please explain a scenario where acting as the trigger makes sense at an event.
@ Maybe it was from an old batch? Idk. It was supposedly fixed a little while after its initial release. The lens is available separately for purchase to swap out.
@ it appears your were right. They sent me a shipment notice the day after I ordered but no movement or info since. We’ll see how the AliExpress “satisfaction guarantees” work out.
Is it heavy compare to v1? Canon mirrorless hot shoe known to be not so durable compare to its dslr. When it became loose, it need to be fix from inside.
@@milanhugh Why is that a problem? This is barely 1/3 of a stop more powerful than the average speedlight. Why would you need anything lower than 1/256? 1/512 on a 100w light will give you almost nothing, nothing you could actually use as even a light fill. I could be wrong but idk, bud. I don’t think so. On more powerful strobes 1/512 would be of use but I don’t believe 1/512 would be helpful on any speedlight. The power on typical speedlights is already fairly low at around 76w, as far as lights go. An additional 24w is barely anything more.
@ you would be surprised. I was really hoping that godox will come out with the lower power option like profoto a10 has 0.1 power , which is really useful at the weddings in many situations. At least for me. It is just a tweak in firmware
@ Meh. I mean, I can see it being handy in some cases I suppose. But I very rarely shoot speedlights bare. With a modifier I’d never need 1/512. So, in hindsight, I guess I should just say it isn’t necessary for *ME.*
Downside: the infrered pattern is garbage compared to the Canon one because the godox patterns are generic and the Canon ones are propietary and perfectly designed for Canon cameras. You'll be hunting for focus in the most important moments possible regardless of the power or any other function. One of those things you only know when you buy and use. I regret not going with the Canon one just for that.
BTW... whats the deal with the secondary flash being manual only? Just make it act like a different group that is controllable, it is a mini-flash after-all. It is now of limited and niche use, i.e. useless for 99% of situations 😛
Nice..appreciate the insight...might have to pick this up..had the V1 for a while and was looking into an AD100..now this is the best of both worlds..lol didn't upgrade to the V1Pro since it was basically the same as the V1...but this looks like a good choice..lol Does it have TCM mode?..and it can only go up to 1/128?..any option of up to 1/256 if you use the X3 trigger..bc like the other flashes the AD200Pro II and the AD600Pro II..if you use the X3 trigger you can reach 1/512 ?
The sub-flash doesn't work on receiver mode. The modeling light is a joke. Toooooooooooooo yellow and can lighten up the subject up to 3 feet. After 3 feet it's useless. Also, after changing some settings, lets say add another flash to a group, you have to go back to the settings and turn on the sub-flash again. How come it turns off by itself? Very heavy for on-camera flash. In a couple of months, the user can destroy the hot shoe. The rotating head very tight. I use WD 40 to make rotation easier. Mine did not come with a magnetic ring. I had to buy from the amazon. Very disappointed. I have to return back.
70 full-power flashes per charge. And when it’s dead, charging is as simple as plugging in via USB-C? Sure, in a club I''ll go around carrying the charger, jesus guys, do better.
Just make a flash with voice-commands already... it will be fun listening to photographers shouting, "Godox, full power!" "Godox, more power to the side", "Godox sync".... (p.s. this is sarcasm for everything going touch-screen and becoming more difficult to access every function)
Correct, touch screen will work for menu stuff but not shoot command buttons like the turning up and down of each light and changing groups. Those sort of things you need physical buttons. The nano transmitter did well because it's a youtube thing not actual working professionals. We all prefer the buttons .
No way am I doing all this menu diving on a professional gig. And that tiny screen on the transmitter looks like it would be a nightmare on a professional shoot.

Use photography gloves where you can have the thumb and index fingers exposed when you need to use them.
There are two control methods, touch screen and case, so don't worry
Is it heavy compare to v1? Canon mirrorless hot shoe known to be not so durable compare to its dslr. When it became loose, it need to be fix from inside.
Only the mark one versions of the R6 and R5
What is the price?
350
What is the lowest power?
1/256 on the main flash and I believe 1/128 on the front fill flash.
That can be a problem if the lowest is 1/256.
Son reales los 70 disparos consecutivos a full power
hi only for Canon ?
Obviously no
This or the Westcott FJ400?
Shut up and take my money
Nice..appreciate the insight...might have to pick this up..had the V1 for a while and was looking into an AD100..now this is the best of both worlds..lol didn't upgrade to the V1Pro since it was basically the same as the V1...but this looks like a good choice..lol
Does it have TCM mode?..and it can only go up to 1/128?..any option of up to 1/256 if you use the X3 trigger..bc like the other flashes the AD200Pro II and the AD600Pro II..if you use the X3 trigger you can reach 1/512 ?
It goes down to 1/256. I don’t think 1/512 is necessary on a 100w light lol.
but how is the HOT SHOE?
That was the worst part on the Sony models. That piece broke every other month.
Only available for canon atm?
I don't think it's easy to use with gloves
I was thinking the same. Everything is now touchscreen :(
70 full-power flashes per charge. And when it’s dead, charging is as simple as plugging in via USB-C? Sure, in a club I''ll go around carrying the charger, jesus guys, do better.
Spare batteries my dude
100watts-sec, where do you get that number from ? You don't even mention GN, just questions marks the ws! Clickbait or false advertisement here..
Who asked for a dumb touchscreen?
touchscreen ((( ffs
