Got one two weeks ago and finally took it to a wedding this weekend. I used it as OCF. The power output is the same as AD100, so I put it on a light stand and followed the couple visiting each table for a group photo. It worked flawlessly with ceiling bounce. I will get one more.
Glad to hear it worked well for your workflow!
You are aware that Godox is selling V100 U units in North America that have a red plastic ring instead of the magnetic ring , due to a patent infringement case from Profoto. Adorama's Flashpoint version has the magnetic ring, and some retailers are supply a third party magnetic ring that you can swap in for the plastic ring ( and note: the replacement ring is NOT labeled Godox). I was just at PPA Imaging USA and spoke with Godox folks and they confirmed all this and displayed V100 U units without the magnetic ring. Adorama folks there were unaware their Flashpoint units were International units with the magnetic ring, and were hoping they aren't stopped from selling them. I took the small Show discount and bought one of the Flashpoint V100 units with the magnetic ring. . Cheers
That's a great tip for those looking to buy the V100 in North America, thanks for the insight!
Finally ! Idk why not many people this product yet maybe its too new ? I already bought just wanna learn and study on youtube, thank you for this product content, wish you can update more about this product! Very exciting!
greeting fan from 🇲🇾 ✨
great timing! just in time when im about to research what my next flash is 😅
I hope this video helps you in your decision making!
Used one last night at an awards ceremony. The screen is both nice and a pain. So easy to change settings accidentally so you HAVE to lock the screen. However, despite having the screen locked, twice it unlocked itself and went from manual to ttl. It also went from 1/32 power to full power (unlocking itself in the process) when I changed the battery in my camera, a Sony A1. The little flash on the front is manual only even when you have the flash in TTL, so that stayed in the bag. The reason I bought this was another review said the TTL off camera was finally fixed with Sony cameras. I have not found this to be the case and it's no better than my V1's. This flash desperately needs a physical lock switch, which if it had would make the flash far better. I will keep the flash for the times I need extra power and using it in manual off camera. But I certainly will not be replacing my V1's as for on camera work, they are still much better than this flash. Such a shame, it just feels like the design was done without the input of a working photographer. It's also slow to turn on having to press and hold the power button then rotate the wheel which is stiff.
Thank you for comment. Is there a flash mode lock that can keep it in manual even if you accidentally touch a button/screen? The other V1s and 860s have it
Oh no..really...I wanted to switch out my first gen V1's..to this one bc I skipped the V1 Pro when I heard about this V100..lol I would still like to get one to try out...excited when I first heard of this bc of the better output power..now I don't need to get a AD100..lol
@@LMNDZ513 I tested the power against my V1's and this thing is a beast.
@@nickwilliams7867 they listen to the UA-camrs that like the next big shiny thing, but shiny things are not always better.
Hey, I'm Sony user too. And I founded out, off camera TTL works fine (even in AUTO ISO mode) with 3rd party lenses (I've tested with Tamron and Viltrox). And does not with any Sony lenses (tested a lot).
I'm not going to buy this flash because of this touchscreen btw
Just bought it, I’m kinda excited to test it out
Let us know what you think!
I have now used it on a couple more jobs. I have also bought the x3 trigger. So Off camera TTL is now ok with the X3, unlike my Xpro2 trigger which was terrible. I still found the flash coming out of lock mode on its own. The flash would be a 100% better if it had a manual three way lock button. Just a simple OFF - ON - LOCK switch like you get on Sony's flashes . Working on the event going from using flash to not using flash was a pain. It may only take 0.5 to 1 second to turn this flash on and of but that's enough time to miss a shot. One thing I did love was the new plastic defuser that looks like a giant milk bottle top. It is very tight to get on and off but gives a wonderful catch light when using bounce. I also used it for direct flash and it made the light softer than any direct flash I have ever used. One last thing, every time I put the flash into receiver mode it connected first time every time with the X3. This can not be said for my V1's and Xpro2
happy new year my friend, i love your videos and you know. Please make more videos about daily routine in your store
Appreciate the support 🙏
In terms of stops, how much darker is it compared to the AD200 Pro?
Finally!!! It's beautiful!!! D.
🙌
Great video. I do not see this available for Leica and Panasonic though
No V100-O (also for Panasonic) or V100-L (for Leica) as yet. The O version (Olympus/Panasonic) will be available soon and we don't believe Godox will be releasing a Leica version.
I bought this flash but shaking it makes a noise as if there was something broken inside that hits the walls, is it normal?
Hi, Is there anyway this flash will function with the Hasselblad X2D in TTL mode?
Unfortunately, not that we’re aware of
How does it compare to the xplor 100 pro ttl R2?
The Xplor 100 Pro is a rebadged Godox AD100Pro so it's similar in output to the Godox V100 at 100Ws but the V100 has the advantage of the hot shoe mounting capability of a traditional on-camera flash and the updated menu, and wireless sync capabilities of the latest Godox flashes. Overall the V100 is more versatile.
I am comparing the v100 and ad200
Which one is the best best flash
Depends if you ever shoot on camera or prefer to shoot primarily off-camera with a trigger. The V100 has less output at 100Ws but is more versatile
i'm tryin to look everywhere but can't tell if its able to turn its head left and right ?
Same, V1s do this and I use it often!
Just found this on an Amazon review: "The head swivels a full 90degress to the right, but somewhat less than that to the left so if you want to bounce off of back wall need to make sure you go to the right." Odd that it doesn't swivel full 90 both ways...
That Amazon review is correct. To the left it lets you go to 150deg however to the right it let's you go the full 180deg
You mentioned the buttons below. Can I turn on/off groups and power ratios of groups without using the touchscreen?
If I have to use the touch screen I'm not sure how as an event photographer this will work since changing specific settings are done by muscle memory and now you have to take the camera away from your eye and use a touchscreen which will delay and possibly make you miss the shot.
@@jeffrey3205 You can lock the flash and adjust exposure for TTL with the camera. At least that's what I do with sony A1. Problem I had last night was on three occasions the flash unlocked it's self and then it's SO easy to accidentally change settings. If shooting manual you can adjust by pressing the centre button the rotating the wheel so not using the lcd. But and it's a big fat but, to do this the LCD has to be unlocked. Then any slight touch and you are changing settings.
@@nickwilliams7867 that sounds like stress
my question is how the dial and button feels like? is it good? better than v1/v1pro?
Feels better than the V1/V1 Pro. The dial has more traction and click-ability
Seems like this should’ve been the V1 Pro
i wonder how does this compare to ad100
For output, it's the same at 100Ws. We personally think it's more versatile as you can mount to your camera hot shoe and shoot off-camera with an X trigger.
I was trying to compare the V100 with my TT685II they use Guide numbers with the 685 and Watts with the V100 and the V1. I don't know why they do this. The problem is they look very simular but I cant tell about output I assume the V100 is more powerful but how can you tell?
Hey, 🙌 the V100 is an upgrade from the V1, offering 100Ws power, faster recycling, full-speed shutter sync, and enhanced features like a touchscreen and better wireless sync ....
First view that me
🤗🙌
A bit overpriced considering you can buy the Ad200 for less. But I understand considering how feature packed it is!
The hot shoe mounting and the ability to use as a master to replace a flash trigger with a multi flash setup justifies the cost. Godox have a short on it here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsPR34dU2xxP4
The V100s usefulness has been disabled. It no longer has the magnetic ring, it's been removed. Your attachments now require duct tape.
Someone has just mentioned there's North America versions without the magnetic ring and International versions with the magnetic ring. If you require the magnetic ring best to confirm before purchasing!
How about using it on a camera? What's the point of this video otherwise?
That’s a great idea you make one
