I don't see how defending his betting on his team is a good argument for his case. Betting on your own team to win was still against the baseball rules. Also, unless he bet on his team to win every game they played (and he didn't), then it's quite possible he'd hold back relievers the game before he was going to make a bet or make other moves that would affect the next game because he knew he was betting the next game.

Pete Rose admitted to betting on the game while being a manager and he bet on games he was involved in as said manager. He violated the rules which puts him on the ineligible list. Now, here is the kicker for me. He is not allowed to be in the hall of fame, yet, there are hundreds of items belonging to Mr. Rose throughout his career. To me, a man who soiled the game should not be mentioned or allowed to remind people of his existence through the many items residing there. So, there is one solution, Rose should go to court for his items to be removed. After all, a lying, gambler of baseball should not be celebrated for his many achievement as a player.
