Just a quick comment about consideration of not only retail pharmacy drug costs, but mail-order costs. Many folks have "maintenance" prescriptions, that they have been taking for years, same scripts. Most of the time, these prescriptions are less costly by getting a "mail order" 90 day supply. Perhaps you may add a few words to this video to include not only retail pharmacy cost but also the fact that one should pay attention to the 90 day "mail order" cost in an effort to save money and better evaluate overall drug cost. My apologies if you have already made this point in other videos as I have not watched all of them, yet! But, believe me I am subscribed and encourage all us "slightly used" to check out all your work! Thank you!!

Thank you John! Mail order is definitely something to consider for maintenance medications. I always like feedback like this when it comes to creating new videos. Thanks so much for watching :-)

Not necessarily. Frequently Mail Order is more. It is worth checking though, especially if you like the convenience.
If you don't exit you can navigate back to pharmacy selection or to your drug list to edit.

Thanks for the info Stephanie. I'll be starting Medicare in the fall and just realized that the only prescription I have which is a daily asthma inhaler is a brand with no generics and my costs will be insane. Is there any way around that?

Sadly, inhalers are often some of the more expensive medications when it comes to Part D. I would recommend checking goodrx.com for coupons, seeing if the pharmaceutical company offers any direct discounts, and actively shopping your Part D plan each year to see if you can find a better value.

Thank you for the information, very informative 👍🏻.
Question, when you click on, " drugs & their costs" and scroll to the "estimated total monthly drug costs", is that estimating the total for all the drugs in your list by month?

Yes, it is. Unless you chose 90 day supply for any medications, then it’s typically going to show the 90 day costs.

My Humana will be going up from $29.00 to $58.00. The thing is I don't have any prescriptions. What would be the best insurance?

Rochelle Holmes I would recommend you look at a lower cost Part D Rx plan. I’d be happy to get you more information - you can email us or call 888-465-9728, or you can sort plans on Medicare.gov by lowest plan premium.

I have 3 tier drugs . It takes all year to meet the deductible for my Tier 1 drugs. The plans I see pay almost nothing for me so I basically pay for nothing. I come out cheaper just paying the "cash price" that my LOCAL not CHAIN pharmacist charges me. Does this sound correct. I have used the Plan finder before but not this year.

Is it a good idea to add cancer drugs or expensive heart meds on the list, just in case Just to see how much the plan covers? Thanks!

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency
      @AbtInsuranceAgency  4 роки тому +1

Great question - my answer is, not necessarily. Different Part D Plans have slightly different formularies. So, you could enter in an 'example' medication to see how it may be covered on any given plan, but I wouldn't necessarily use that as a primary deciding factor when it comes to choosing your Part D Plan. For example, the heart medication you use as an "example" in your search may or may not be the same exact heart medication that you may actually be prescribed in the future.
You can change your Part D Plan annually during the Annual Election Period in the fall, so I recommend choosing a Plan to best cover you current medications, and then actively shopping that Part D plan every year (we help our clients with that).
Also, many very expensive cancer medications (like chemo, etc.) are covered by Medicare Part B (not Part D).
I hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching!

I dropped Aetna part D because they decided to only give me a 7 day supply of my pain meds instead of the 30 day supply the Doctor wrote.Waiting 4 times in line at drugstore instead of once is too much hassle and besides my good RX coupon was less then insurance!

@May Baby: So should Fat People only be allowed to buy a small amount of food at a time and need to go wait in the store line many more times? I am 72 years old and have difficulty getting to the Drugstore and should not be hassled by so called well meaning busy bodies!

Hi, Thanks for the info & your professional presentation. My head hurts. I have many questions, but maybe if I play your videos 100x, I'll be a wiz. Are there supplemental medicare plans that help w/ the medication costs?... I have a new drug that will cost $50 per month & $2,000 + for premium cost!
