    Would love to see this done for timing with removal & prep too! That's where I struggle the most bc I take too much time on clients

    I will have to say, Habib's cuticles are nice and neat so his prep will be considerably faster than someone with excessive or stubborn cuticle so i think 5-10 min is great timing!

    Super thankful I found your prep videos years ago otherwise I might be spending 45 minutes on one hand using 18 different bits to "prep" it. It really isn't that complicated in most situations.

    I have a question. In the video you can see there are small bits of the nail plate that still have shine, but it’s not near the sidewall or cuticle area. Does this affect adhesion? I’m usually super thorough with the nail plate and wonder if that’s even necessary for any ridges in the nail plate or if those sunken ridges in the nail can be left alone if the sanding band doesn’t go into the ridge and rough it up.

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  2 місяці тому +1

      You do want to be as thorough as possible when removing shine, however, if there are lower areas or ridges in the nails, make sure you don't over-file to smooth those out as this can cause damage or over-thinning of the nail.

    I saw another channel say to brush (like with Swipe) towards the client but doesn’t that push all of the debris into their pocket? I think brushing towards yourself makes more sense right?

    Hi I have a quick question when if it’s only one person using the band when you’re taking off the shine, how many times can you use the same band on the same one person?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому

      You would need to check with your state board on reusing products.

    • @thenailauthority
      @thenailauthority 10 місяців тому +1

      @dolldoll100 Price it into your service and throw that thing away! Sanding bands aren't very expensive. Plus, you never know if there are bacteria hanging out on the skin. You leave the band, next time cut them with it and they end up with a nasty infection. You don't want to put your license at risk for a few pennies. THROW THEM AWAY!!

    What can I use comparable to YN Swipe to clean he nails during prep? Does alcohol work?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  9 місяців тому +1

      Alcohol isn't strong enough to remove all the oils from the nails. We really recommend swipe, but if you can't get it, you could try 99% alcohol.

    I still struggle getting it done that easy & that fast.. especially on someone who hasn’t done them in a while or when doing a fill.. Some hands are definitely a lot easier to do than others.. I’ve learned I have more of a c curved nail plate w/“deep side pockets” so if I don’t Reallyy get in there to push it back/up & scrape it off good, I will definitely end up with some kind of lifting around the top corners on a nail or 2.. so I try to keep up with it so I don’t have to spend 15mins every time, 😢just on prep. Especially dealing with lifting acrylic.. trying to be careful not to cut the skin or damage the nail but making sure you get it off.. hate that part.. She makes it look so easy like a 1,2,1,2 next... but then again habib has nice nails for a guy so there’s that... 😩😂 maybe it’s her cuticle pusher.. that’s a nice 1 lol 😆💁‍♀️

    Why double protein if you mentioned to be careful not to over flood with it? Does the double make a big difference?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому +1

      We always recommend using two coats for heavy lifters, but you don't want to find out after the fact that someone is a heavy lifter so we use two coats on everyone.
      You just don't want the protein bond to run into the cuticles and sidewalls.

    Do you guys not cut the cuticle with nippers?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  9 місяців тому +1

      When we prep, we do not recommend cutting the cuticles as this does open the skin to over exposure to products that accidentally touch the skin. If trimming hangnails is necessary, we recommend doing this after the nails are completed.

    Is that protein bond called base coat?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому +1

      No, Protein bond is a non acid primer.. it doesn’t chemically etch the nail like a traditional primer does. Protein stays sticky.. sticks to the natural nail and then sticks the product.
      If you are working on the natural nails for a gel manicure or hard gel, you still need to use a base coat unless the product you are using says it's not needed.
      For example, you do not need a base coat with our one step gel polish or before applying fiber gel.

    Why does it hurt when I prep with the electric file?

    • @youngnailsinc
      @youngnailsinc  10 місяців тому +1

      It could be because your nails are too thin and/or you are using too much pressure when using the e-file. You want a very light feather like motion at 3,000-5,000 rpms for prep.
      I like a good nail strengthener.. apply a coat every day to every other day for about 7 days. Remove and repeat for rebuilding and strengthening natural nails.
