That section was walling up pretty fast ! give an old guy a break !!...he's not a local nor a Kelly Slater/Mick Fanning...... those guys can spot a barrel section from 1000m !

Fantastic. No age limit if you can stay healthy and injury free. I find now at 50 I surf better and smarter but I do feel it afterwards, recovery time is greater when you get older. Great vid.

I retired at 62 and because I spend everyday surfing I have increased my wave and equipment knowledge which has believe it or not I am still improving my surfing at 66. Recovery time is the biggest issue and more than five duck dives in a row slows me down. I stretch/yoga every day for an hour and it definitely slows down the body's the ageing. You always have to want to get better

Leigh Wilson And I try not to stay in too long as when I get tired that’s when I make mistakes which can be costly. I wear a knee leash on a longboard and went out on a big day and got caught out and the board pulled really hard on my leg and I ripped my inside tendon. It’s taken nearly 2 years to get over that, didn’t want surgery so ‘self healed’. At aged 30 I would have recovered in 3-6 months easy. I can’t wait to retire so I can go surf whenever there’s waves. Got lots of surf vids on my channel in cold brown stuff! But we get what we can here. Subscribed.

@@LurgsHowToGuides Hi Lurgs. I have had a look at the brown stuff. Some of the waves look good but the COLD! Which videos are you surfing in?

Leigh Wilson Unfortunately it's all footage I record so I'm not in them! I'm in a few where someone filmed for me but the footage isn't great. We really only get waves when it's windy. Could be some today so I'm getting out.

Great video. How are the waves in June / July? Is it a good time to plan a trip?

I hope you have a great time. Do the early surf at Riptides before the crowd and surf the uncrowded right hander off the resort later in the day
