I...didn't even realize these were the families? I knew of fougere, chypre, blue, amber, gourmand, freshies (basically citrus mixed with aquatics and ozonics) and leather fragrances, also tobacco. In short, eh? What kind of fragrance families are these supposed to be? I'm not sure what to make of blacks and noirs though, it privately pisses me off that most "black" fragrance is some dumb citrussy abomination when I think of Man in Black and Prada Luna Rossa Black as proper "blacks" to Dyland Blue, Bleu de Chanel etc blues.,
I loved this idea. Another video could be the three levels of fragrances for each occasion: summer days, summer nights, office, dates, formal, winter days, winter nights...
I'm impressed at how you keep coming up with such interesting, unique video ideas. Often, fragrance channels which upload frequently start recycling video ideas and repeating themselves. Keep up the nice work! 👍
Thanks for recommending to get an Iris fragrance when starting a collection. I tested Gentleman EDP/Prive, L'Homme, DHI and Le Parfum. But all of them had something which I did not like. Then I came across Valentino Uomo Intense (new version; its slightly more masculine with less powder and more leather). In my opinion this is a very well rounded Iris fragrance. I can recommend that one if anyone else is looking for something with Iris.
Gentleman Privee and DHI smell very similar if not equal to me. I think i slightly prefer DHI though; the other has more of a boozy note in the opening which makes it less versatile. Drydown is kinda equal though,it is that 'dry iris' scent .
I bought Prada l'homme but in all honesty, my Luna Rossa Extreme clone makes l'homme redundant. Labdanum, vanilla and pepper is a winning combo over buttery orris
You should consider other categories like Barbershop/Green fragrances, leather fragrances, and Lavender-based fragrances Also, for another Oud and Leather fragrance, you should check out Maison Margiela’s Under the Stars. It is quite nice :)
Citrus Afnan Turathi Blue-Ridiculously great hybrid inspiration of BDC/Tygar far more expensive Smelling citrus than it is.Not cleaner like CDNIM Terre D'Hermes (any iteration)-Long Lasting with good projection due to the iso super e. Mancera Cedrat Boise Intense-Love Birlington 1819 but its more divisive due to the cumin note.Cedrat Boise is more rounded and less divisive, also works in all seasons. Oceanic/Aquatic Encre Noir Sport-High Quality Affordable Aquatic. D&G Light Blue Eau Intense-Best mid range designer aquatic very long lasting. Tiziana Terenzi Foconero-Most Natural Aquatic also great performance for its category. Tobacco & Amber D&G The One-Agree best introductory tobacco and amber balanced with citrus and fresh aromatic spices. Spicebomb Extreme-Beautiful well priced good performing tobacco and Vanilla Quintessentially the winter fragrance has a slight boozy undertone. Amouage Boundless-Great Niche Tobacco Amber underrated but has all the requisite elements that makes it complete.Shares elements of Enigma and Herod but is its own scent on its on. Blue Fragrances Rochas L'homme-Underrated smells far more classy than Dylan Blue good performer but not as good as the aforementioned. However it has a level of uniqueness and sophistication for a very affordable price. YSL Y EDP/Parfum-Great Quality Blue Fragrance that has elements of but is abit different from the standard BDC and Savuage DNA.Also has brilliant longevity and projection does the do it all job brilliantly high compliment factor. Arabian Oud-Silver Knight-Marries the western Blue concept to the highest level and the arabian rich musky sweet ambery woody components to perfection. Oud Versace Oud Noir-A dark yet clean oud similar to TF Oud Wood but far cheaper also surprisingly long lasting and versatile. All in all a great beginner oud. Gucci Intense Oud-The best designer Rose Oud Incense on the market.A masterpiece that even defeats some niche creations. Montale Oud Edition/Al Haramain Golden Oud-These are masterpiece level Ouds one is I know has real oud the Al Haramain the other im not sure but it definitely seems like it.These are the epitome of sweet smokey resinous animalic but pleasant traditional ouds with bakhoor undertones. Iris Givenchy Gentleman EDP-Strong long lasting buttery yet rooty orris supplemented by fougere facets and balsams to give it great versatility. However it still suits evening wear but more formal. Dior Homme Parfum-The Apex of Designer Iris with leather oud musk smooth woods and rose supporting it. Mancera Black Prestigium-The best niche iris so dark complex yet smooth and seductive.Amouage gets the plaudits but the profile was already created by Mancera the whole Iris with Oud Leather and Amber. Also smells very expensive yet not near the Amouage price tag.
110% agree with the Blue fragrances. Dylan Blue is my quick errand scent. Sauvage EDP is my first Sauvage and it works everytime. Bleu De Chanel Parfum is the King of the Blues.
Huge help! Thank you Omar! This has been the most helpful and informative video on fragrance note breakdown to date. Thank you for all the work you do. Happy Holidays from the USA!
Watching this video made me ealize how much you've influenced my collection. BDC Parfum, Burlington 1819, Naxos, and Alexandria II are all a part of my collection.
Overall really good picks mate! I had Burlington 1819 but the fragrance, despite its magnificient opening, didnt do it for me. Past the first 30 Minutes I get "95%" similarity with Turathi Blue. That isnt bad, but not the experience I expect from a super high class fragrance. I very much prefer Torino21, or, if it has to be a ROJA, A Midsummer Dream or the good old Elysium. As far as blue fragrances go, I cant enjoy Dylan Blue for the life of me. Something about it smells like body odor to me, the definitive opposite of what I want in a blue fragrance. That is a personal anecdote with no bearing on how others percieve it, but on the basis of that I would, for the beginner tier, recommed the spectacularly cheap but very well done Rochas L'Homme.
You did an OUTSTANDING job!!! I love this level of fragrance comparisons. I'm still learning about fragrances and will definitely try samples of these that you recommend. This is such a great video! It is very, very informative and interesting. Kudos for sharing your knowledge and taste in perfumery with us. Thank you, sir!
Burlingtong 1819 is an amazing citrus that can be a little offputting for someone used to basic freshies as the cumin there can be polarizing which is why i agree that it is advanced stage for Citrus category. Nice list!
interesting video! great idea. Only thing id change is putting BDC parfum at intermediate and something like Elysium or Tygar at advanced level for the blue fragances.
Great video, but quite depressing as I don't own a single Level 3 fragrance. I own BdC EdP, but that's as close as I came since the parfum was the actual pick in this category. I have a long way to go in my journey.
Love Oud Malaki, it has like a 'fizzy' feeling to me. I also use iris based perfumes on a daily basis (even in daytime) and i have to say i have tried all the ones you say.. i still struggle to find use for Interlude Black Iris because it costs a lot and i reserve it for special occasion. Dior homme intense or Prada L'homme intense are better for casual wears.
Bro compliments of the season. Great video enjoyed it very much. Alexandria 11 is a 10 out of 10 for me. Hope nxt u will be here to continuously great us. Happy holidays holidays 🎉🎉
I just got into fragrances and got a sample of oud wood by tom ford. Definitely a smell i am not familiar with. Really cool and mysterious like a gypsey carnival
This is a good idea for a great video. But I am still shocked, and continue to be amazed, that with the thousands of affordable designer fragrances available, that influencers recommend clones.
Hi Omar, first of all I would like to commend you for producing such fantastic content. I've only recently gotten into fragrances and find your recommendations to be, for me, perfect. In relation to the above, would you consider Jazz club to be a safe blind buy. I love tobacco vanille and red tobacco, their my two current go to scents. Thank you and keep up the excellent work.
I have a 5ml decant of Black Iris on the way. I wonder if some of some of these higher cost fragrances are so limited in wearabilty...is it worth it to just buy decants in the appropriate season. I live in NYC with a clearly defined season. I guess its subjective.
Is Alexandria II better than Ombre Nomade? I live in the UK and I've spoken to a few women who have been to Dubai and they all rate Ombre Nomade very highly
I was hoping this video would be about fragrances families that are unintentional/unofficial clones - like Silver Mountain Water vs Hamptons vs Mephisto. I feel like there are levels to that too and it's hard to find info (ie is there anything else like Bleecker Street and Purple Label that isn't just a knockoff?)
Another solid video! I have a question however: which of the Polo Reds is a good replacement for Polo Red Intense? I'm running out of my polo red intense and you said it was the best one. :( I was a huge fan of the cranberry citrusy fresh opening
I cant agree with the blue fragrances, BDC is one of the most crowd pleasing scents out there and it's a designer , can not be Advanced IMO , I wouldn't consider alexandria II or naxos as avanced as well , They're expensive but not challenging at all , Alex II is my favorite xerjoff frag , from the moment I smelled it , I didnt force my liking tbh So I would consider it a balance composite not even close to the Black ires by Amouage, that one is challenging , dark and complex , and Naxos is smooth and not dirty at all , Enjoyed the video , I enjoy your content alot , I'd say , beginner, Intermediate, advanced and perhaps Experienced . 1- Torino 21 / Erba pura / 40 knots 2 - Alex II / Naxos / renaissance 3 - Symphonium / more then words / rich wood 4 - 1888 . Dont have anyother lvl 4 fragrances from house because I only smelled the hyped and available ones . The reason xerjoff is the example , because you had a couple of them in your video and it's the one I am interested in the most this time around . I hoped you had an Ember , Floral and spicy categories.
Hey Omar! Long time subscriber but first time commenter. Just wanted to say I love the content, have been fully immersing myself in the fragrance game now thanks to your videos. Recently just purchased Atkinsons' Gold Fair in Mayfair, an extremely classy long lasting boozy fragrance with a unique absinth-hazelnut top end. Any thoughts on this fragrance? If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend! Cheers!
A fun video would be ranking your personal favorite notes with examples (and be specific! Not just citrus, but grapefruit or lemon or whatnot. Not just tobacco, but sweet or earthy or smokey. Etc). And maybe your 5 least favorite notes, too, just to be a hater lol.

This is a great video idea. I really like the categorizing in families because it helps a lot to choose when you don't know what you like exactly.

Masterpiece of a fragrance video. Shows why this channel is second to none among the many fragrance channels. Brilliant 👍
You should consider other categories like Barbershop/Green fragrances, leather fragrances, and Lavender-based fragrances
Also, for another Oud and Leather fragrance, you should check out Maison Margiela’s Under the Stars. It is quite nice :)
Yep, there are families that's not easy to get into. If you could continue the series with more families it would be great
I love this concept, presenting families of perfumes and the three levels (beginner, mid-range, top end). More, please!

Great video concept!
This is an awesome series! I’d love to see more. Regarding Iris, my only and fave perfume is Givenchy EDT Intense
Great concept! Appreciate you breaking out each scent family, and levels of each
Very helpful. Many thanks
Great topic! I love the video! I can see this going more into list for aquatics by season, ouds by season, etc. Love it thank you
Yes, perfumes by season would be fab.
Awesome! That's exactly what I needed. Waiting for more "levels" videos) Thank you.
Everything is spot on! Maybe for the citrus category i would put Hacivat on top, such a beauty
110% agree with the Blue fragrances. Dylan Blue is my quick errand scent. Sauvage EDP is my first Sauvage and it works everytime. Bleu De Chanel Parfum is the King of the Blues.

Love this concept!! great idea it would be great to see some more notes like lavender, honey, chocolate etc...
Fantastic list! I would sub the Armaf with Issey Miyake Pour Homme and Nautica with D&G Light Blue Intense to make this list perfect. 😀
I think this one of your best videos. Very comprehensive!

My Wife just ordered me Amouage Crimson Rocks for Xmas 😮. She's usually spot on but I have never smelled it so let's see. She was super excited! IdK.
Good to we Mr Maritime in there, what about MOAPC Tales from Zanzibar, it’s a great summer citrus fragrance, £150 per bottle though .
Blue or citrus is the safest, most versatile and most mass appealing imo
Great video, but quite depressing as I don't own a single Level 3 fragrance. I own BdC EdP, but that's as close as I came since the parfum was the actual pick in this category. I have a long way to go in my journey.

Love this concept! One question, what exactly is the difference between Alexandria II and III?
Hey Omar, great video and choices. You missed the fougere/barbershop fragrances. Any recommendations here?
There has to be a better blue than Channel for the top tier. I just got my Mr. Majestic today. Good stuff Omar. 🎉
Great concept. I think a leather concept and a fougère would be a great idea also.

I'm running out of my polo red intense and you said it was the best one. :( I was a huge fan of the cranberry citrusy fresh opening
Aqua sextius should ve been mentioned in the awuatic section
It s incredible
I don t think it s better than 40 knots but still

Omar, what do you think of Black Panther as a blue fragrance? To me it does everything the conventional blues do but better.
I wouldn’t see it as Blue personally

For me Reflection 45 by Amouage takes the cake as the best iris fragrance on the market

Well done. Nothing more can be added.

Channel allure extreme homme sport is basically a adult baby powder smell, and I mean that in a good way people like it
Surprised you didn’t give any love to Cedrat Boise or 7 Cobalt
Hey omar, what kind of doctor are/were you?
Early again ‼️
Thanks great information.
dior savage edt and rasasi hawas is in which category
I just got a clone of Amouage Interlude Black Iris and it almost killed me.
