I've had my AL13 mild for about a month now and it is hands down "the one" for me. I own about 8 other safety razors from Merkur, Leaf, etc. to me the Henson is in a league of it's own. Far less burn than any other safety razor I have and is truly a joy to use. I can pretty much shave with reckless abandon and not worry about getting cut.
@@quintonrichards4805 To me the Henson is definitely less aggressive than my Merkur 34-C. You might be thinking, well if it's that mild how can it give me a close shave? But it does, and that's why I consider the Henson is in a class by itself. It shaves as close as a more aggressive razor while at the same time being more forgiving than an aggressive razor. Something that IMO had not been achieved until the Henson.
I own the Henson razor in medium aggression. It's amazing. Closest shave with least irritation. The designers use it with little or no lather. Go ahead and use lather, preferably whipped up from a quality shave soap, well hydrated. It'll be your best shave ever.
I currently shave with a Merkur 34cHD. I am wanting to get a Henson. Would you suggest getting the mild version and maybe using sharper blades or getting the medium version ?
I have the Merkur 34C HD and the regular mild Henson AL13. The merkur is more aggressive. The AL13 is very mild in comparison. If you have a heavy beard maybe get the medium version.
Hi @HensonShaving ! is there any project to design an adjustable version of the Henson, I hope you will take the plunge in near future as Blackland did with the Osprey … I had to put aside my Medium HS for the lack of adjustability and reuse my heavy parker variant till I get the Osprey in Titanium
I use a Gillette MkIII and go through one blade about every 4-6 months. The problem is that people don't know how to take care of their razors. After shaving just rinse everything from the blades then run the blades crossways through the piles of a towel to dry them completely. Store your razor in a drawer where moisture won't get to it. It is the moisture that corrodes the edge of the blade and makes it dull.
I am not a cartridge fan, having transitioned to DE razors about 2 years ago at the start of the pandemic, and I do not think I will ever go back.. But there is a lot of truth to what Jim is saying here. I live in a very humid environment, and to make matters worse, we keep our shaving gear in the bathroom, which is often the most humid room in the house. I would rather have a crappy blade right out of the package than an excellent blade with three shaves on it that is a week old. And it's not just the number of shaves on a blade, it's how long it's been out of its package in the humid environment.
The tolerances for the Razor might be strict, but the blade have bigger tolerances no? Blades and vary widely, at least more than a thickness of paper. Therefore the blade can stick out a lot.
The variance from blade to blade will add to the variance of resulting exposure. This is an industry wide issue that all razors are subject to, however we combat it in several ways. 1) We use the tabs to align the centrality which is more accurate than the diamond slots. 2) We hold tolerances on critical features that influence exposure, very tightly so that the variance from the blade is not as impactful on the resulting exposure (whereas if we had looser tolerances, the varying exposure would result in even more variance causing a more drastic under or over efficiency/aggressiveness. 3) We manufacture the location of the tabs on the top cap, in the same operation as the shave plane face (except for +++ which has more leniency) which governs the centrality of the exposure relative to the blade and its position. The tolerance is not made by any specific blade. The geometry is created based on the size and thickness of a blade that is representative of the median size where most blades measure. The tolerances are set mostly irrespective of the blade size, brand or other geometry.
🤣 out loud... A well taken care of Henson razor will last a lifetime, the majority of people's shoes cost more than $70 and they'll be in the landfill in less than a decade. Depending on your age it's a wonderful value at $70.00 for a lifetime of shaving.
@Mi Dios Well anything can fail, especially when misused. But let's say you only get 30 years worth of shaves instead of 60 years it's still not a bad investment.
The medium i heard is good but not as much of a clean shave as the agressive from ti22. i'll be getting the ti22 soon so i'll see what the hype is about

How does it compare to a Merkur 34-C assuming that’s the one you own?

Been using mine for a few years now. Colour is the same, no damage, shaves perfect. Best Razor handle ever owned.

Who is the voice actor here? He did well.
Our voice "actor" is actually our in house Graphic Designer. He voices and designs our content. We will let him know you said so!

No plans for an adjustable razor at this time. With adjustability, you lose precision.

Very well made razor.
Can you make it cheaper the 70 bucks

@Mi Dios If you only use it for shaving and don't do anything stupid with it.

Come on man. Seriously? You are getting a quality razor. If you want cheap, go buy one of those Chinese razors from Global.
@@MDR-hn2yz they ant no com on only if your. That ingnert to buy one
For a head shaver would you recommend the mild or medium Henson? My normal head razor is currently the Gillette Fusion
I have the mild. I use it on my head for razor fading and neck regularly. Very smooth shaver.

The Henson razor is a fantastic razor, there's nothing that even comes close.
The best razor on 🌎.... The end.
Narrator has excessive vocal fry.
How long before they start promoting them to non shaving girls?
