The chemistry and dialogue between these 3 is unmatched. Seriously. The best Our Bmx podcasts in existence are the ones with Moeller, Dennis, and Fudger.
It’s always nice when the guest don’t drink. The fact that it’s someone as influential as Chris it’s good for BMX. Congratulations Moeller! It don’t take long to see and feel the difference it makes.
Speaking of riders moving the needle ... Stumbling on a Todd Spriet Instagram post is what inspired me to get back on a bike after 20+. Several thousand $ later and I'm riding a Fit 22" daily, with a few extra builds sitting in queue. 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 Great "What Happened " as usual. 🎉
Kind thanks for the mention on the Stash x Serotonin video. Quick correction, the video was not for motobunka film festival, it was a 5 day trip video to South Korea with the Serotonin crew.
I DEF agree with Chris that you can't measure a rider's financial contribution to a team/brand. The reason for my statement was to try and put into context the amount of business that needs to happen in order to pay a rider and bankroll a team. A lot of time there is a misunderstanding of what it takes to pay for a team and why the succeed or fail. Bottom line is we all benefit when there are more riders able to make a living from riding, It makes our sport a lot more exciting to follow along with and be a part of.. So when programs are struggling to survive i think its helpful to talk about what makes or breaks a brand, team or sponsorship.
I have to hope that most people didn't miss the point that it's not about a specific number, it's about that as a professional at anything you get paid because you personally generate significant value or revenue for whoever is paying you. It seems pretty obvious that a company needs to be building product, selling product and shipping product before anyone gets paid. They can't just sell 10 or 20 frames and then pay out a bunch of salaries without someone going into debt.
41:00 at age 41 I physically can't wear Vans any more. The waffle sole is awful. Try a pair of Five Tens or even the Terrex shoes and there is no going back. Maybe if Vans brought back their early 2000's shoes (Rowley XLT, etc.) that had a some cushion instead of that thin, heavy, brick of waffle they call a sole. Protect those feet! Not to mention that Vans is not the small, SoCal core company that it once was. They are a huge, trendy $4B conglomerate - not really a lifestyle brand any more.
That's a nice compliment to UK riders being the first real street riders and they do deserve credit. I rode from the start of oldschool in the UK and through midschool and sure, we had really good riders innovating tricks but the influence was from you guys in mags and VHS tapes. There would be no UK street riding scene if it wasn't for the street legends from across the pond. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm discrediting the legendary riders like Campbell etc
Stoked about x-games in Sac but Cal Expo has ZERO SHADE, it's all concrete and it gets to about 100-110 here during that time of the year so be prepared people!
Fit frames are $1400 here in Aus. Most other brands like Colony and Fiend have hit about $799 now. Bars that were $100 maybe 3 years ago are now pushing $180-$200. Shit is getting ridiculous for kids to get into bikes here.
41:005:10(Adidas) has a full range of clipless, stiff flats and lifestyle based soft flats like the traditional Vans. Because they started in rock climbing, the rubber compounds they use are unmatched by any normal shoe brand, unless a brand uses another climbing developed rubber like Vibram. In other words, they're a tough competitor for anyone that's not Vans
Solid way to start the year boys. Thanks for all you guys do for BMX it’s got to be a lot of work getting schedules to line up. Side note totally edging for the Castillo poddie 🎉
Bmx deffo needs more product reviews , testing, explaining .. them old odi and source clips by fudger helped me get back into bikes and order a full costum from fly to suit my build and planned style of riding after being out for 15yr
Great episode! In regards to Vans vs 510…. Id love to wear Vans but they refuse to make their BMX line in size 14. 510 makes size 14 and 15 in all of their shoes, so many guys like me with a size 14+ gravitate to 510 as a result.
Mueller dude, you gotta do something about QC on 2.4 wide mailines and wide mouth forks big time. The last half dozen mailines I've bought are far from round or straight. The wide mouths I bought for both my 22 and 20 only fit a 2.4 by a couple mm... if I can find a straight and round tire. Mailines are my fave but I'm switching to Odyssey from here out until S&M tire quality comes up.
Learn how to spell mainline. Also, your wheels are not true bud. Lastly, clearance is clearance. There is no ‘X amount of clearance’ standard or information listed for the product. You are whack dude
Beyond me how anyone in the bmx industry could criticise the Redbull video, considering about 95% of bmx (particularly street) videos are nothing more than artsy-fartsy B reel footage with occasional riding clips thrown in.. Not to mention the drab music on most of them too. Good to see something different - who knows we might start to see videos again that actually inspire people to go riding.
You can make a video without “artsy fartsy” B reel (I guess you mean film) and gopro cams. PLENTY of them are made that way. One of the wealthiest companies involved in BMX finding weaker and more convenient ways to show BMX through the medium of video is not a win.
Culture and art and expression is an inherently bad thing for bmx. Especially if it’s something different and challenging that will make your brain slightly less smooth. Right?
I rode with Stephen Murray’s 2 kids at Fdr on a random weekday in the morning. Really nice kids both very talented riders as well. Figured I’d share my experience came to mind when you guys where talking about Steve.
2:22:24 Ryan Fudger and Chris Moeller, two BMX company owners and people who never used BMX sponsor money to pay their rent, think there takes a certain level of insight and experience to understand their perspective as if it doesn’t work like that the other way around. It’s no surprise that seasoned pro and previous teammate of Garrett’s is the only one to defend him when they suggest Garrett just doesn’t understand. Chris Mueller: “When this argument was taking place he hadn’t been in it as long as he’s been in it now” Then later… Ryan Fudger: “Maybe it’s becomes a little more real” (referring to Ty Morrow leaving) And Moeller had to imagine an implausible scenario where Garrett manages Fiend as the sole face of the company to respond to Garrett’s concerns of how he takes care of his riders, ultimately avoiding and not responding to Garrett’s criticisms since this scenario in no way applies to him. 2:21:15 “I try and promote as much as I can…” “You sponsor these riders cuz it’s good for business but you also sponsor them because you enjoy it” “…and they promote the same lifestyle that your trying to promote. They’re a good representative of your brand” “He [Garrett] likes hooking dudes up” Moeller continues to push back on the idea that he depends on his riders to maintain his companies by framing his sponsoring these riders as generous favors, purely altruistic. Every single company depends on its employees, riders included, to make it work and grow. There’s A LOT of BMX brands providing quality and innovation. However, not every BMX brand has your favorite rider, not every one of them puts up your favorite events, or makes your favorite videos. RIDING, that’s what gets people stoked, that’s what makes the community, seeing it, doing it, and sharing it. If S&M and F-it didn’t have a single rider people are stoked on, they’d be suffering. Moeller drunken jump to bike drag isn’t enough to create the current and next generation’s stoke. Fiend is THE SHIT. Garrett as a rider who competes at the top level of BMX and continues to progress the sport is one of the reasons the brand is so great. Another is that he understands pro riders perspective in a way that Chris and other employers like Ryan think are beneath them.
Weexy riding across AUS is my big bro and if you happen to come across his page at all please donate as it’s all for mental health. Big ups Weexy love ya my bro Naxe life
Nowear BMX Is hosting the middle of nowear contest on April 12th! I noticed it was in the event’s list but you skipped right over it. Any particular reason for that?
Personally havent bought a pair of vans for myself since probaly 98' the tom boyls were the best. Stiff but flexable, mid top, leather that wasent plastic and triple stich! New vans are just trash. My 9 year old rips them apart in less than 6 months. The best shoes are most definitely globe saber's, thier stiff, supportive, comfortable, felxable, air soles, no need for laces even with the deleted tounge. I have pairs ive worn for over 5 years and still use them to work in. Gonna have to buy a 15 years supply, cuz thier becoming harder to find. Hard to compete with a company like vans i guess..
I wanna start a vlog style. Where i record the whole day and just upload it no cuts. Would yall be interested in it gonna be around the fort wayne indiana area and can show the real sights 😅
On the gt thing, for the last year you could buy a brand new bike and get one for free, that definitely had to contribute to the current state their in
Dennis, if you cussed less, you'd get your points across better, and be more confident. Also having an independent opinion isn't a bad thing. You don't have to like everything bro.
Hannah was an embarrassment to our country in the Olympics. Acting like a baby because she threw away her run, then clipped or whatever on the second. Couldn’t even crowd please and send some tricks. Moeller pods are the best. Thanks fellas. Happy new year.
Best way to start 2025. Thanks for being on top of things and dropping this right at the beginning of 2025

We need a Rick Moliterno episode.

Yeah not the typical month with all the heavy news and Moeller’s input is worth its weight in gold so it definitely ran longer than normal.
