As a teacher for over 50 years, let me advise you. Creating your channel is the best thing you can do for yourself. Teaching is a labor of love, but in this day and age, remember that it is labor that is also subject to market pressures and demands. There is no guarantee that you will be able to keep your school job for another 10 years. As you have advised your students many times over, keep learning and developing new skills and interests. Your channel will be very successful, keep going.
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 I taught all ages from preschool to college level. I had the absolute most fun and challenge teaching kindergarten. I did 25 years as a kindergarten teacher until I retired. I was one of the few men in America who taught this long at this grade level. I am now adult ed at a technical college and a women's prison.
@@beautifullifesageg.3951 Oh no, I can't believe I didn't respond and answer your question sooner. Here's the short version: I've taught all the grades from preschool through 12 grade. My favorite group was kindergarteners- 25 years teaching this age group full time. I also taught Ed classes as an adjunct at the college level. Along with this I was a principal teacher, program director, grant writer, staff trainer and held some other positions in the districts. I also spent 25 years as a firefighter/EMT, did construction work, and worked as a professional musician. I did 15 years as a private pilot. I learned a lot of other things from a lot of great people. When you spend 35 years in bush Alaska, you learn and adapt or you perish. I currently teach adult ed classes at a technical college and teach in a women's prison. My favorite passion is helping and seeing people succeed. Ah, enough about me; let's enjoy all the new UA-camrs you are motivating and inspiring.
Jen, I retired at 52, 4 years ago and I feel you and your fears of the process. You are doing all the right things in getting yourself ready. I think you’ll be surprised how quickly your days will fill up. Keep learning new things, go on long walks regularly, find places to volunteer, take classes of some kind. But also, allow yourself time to rest and recover. I can’t wait to see you get monetized!
Hi Kris! I really appreciate your thoughts. Yes..I am putting some of those things into practice now. This channel, for a start, longer walks, and deep self-care practices when I remember. 😉✨💕
I’m 43 and I’ve been working since I was 14. I love UA-cam and I too, am learning. It’s fun to learn and get better and witness growth within. As I learn more in my studies and share here, I get more pumped to do this channel. 😊 Thanks for sharing your “why.” 😊
Thanks Anisha! Your kindness is appreciated. 🙏. I will be doing these videos until I reach monetization. Then I’ll be focusing solely on lifestyle in my 50’s videos to talk about transitions, challenges, and epiphanies I’m having as I gain more wisdom. I have some of those videos already posted and hope you come back to watch them when you can. I appreciate you being here!
August! 🎉 you have some time! You got this❤ thank you for being a teacher, the most influential people in my life and my children’s have been good teachers. I loved our mall time back in the day. I love how similar we are and we have similar goals. We got this Jen. ❤
