man i'd searched the entire youtube, and this one is the one and only video that explain completely everything that i needed about polaroid cameras. liked subed and turned notification on :D ty
It's nearly impossible to find someone who knows what they're on about when it comes to Polaroids these days. I'm getting a 660 Autofocus soon, and this was really helpful!
I thrifted a Polaroid I’m so confused!!! My Polaroid looks similar to the one in 4:50 but it says |rainbow| “POLAROID 6 | logo | LAND CAMERA” On the top thing next to the flash, BUT on the bottom thing where you put in the film it says on the bottom right corner in gold “AUTOFOCUS” and in red “660” AND When I open the thing where I’m supposed to put in the film there’s a green sticker looking like this: | FILM: POLAROID | Made in..| |. 600. | (Stamp). | Meaning I should use a 600 film. So my question is, WHY does it say “autofocus 660” on the Outside of the camera on the bottom, while it says “Polaroid 600 land camera” on the top of it. ?? Did you get the camera already? Could you help me out here?
My friend and I went thrift shopping yesterday and I stumbled upon a Polaroid 600 AND a Polaroid One (which we later found out is no longer being made). We bought both and immediately went to Target to get some film and our first shots were beautiful! I didn't understand the close up function super well so that's why I watched your video but you gave me tons of other helpful information. Thank you so much!
I also found a 635 polaroid while thrifting. However i am skeptical about buying it since i watched the reviews for the camera and half the photos are out of focus or offcenter since its a rangefinder.
I bought an amigo 620 (needs a flash bar) for $1. Went and bought film and sadly every shot except 1st and last came put black because of horrible lighting. I need a $100 flashbar 😭
I have an original Polaroid 600 I bought used in the 90s. I didn't think they made film for it anymore but couldn't bring myself to throw it away. I'm glad I didn't. Thanks for the guide.
I didn't even think of looking for one at a thrift store. I just bought a 600 on the Polaroid Originals website and it was $185 for the camera and 3 packs of film. Really wish u watched this first. Great video.
Polaroid Originals does a nice job of cleaning up and refurbishing their cameras so you can usually rely on those ones a little more then a thrift store find sometimes!
I just acquired a vintage 600 from my grandmother, the one she would take pictures with when my mom and aunts were just babies. Very excited to get some film (now that I know what to get) and see if this old thing still works! Thank you so much for the video, I learned a lot!
I still remember getting that Impulse as a birthday gift when it was still a new, modern-styled camera. Loved that thing, and wish I still had it, but when the film prices approached a buck a shot, I stopped using it, and it eventually got tossed. :/ I also remember that my grandparents had a few Polarioid Safety Flashers. They were a 4" round amber blinking light in a red reflective frame with a wire stand that you could put behind your car if you broke down, and they would make use of the partially drained batteries from old Polaroid packs for power, which kept them flat and light.
Finally someone who tells people to.avoid the one step 600 with out flash I hate that camera and people keep buying them might as well get 600 models with flash
Exactly! The 600 cameras are perfect because of how versatile and well suited they are for indoors and outdoors. Stripping the flash feature away removes much of that functionality and there's not much point of choosing one of those models.
@@AnalogResurgence Yeah, I think those were sold as budget models. Mine is branded "Spirit" instead of "One Step 600" but looks identical. Yeah, they rebranded this basic design many, many times.
The red button on front is for charging the flash, not firing with the flash. This is why if you press the red button first, then the other one, the flash may still fire. also the flash may charge automatically when the flashbar is pulled up.
The button behind is also called a flash overide, you push the red button once without pushing all the way and the flash charges, and when the flash is charged and you push the red button all the way the flash should fire, it's just not all polaroids have a working flash overide
I used to work at this job where we would we dump old furniture, and boxes of random things inside and I usually don’t check what’s inside but I decided to check because it was my last day working that job so why not haha and I ended up finding a Polaroid One-step 600 in really good condition. That was back in 2020 and never thought of testing it so I just left it in my closet, i was at Walmart today and saw 600 film and decided to get it. Turns out the camera works :)
I have a Polaroid 600 One Step, but I don't see it anywhere on your video. it says on the front "One Step Flash." You taught me a few things that I didn't know/didn't remember about it, since I bought it new back in the '80s. Thank you!
My man, THAAANK YOUUU for being so in depth with thi and all your reviews, first video and I already know I’m gonna love your content, keep up the hard work bro this is nice, very informative and easy to follow 😮💨👌
Hi Noah! Great video explaining the 600 series cameras. I just subscribed. I have a base Impulse like you show towards the end of the video, that was sitting in a drawer for many years. I just ordered the new 600 film 2 pack and will see how it works when it arrives. Thanks for rekindling my interest in Polaroid again!
Found a Impulse AF I got secondhand as a kid, just ordered a 2 pack of new 600 film cartridges to see if it's survived, it looks to be in perfect shape, but I did have it as a kid so yeah, Heh
LOVE your videos, just one tip for post production is that you should tone down your blacks since they are getting distorted / pix-elated (This can be done in camera or in your editing software). feel free to reach out if you need any help.

Thanks a lot for this tutorial. I just found a Polaroid 600 in the recycling bin at work. It has film in it. The number in the little window is 8, so 8-2=6 exposures, I guess. The camera is totally dead. Maybe I can find a video on how to save this film.....maybe.
I picked up a One Step Flash for $20 at a yard sale. I'm going on a cruise & thought it might be fun. In the past I've always used 35mm. But it's hard to find, expensive to buy & then have it developed. No one does 1 hour photo anymore from film, only digital. I was running the photolab at a Walgreens when they got their first digital kiosk. Now you have to send it away like the old days. ( I'm 66) My question is do you think I should get some SX70 in addition to the 600 film for shooting outside in the bright sunlight? I always used 400 for my 35mm unless I knew I was going to be outside, like at a baseball game. Then I would pick up some 200. I think the 100 iso would work fine for bright sun around water.
I wonder why they don’t just put 10 frames in a pack. I mean if it’s the price point, ppl will still buy it. I watched this video bc I decided to use my old 600 after not using it for 25 years. Got it in the 5th grade I believe. Thanks for the vid

Hello great video thank you ! I found a Polaroid 600 in the cupboard. Hasn’t been used for 30 years plus . I got film and tried it today , photos come out very dark for some reason . Light slider in the middle. Any idea why this happens? Maybe I should clean it with alcohol first?
I just got a 600 Supercolor Polaroid camera, made sure the film I got was for the 600 series and yet the films are not developing correctly? This camera does not have flash so I have been making sure the pictures I take are in very well lit rooms or doing sunny days… yet they do not develop. What am I doing wrong?

Am I able to open the film compartment with a film inside, or is that the same as opening a 35mm camera with film in it? I need to open the camera to install a new frog tongue. Just wondering I need to shoot the remaining shots before I can install it Thanks!
I just got the Polaroid 600 Cool Cam Instant Camera Red Polaroid 600 Job Pro Instant Camera Polaroid OneStep 600 Instant Film Camera with Rainbow Stripe For about $80 all together
I recent got a Polaroid 50th anniversary Sun 660 auto focus se. But the flash charging light stays on red and there's a clicking sound. Can't really find any info on what it could be. Do you think you know how I can fix it?
I have a onestep600 and tried to take a photos without the flash bar as I wasn't aware it needed it. A lot of my photos were too dark to make out. Do you think it's even worth keeping and trying to shoot with?
It’s really important to shield them from the sun when they come out of the camera and for the first minute or so (I like to throw mine in a backpack or pocket)! If they’re really too bright then there’s a slider that will give you brighter or darker images, it should be on the front of your camera under your lens maybe and you can slide that to the darker side!
Thank you for the informative video! I have a question: I can choose between the following 4 cameras but I honestly have no idea what the difference between them is: the 600, the 636 closeup, the 670AF and the Autofocus660. I was told that the last 2 are "better" and should be more expensive but not why. Could you help me? :)
The 636 has a small slider for a lens piece that allows you to get a little closer to your subject (about 2 ft away). The other models will only focus as close as 4 feet I believe. The 670 and the 660 are essentially the same camera, but with maybe different colours or names. They both have autofocus units on them. The 600 model is very basic and doesn't have anything special to it. The 670, 660, and 636 are all good choices really!
Question! I have a Polaroid one step express and the battery appears to be dead... I may be mistaken, but is the battery not part of the film cartridge? It's impossible project film and I should have 7 shots left in my cartridge. What should I do? Is it possible to "jump start" the battery and not waste the film?
That’s when it becomes a little difficult, when a film pack is dead the only way to get this pictures is to actually have a second empty pack with a working battery. In the dark you have to change the film from one to the other. It’s the big downfall of the Polaroid pack design when the battery dies like that
Hi! I have a Polaroid land camera autofocus 660 and I put a new pack of film in and after some struggle, it took one pic of my nose but isn’t taking pics anymore. Should I just get a new one?
There's sadly not much that you can do. Many of these Polaroid cameras aren't the most high quality and it's likely easier to buy another than it normally is to have one repaired.
your polaroid collection makes my mouth water
Pause.

Hey quick question for you! Loved this video.
For the 660 sun autofocus, when you use the autofocus override is there a minimum distance from subjects in order for it to be in focus?
I imagine sonar is more useful when you’re closer to your subject. So overriding it is probably a good idea if you’re far away from your subject?
Most of these Polaroid cameras have a minimum focus distance of about 4 feet usually. I believe that's what it is for this specific camera as well!

Great vid, thanks.
600 Polaroid film is still being sold on ebay, even though some of the 600 Polaroid film is as old as 35 years old!!!!!
i just bought a polaroid 600 and tried taking pictures outside but they turned out super exposed! do you have any tips for beginners? :)
@@AnalogResurgence alright, thank you so much!
I was always under the impression you can't use 600 and SX-70 film in each others cameras???
excellent video!!!!!
I’m sure you mentioned it, somewhere, but I’m dense: What is the difference between the 600 and the 640?
Do you have any info on how much the exposure compensation changes the exposure? Like if you put SX70 film in a 600 camera and cranked the lighten up?
I have the one step 600 rainbow and I don't have a flash I would like to use it but I guess the flash is necessary? What do you recommend me?
Hi my friend! I want to ask you something..Do you know the difference between Polaroid 636 close up and Polaroid One Step Autofocus??
Hey! Great video, does a 600 bulb ever burn out? What do you do if it does
There's sadly not much that you can do. Many of these Polaroid cameras aren't the most high quality and it's likely easier to buy another than it normally is to have one repaired.
