    Thank you so much for your tutorial! I just did it and all worked well. As many others, I used WD40 to clean the glue, and it works just fine especially if you use some plastic scraper in addition.

    I have had this same charging problem with an Asus Transformer TF100TA, and the solution was to use the original charger, or one that gives you 10 Volts, and use a high quality USB cable with a ferrule. (The original Adapter is rated at 10 watts, 5.3 volts, and 2.1 Amps. I got this info off the internet, because the writing on the original is so tiny it's undreadable, and in brown ink on black plastic. F.U. Asus.) The cable I use is under $5 at monoprice, it does not have to be expensive, just better than cheap. Most chargers will not charge a TF100 tablet.
    Thanks for uploading this video. I am seriously considering replacing my battery because it does discharge very fast. I would definitely have given up if I got to the battery and found no way to detach it. Seeing you do it gives me hope that I can do it. Thanks.

      This is good info - thanks. I will go check the charger I'm using to see if it meets the specs. Since I replaced the battery it has been charged a few times and so far no problems....
      Cheers, John

    I just successfully removed my battery with a little WD-40 and an old "credit card" (actually, a shopper's card with the least metal in it and a smooth face, so that no embossed name or anything would scratch the battery). I squirted just a little WD-40 under the lower edge of the battery, then stuck the card in and gently pushed at the glue. I worked at it like that for maybe 5 minutes, then squirted a little more WD-40 and continued with the card. The whole operation took about 30 minutes. I think that I could've done it faster, but I was being super careful because the battery was bloated and I was nervous that it'd be easier to puncture. If your battery is bloated, you can still remove it; just take your time and be careful, as I was.

    Thanks a lot. I used your video to as a guide to change out my battery. I took less than 3 minutes.
    Here's what I found that will make the whole process a breeze.
    Peel the black label off the top edge. It creates a flap that allows you to pull the battery off the tape. You have to pull it slowly.
    You can feel the adhesive give little by little. Just pull up and place your finger on the metal plate. it will give. The old battery
    will bend and off it comes. The adhesive will remain and you can use it again.

    Hello there. I came across your video while looking up why my t100ta was shutting down after 30 minutes. I've come to the conclusion that the battery is going to poop, since I did the "hard reboot" via disconnecting the battery on the inside. So I'm curious where did you purchase your battery and does it work as it should?

    • @Zone1242
      @Zone1242  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, yes the battery works fine - so long as you use the ASUS charger. ASUS chargers deliver over 5volts (5.15v - 5.2v) so their batteries will not charge properly using a regular 5v power brick. I suspect this is because of the design of the charging circuit rather than the battery itself. I got mine from batteryupgrade.ch (I'm in Switzerland) but I'm sure you'll find it on the various battery upgrade sites or on eBay, etc.

      @@Zone1242 Thank you for replying so quickly. Luckily I still have my asus charger, though I may order a new one in case mine is faulty. My tablet is weird, the 30 minute thing happens both on and off the charger and when plugged in the battery % doesn't change like it should. I think these tablets are just overall finicky. Thanks again for the info and the link. ^_^

    Tuolulene is best for removing adhesive. Sometimes sold as part of "adhesive remover".
    The first thing he does is remove a small ribbon cable in the lower left corner. This was not necessary and is a PITA to reconnect.
    Also, I don't see it's necessary to remove the old adhesive from under the battery.

    On the T100 is there a way to circumvent the battery and use only AC power?

    • @Zone1242

      I don't know but it should be easy to find out - just pop the back off and unplug the battery. Mine's been working fine since the battery replacement so I'm not inclined to mess with it.

      Not entirely - the battery was faulty but in order for ASUS laptops to charge correctly you have to use the ASUS charger. On some occasions I had been using a standard USB (5v) charger but the ASUS needs about 5.2v and you need to use their charger. I now make sure to use only trhat one for this laptop and it has been fine ever since.

    Hello is it possible to add new USB port in the screen for wired keyboard or mouse dongle ? I'd love to have new USB 2.0 port in the screen unit just like Microsoft Surface pro, rather than on the keyboard dock,
    Thanks dude

      I agree it would be great to have a regular USB port on the tablet itself but alas I don't see any practical way to achieve it.

    Is it normal when the charger is turned on to give 0.8 volts to 1.2v to the battery, provided that it is allowed to work from 1.5 to 6 volts, for example. The asus ta100 hybrid has a charging problem, the battery is not swollen :) The indication when charging is also not lit !?

    • @Zone1242
      @Zone1242  2 роки тому

      I doubt that this is the case. For mine, the charger has to provide 5.1v in order for the battery to charge correctly and to light the indicator, etc. Even a regular USB 5v charger is not sufficient, it requires 5.1v so only the ASUS charger will work.

    Not too difficult. Firstly the T100 cover is just prised of there are no secret screws. Brute force will remove the old battery. Perhaps I was lucky I just prised the old battery out with a small screw driver. Be careful positioning the new battery the battery space is very sticky , you only get one chance to position the new battery. It took a good few hours to charge the new battery.

      Interestingly, WD-40 was not designed to be a lubricant (and is a fairly poor one). "WD" stands for 'water displacement'. It was designed to be a coating keep condensation from building up on the outside of missile/rocket LOX tanks, as well as protect the skin from corrosion.

    • @Zone1242
      @Zone1242  3 роки тому

      The four most common problems tend to be -
      1. using the wrong charger. A regular 5v charger won't work, must be the original ASUS charger which ouputs about 5.2v.
      2. The charge port has been damaged. This needs professional repair. If its the cable connector you can swap it for another one.
      3. The battery is faulty. This was my case. You can see what's involved so you can decide if you can do this yourself or if it needs professional repair.
      4. Sometimes it is the battery charging circuitry that is the problem. Again, needs professioal repair.
      I hope this helps.
