"I never went gold off one song" and look at him now, two diamond albums, one of only 7 people to ever go diamond, only one to go diamond twice and a world class artist who still hungers to improve and get better than he was yesterday... a true inspiration
3 diamond albums now
@@harshsinghbindra7471 what’s the third?
@@johnc6158 MMLP, TES, and Curtain Calls: The Hits
Honestly a lot of his albums are nearly diamond. I think Recovery may be diamond now. SSLP is fairly close, Curtain Call is fairly close as well. I think..though if I'm not mistaken in the last couple years Recovery also went Diamond. Along with MMLP and The Eminem Show
@@TryPuttingItInRice not surprised Curtain Call has made it. It's been on upper half of the Billboard Charts for years now. Even if it took a little while it kept selling every year it was out.
React to Eminem's "careful what you wish for" you won't be disappointed!!
Yesss
Yes! I am in for that one!
Yes dude it’s like the opposite of this song being so famous and hating it
In here on a daily basis looking for that one😬🤞🏻
Yeah that’s one of his best fr
This was from the end of the 90’s and was written right after a suicide attempt
@Xxaphius nope it was written in 1996 or 7 and he tried to OD on Advil after recording
This was wrote right before he got famous so the words are all 100% how he was feeling, this one of my favorite albums for that reason. Really is prefamous him
written
@@chungboislim2061 what was written, was wrote and what was wrote was written.... same thing Sherlock
@@justininnes6260 Wrote is the simple past tense of "to write."
Written is the past participle of "to write."
...not the same thing
@@justininnes6260 It just doesnt even sound right
@@justininnes6260 So what was written was written. It never "was wrote". Wrote is used like "I wrote that" vs "I had written that". Look it up if you don't believe me. Most people can just tell when to use which one without needing to understand grammar.
He wrote this in 1997. He was broke. Great Reaction ❤️
EMINEM actually recorded this and a song called If I Had A Million Dollars right before he was signed and basically recorded them again with better quality to release officially.
If I Had is literally a different song lmao, don't be acting like you know
@@ImVxpour what the hell are you talking about? I only said that he recorded both songs before he was famous. Your reply makes no sense whatsoever with the comment you posted it on. The only thing that even remotely connects it is the name of the song. You seem to be implying that I thought they were the same which is not a claim I made. I merely stated that they were both recorded roughly around the same time.
If I had is one of my favorites too. The verse about wearing the same pair of Lugz was like a whole story to me. I can’t imagine what it was like to go to the clubs and open mics, the only white guy, wearing the same clothes every time because you’re poor, trying to get noticed despite not having a fresh ‘fit or any flash. To keep doing it over and over takes more guts than I have. It would only take a couple of times before I’d quit. Hell, I quit water aerobics because it was mostly older women who were all friends and I felt left out. But you’re right, they were on Slim Shady EP that he put out himself before Dre and they just got a little better production.
Em’s daughter Hailie is grown now and has a podcast “A Little Shady”. I’m so impressed by her and the type of woman she grew into. So many 20 something women with rich parents seem to struggle to be okay with who they are. They get plastic surgery and almost try to become a caricature of what advertisement show as “sexy” just to feel that they have worth. She and her best friend are just a breath of fresh air. I’m 48, my daughter is of a similar age. I went through really tough times too, but I think that maybe being there helps us have perspective as people and parents. Hearing this track brings home how far he came and I imagine he must feel that he accomplished his goals in life just because he did the most difficult thing ever- he broke the cycle of generational trauma, poverty, and addiction.
She is so much like her dad. Enjoying the money but remembering what it was like without it.
It was written in 97' 3 days before a suicide attempt
This song always hit so crazy as a father of four beautiful girls who was damn near homeless when his first baby girl was born(kicked out because I got my now wife of many years pregnant my Junior year of HS) man those times were so tough there was literally nothing I wasn't doing to try and provide many of which I'm not proudof. So glad to not be in that situation anymore. Amazing reaction as usual 😁
Another really good Eminem song I'd like to see you react to is "Difficult" Feat. Obie Trice. It was never released on any album but its on UA-cam, and he does into a lot of detail surrounding the death of his best friend (Proof/Doody/DeShaun) that he's mentioned in several of his other songs. I really really think this song would be PERFECT for this series!
Deja vu is Eminem being 100% honest with himself and his listeners/Stan’s and it one of my personal favs and it right up your ally to react to, Eminem is Truly a Genuine artist and it’s the best in the world keep up the good work
I just stumbled across your channel and I have to say I love hearing your thoughts on these songs. It's super interesting watching your reactions and hearing you break down what you're listening to. Someone in the comment section of one of your other videos compared your demeanor to that of Bob Ross and I couldn't agree more. I'd like to request that you do a video on the song Deja Vu by Eminem. Keep doing what you're doing!
Eminem says "lifetime bliss for eternal torture and pain". He was at rock bottom and willing to do anything and everything to make it out. Fast forward and he' has become the biggest hip hop artist and one of the biggest artist ever. There have been many times Eminem has said that if he could give it all back, he would. Rock Bottom came out in 1999 before he made it big. By 2002 he was an international star and was already writing lyrics about how he wish he could give everything back. Like in the song "Say Goodbye Hollywood" he says "If I could go back, I never would've rapped/I just wanna leave this game with level head intact". The whole song is about how a part of him wishes he wasn't where he was at because of the negative side effects, but those two lines really tell you how he feels and how he felt up until he recovered from drugs. The duality of man is amazing.
I've heard this soo many times but every time i hear it I'm at a new low.
I hope you’re up now bro 🙏🏽

he wrote this when he was broke cornered with no way out
Love your energy, you passion your view in life. Stay happy!
Much love from Denmark!
Slim Shady LP. Written a bit before that after a Tylenol suicide attempt.
Can't believe I've only just come across this channel...love it
Your antibiotic reference helped me a lot. And it’s absolutely point on, I even had that experience before with antibiotics. That really helped me put some puzzle pieces together thank u
Though, to be pedantic, antibiotics don't work on viruses. But the analogy still works.
@@jacobshirley3457 no one cares
Found your videos on tiktok, and its amazing the way you analyze hes songs. Also cant help to notice that they might have had an impact on you too, seems someone judged eminem before he listened. Keep the vids comeing
Great knowledge bombs as always from Tom! Another great reaction therapy!
I’ve been waiting for this one!!!!❤
Nice, 1 of the tracks from sslp that got me appreciating Em as an MC. When he hit the scene in my early 20s.
My wife left me while I was at work and took our 1 yr old daughter. I love hearing you talk about a brighter side, I know I’m not special but this video helped me even if it was just for a moment
Yesss Sir! This is a must on the playlist Big T!✌🏻🥃
So glad you did this little gem of a very personal and emotional song. He was poor as hell when he wrote this
Yeah he wrote this before Dr.Dre found him, there’s an unreleased version.. sounds raw and crazy to listen to.
I think I was 12 the first time I heard this and almost 25 years later it might be an even harder punch in the chest now than it was then. So powerful and I feel like this album contributed to both my empathy and sense of humor big time.
@@SwagMaster824 Em tried taking his own life right after recording that original version, literally the same day...
Do eminem going through changes
Can you react to Eminem "my darling" he talks to himself as a demon please it's so perfect for a therapist to react to
Now you need to do “if i had”
There’s another version before the Dre mixed one. Eminem’s voice was more sadden, Eminem wrote it during his time where he tried to commit suicide. Infinite flopped and he wrote it and recorded he even went to say he didn’t mean to make it so sad he wanted it to be an uplifting song but the original version was such a sad version
Been waiting for you to react to this one.
I gasped seeing this posted. Literally listen to this song so much.. this and Drug Ballad and If I Had from eminem are my favorites and helped me so much I would love to see you react to them! If you like this you'd definitely like If I Had since it's from the same album :)
This is such a good song of his and you did a great reaction to it.
Also, I'm hoping for a reaction to "Beautiful Pain" because I think that's right up your alley :-)
This song and If I Had are my two favorite songs from SSLP they're just so relatable
It's hard to not turn back that lifestyle like when you were talking about how not to go back to rock bottom but I'm trying
This has been one of my favorite em songs for the longest
That's pretty crazy, I picked up my truck from a park and ride after a long day at work. Same thing, got my catalytic converter cut off.
Of course I hadn't opted for comprehensive coverage so it was out of pocket. It's unfortunate but a learning lesson.
Stay safe out there everyone. 🙏
The chorus really hits.
I lost everything; house, car, job, girl, nice clothes, furniture, prized possessions, etc. All within about 6 months. Then struggled just to get by for the next 6 months, and then my mom died suddenly - who was my best friend! Went into a deep depression for about 4 years, all alone with no help in sight.
Finally decided to make one small simple goal, and to stick with it. My goal was to get a job, whatever job I can get, and never miss work - no matter what, no excuses! Now I make 6 figures, have a nice place, and all of the nice things I had before, even nicer!
I use to complain about losing everything before my mom died, then it happened, and I realized that everything I had lost could be replaced, except her. She was gone forever.
Rock bottom can teach you things if you're open to learning. I ended up there mostly through a series of bad choices, or at least not the best choices, and some unfortunate circumstances. Make better choices, get better outcomes. Even if your better choices are simple and/or small, and your outcomes are only slightly better. Just rinse and repeat, and rock bottom will eventually be far beneath the level you have risen to.
I’m a rapper, but I’m not very good yet. Eminem inspires me to keep making my own songs. I have to keep practicing because I’m currently terrible at rapping.
This song makes me cry
Amazing once again
😊👍
EASILY ONE OF eM'S TOP SONGS, AND YEAH, THIS WAS FROM 1ST ALBUM, BEFORE HE BECAME A MEGA-MILLIONAIRE. Em masterpiece!!!
Slim Shady LP is not eminem's first album its his 3rd album after Infinite and Slim Shady EP
When I overdosed on Dilaudid and Xanax it messed me up in a good way that I quit some drugs but I still drink heavily I have Pure O and GAD it's really rough ..
Can relate to this so heavily
This is from his first big studio album after signing with Dr. Dre in 1999! So everything on this album (The Slim Shady LP) is from before he was rich and famous. Great content for more reactions and breakdowns!!
The original demo of this really captures the sadness
React to legacy by Eminem pleaseeeee
love it. old school em was 🐐.
fav line on this song i think is "I got problems...now my whole blocks gotem" savage.
Would love to see you react to “Sing for the moment”!
this was my first favorite song by Eminem ever
It's crazy how much of his new stuff you have reacted to when his first 3 LPs are significantly better, more meaningful, and more related to the topic of psychotherapy. I would enjoy hearing more of the old stuff off MMLP, SSLP, and Eminem Show - when he was actually dealing with relatable shit not just being another rich and famous drug addict.
I used to listen to this all the time.
One of my favorite from him
Check out The Streets -stay positive..was very big in the 2000s in UK
I want to see you react to Stay Wide awake. Would love to see your professional opinion of that one lol
Always great reaction homie towards our goat Marshall Mathers a true Rap God lyrical genius 49 still killing it there's so many songs I can ask you to play you should just start with day one and work your way to all the songs they all definitely worth hearing whether you like it or not you would be the first to react to every Eminem song you won't be disappointed
you should definitely check out "careful what you wish for" by em! he’s looking back at everything that happened since the beginning of his carrer and how he feels about it, that would be an interesting reaction :)
A great reaction as always! I notice you haven’t done anything from twenty one pilots newest album yet and it’s fantastic! It tells such a fantastic story throughout but my personal favourite to read in to is redecorate. Give it a listen!
A psychotherapist who hangs a UA-cam Plack as their most notable credential. Surly this guy is legit.
"it's cool to the player, but it sucks to be the fan, but all you need is drugs to be the man, plus a luxury sedan" that's for real. That's all tht matters to the dope head fu##s!! Thx for your reactions! I wish you would do more King ISO... I know he's a lot quicker in what he says sometimes but he talks more about talking with people like you more often.
Fun stuff.
Now you should do If I Had by eminem
Great song
Colicchie Just released his youtube video "mental health" I would love to see a reaction video to this or really any of Colicchies' songs. Just an idea love all that you do!
The slim shady LP and curtain call were top tier
Curtain call isn't an album it's a compilation of his greatest MTV hits
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on Aesop rock's song "shrunk" it's about his experience with therapy. Amazing lyricist that I think you would like.
Fun fact: this song was actually written before Dre found him and he was literally at the lowest point of his life. He said hr had absolutely nothing when this was made and it was supposed to go on another project then I believe Dre found him literally weeks or months after and decided to put it on thr SSLP. This song is a raw and honest and an artist can get
Great choice!!
I cannot believe you have not done Eminem - Kim yet. Easily his deepest and most tormented song.
Absolutely love this video though! Thanks!
That album was released 1999
The thing with Em growing up when he did. By the time he was old enough to be working the Auto industry was well and truly out of Detroit, leaving a ton of people poor and in poverty. Making life even harder than it already would have been for him. Detroit as a whole was on the decline and he wasn't born into a great life anyways..leaving him feeling like this a lot I'm sure.
Never thought about the broke line the way you did. Was it money, or was it his emotional state?
Beautiful pain
This is gonna be good 😃
This was his first album and it didn’t make it big but I got into doctor Dre’s ear so this was when he was trying to make it in the game now he is the greatest of all time
I love your videos! You should react to “friends” by J. Cole, he talks about addiction in it.
You must make video about " my darling" song
“Rock bottom” was recorded for his first major album in 1997/1998.
Eminem probably was going thru heavy drug and mental problems from early childhood until around 2010. His music was at his best when he was doing very bad. That’s the reason why I ain’t mad at him because his lastest music doesn’t sound that good to me or the cancel Europa tour in the early 2000s. I rather listen to his older music and know he’s doing great agin. Me and my brother had tickets for that tour for a concert and were looking forward to see Eminem, D12, 50, G Unit, Mobb Deep, M.O.P. But it’s ok because he got the help he needed.
He got sober in 2008
Great song great video you have to check out Eminem bad husband. And 97 Bonnie and Clyde
Eminem - Beautiful
Love your videos! Could you please react to ‘Eminem - Talking to myself’ ? 🙏🏻
Please react to Sara - Fleetwood Mac. Maybe in a sort of songs of the past type of section.
Eminem's best album
There was a really early version of this song where I think he said he was gonna kill himself after he finished recording or where I think he failed to overdose after he was done recording, and you can really hear just how tired he was while he raps in that version
Circa 1999 on his break through album slim shady ep. Classic Em
Infinite 1997
And the ep was 1997
Right, there's always a way to help you, if you can afford it...
Eminem still live in the Detroit
Please do "Kim" by Eminem as well, if you haven't already
Could you check out a song by dmx called the convo. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!
I'd love to see your reaction to Estes Tonnes song of the golden dragon and also estas tonne and peia Luzzi birds teardrops
Hell yeah
Even though Em 100% forgot where he came from, This era of Shady still hold weight
Yeah it's like he doesn't even remember how bad his life was when he was broke
React to Samson FTC!!!
Can you react to "Sing For The Moment" by Eminem next?
This came out 24 yr ago Tom
Can you react to “sonny” by the rubberbandits? Would love to hear your reaction.
you should do a reaction to the album The Wall from pink Floyd (have lyrics in front of you)
