I never leave the sling in but for individuals who are not able to place it back in correctly under their patient there will be NO STATE fines.... plz be careful I do not want any sweet angels slipping out of their wheel chair.

Nah - Sorry but you're very wrong. I work in home care and for many home care organisations it's only one support worker for higher care clients. I have to operate a lift on my own.

If you'd received any kind of formal training or even if you just read the instruction manual, it clearly says it is for two people. If you want to risk negligence and losing your certificate as a nursing assistant, by all means continue to go by your current mindset, however, feel sorry for the residents you take care of.
Bed rails should be up when turning patient. Bed rails should be up when WALKING away from the bedside. Bed should be raised to appropriate working height to reduce you having to stoop. You should ALWAYS explain to your patient step by step what you're about to do. Pretty sure there's more I can point out, gotta run to work..
Every patient is different and these rules don’t always apply. Knowing your patient will help in the decision making process concerning patient safety.

The legs on the hoyer lift need to be opened, when moving the patient to the chair, to keep it from tipping over.

@@Derek2010mar Careful about the locking of the brakes. Instruction manuals state specifically that you should not lock the brakes during lifting.
