I got an sx530 hs on the way. I want to use it for nature photos (mushrooms and such). 1. Does the app allow me to set up the camera on a tripod, and adjust the shot and take the shot, via the tablet/phone? 2. Does the Android device need to be on an active wifi data plan (AT&T, Verizon, etc), or does it connect with the installed hardware as a tether? The reason is that I might be in areas with no cell service? Due to my eye sight, and less handling of the camera for close shots would be ideal.
Yes, the app does allow you to adjust the shot as well as take the picture via your phone or tablet. Also, you do not need an active wifi data plan. The phone and camera can talk directly to each other. 🙂 Hope this helps!

Pls help me to get Video mode. I have PowerShot SX530 HS. Wireless Connection app on my Android Phone - works OK. But I can't start\select Video mode via Wireless Connection. Only in Photo mode I can manage zoom and do snapshot via Wireless Connection.

App doesn't seem to be working anymore. Or camera software is not compatible anymore with nowadays technologies. I wish they released an update for the camera or update the app. Because neither wifi connection nor NFC works.

I have this camera and canon connect app in my Android phone. It work. But I would like to know can I have more capabilities in controlling camera from phone. Like aperture? I have zoom but not aperture where T6 has more controls. If I pay for app can I have controls like T6. It is not absolutely necessary just would be fun to have more controls when do self portrait.

@@zell863 if you connect your phone with the camera by WIFI. You have to go to the app and then it will pop up on the screen of the camera. That worked for me :)

Well one year latter with new version of canon connect it do not work. I have new phone but do not work with old phone to. Same like everyone else across all canon product. Phone recognize camera but camera do not phone.

Problem show up without app involving. I do not know if app is active right away when I try to connect. Did all that staff of deleting wi fi history at camera, reinstalling CC app and installing again. Only once in a few hours it managed to connect itself. How you can not figure out what was right before and is wrong now?

Obviously you guys fix whatsoever was problem and app is good again to go. Work like before with one touch. Press blue button at camera and activate app at phone and they connect instantly.

It keeps trying to find an iPhone. I have android. The camera won't connect.
