Just a suggestion: Put both slats in front of the silage bales to save reversing near the edge of the hole. Keep up the good work, you're a great girl.
If your water is metered, direct your roof rain water of your slats for a few rainy days straight in to your slats to help keep your water bill down. Your doing a brilliant job...
You are an inspiration to a lot of people, there's a lot of them who say i can't do this and I can't do that, you're showing them that young ladies are as good as anyone else in their profession, well done 😊😊❤
Have to say, you do an amazing job 😊 I know a lot about farming, having spent 16 years on farms. It's no easy job, although you make it look as though it is 😅 Very proud of you. Good to see your dad still keeps himself involved 😊
What a brave lass....I was very nervous for you as I watched you skillfully drive the tractor...to the very edge of that pit your a star... And have my 👏 🥲 🥰 admiration
Well done Karen it is great to see you working on different ways to equate your feed per Animal. There are a few different ways as my Dad used to do the old drive around corner to corner then cenctre to the square of the size then work out how many Head he could allow there. We were in all Lucerne Paddocks and clear of any nasty rushes they can be a real Pain once they get a Hold. We did have a neighbour that had them and he used to cut them back to goung level. Once when dying back and again when shooting and even a third time and eventualy they die back. Keep up the good work and never worry about Maths as you are not alone. Aussie Bob. Oh forgot i love how you have a special one and how the herd is so placid.
Hi Karen , i enjoy all your videos i try to do some farm improvements every year on my farm it’s not easy to do everything as you could spend a fortune if you wanted to but i replaced slats with manhole covers as i work on my own and it was the best thing i ever done and saves time as well, keep up all the great work.
Well done Karen. I can sense there will be plenty of grass in Kerry this year. Turn your rain gutters into the tank. Great video. Thanks for sharing with us.
Grand job Karen and those slat lifters worked a treat. The young stock looked well and nice to catch a glimpse of the furze in bloom, always a sign that spring is on its way.
@@karenmoynihanfarm The sun needs to show up for a week or so and that should bring it on a bit. We had snow here today so mother nature's saying not just yet🤨
One person who mentored me back in the day when I was wet behind the ears said " You either schemey or louster " In other words think about the easiest way to do a job before you start doing it. Wise words that served me well for nearly 40 years. You have already learned that !!. May I suggest you have some cross bars welded on the upright tubes of your slat lifter. That way the pick up holes will be higher and easier to guide the forks into. I would like to add my admiration for how you tackle the work you need to get done.
Next year you should try adding bacteria into the slurry, I added slurry care in November when the tank is low, its made a super job of the fields here! It takes time to work but a huge benefit for handy money
Great video ,the hooks are a mighty job and good timing getting the slurry out before all the rain , you would hardly notice the slurry out on the dribble bar done fields be interesting to see the grass on them in 3 weeks
Another great Video. Those fields will have greened right up by now i reckon. Grass is growing here in the NW of Eng, and we didnt spread anything except for peppering a tiny bit of fert where it needed it the most, and that was only bc we had a couple of small bags about anyway! Wishing you well
Dera Karen I do enjoy your videos. As I mentioned on another site, I spent much of my youth on a dairy farm and although farming methods were quite different (we didn't have the cows in a shed at all) but let them graze outside summer and winter. The winter months didn't give much grass growth so in the summer crops of legumes were grown as well as a type of thin cane (my ancient mind has forgotten the name of it) The legumes were harvested by slashing the paddock then hand raking the slashed crop into heaps and loading the heaps by hand onto a horse drawn sledge The cane was cut using sickles (I am talking about farming here 73 years ago) , taken to the barn on the sledge when a hand turned chaff cutter, It had a large flywheel on it and was difficult for a young high school lad to keep turning as it cut the cane in to small pieces. I wish I was a much younger man, i would have loved to have worked alongside you on the farm. The constant rain and freezing winters may have been a deterrent, for I live in a sub-tropical part of NSW Australia.
Hi Karen. Once again i have to compliment you for the way such a young Women goes about her work. Love that you use the three point linkage to its fullest as they can if used correctly almost be another vehicle with what you can have them fitted with. Great idea the hooks and saves time and your driving is very good. Stay safe. Aussie Bob.
Hi Karen, great stuff 👍 One little thing I did to help me putting things on back of tractor. I put 4 caster wheels on a few good blue pallet so I can leave spreader box on them and then I can move them into shed and no problem putting onto tractor. Roll on the summer 😎
Great to see father, daughter and old faithful working together fair play to you, the fella that does your fabrication work is a handy person to know. 👏👍🇮🇪
@Karen Moynihan You are constantly working with fertilizers, loose feed, manure. During work, especially on the street, all this flies at you, especially when the wind blows. You need to wear a headscarf, a head scarf or a bandana so that the garbage does not get into your hair. It is easier to wash a scarf than to wash your hair, from debris, fertilizers, manure and comb the straw out of your hair. Any headgear, during such work, protects the head from debris. We, women who work on farms, always wear a work uniform, which includes a scarf for the head. Since, loose or dangling hair, even braided or in a ponytail, like yours, during operation, can get into the rotating parts of the mechanisms. In this case, a scarf for the head is not only a means of hygiene, but also a means of protection from accidents.
I love to see how you recorded your father and he not even knowing, he was flat out cutting his timber. Great to get the slurry and fertiliser out. You'll see the benefits soon 🤞🏼
Good idea for lifting slats you mentioned about putting in a manhole. Worth loom at the new tams 3 and young farmers and lady farmers both get 60%grants
Karen what u need is a young meath man helping u out and just by chance i have 2 sons aged 23 and 25 but the only thing is they could never keep up with you Your a brilliant girl and your father must be super proud of you Keep up the great video's seamus from navan
Karen, have weldy guy make your dad a pair of wheel chocks that can hook on his vespa with long hooked handles that stick out the side and up. Its awesome that he's staying that active but dealing with roll shimmy is just extra daily pain.
your making me jellous with all the implaments on your 135 ! Ive just spread 5 bags on our field with a push along garden spreader. your dad does amazing to saw like that. think I would struggle sawing in that position
I tip my hat to your da doin what he can awesome ❤❤ We usually spread our manure in fall and let it set over winter then run the diamond or spring harrow over it in spring to break up lumps then roll the hay land and wait 😊😊 we had a fairly dry year last year and the part we spread out did really well 😊😊
It was good to see you working as a team, can't always be easy for both of you for different reasons, but what you're doing shows you have a strong moral compass and you're a credit to your family. You're getting a lot of written pats on the back here, so enough said.
Cracking job with the slats, like threading a needle at arms lenght
Well done Karen
Geoff
What a great woman, I'm sure your dad is very proud
