    Side note, licensed cosmetologist here.
    Ceramic flat irons seal the cuticle with much more care and less abrasions and tugging on the cuticle of your hair. Which is why; most times the temperature of ceramics does not go past 410 degrees.
    Titanium flat irons heat up more more quickly than ceramic and allow you to get through the hair quicker; there’s always the risk of burning a persons hair of the texture of your hair is not taken to account.
    Tourmaline is kind of the holy grail of flat irons because you can go up to a very high heat with it and it won’t burn or destroy the hair because tourmaline seals the cuticle tighter and with less resistance than ceramic.
    Case in point, the blow dry is always the foundation to a longer wear on the hair anytime a person wants to style their hair. Never use a flat iron to straighten hair, it’s there to polish and smooth.

      😮wow okays. I have SUPPPPER FINE HAIR. LONG BUT FINE 😅. I don't like straighteners but I would like one for the future wigs I make. And yes with ceramic in the past I would do abound 4 passes 😅so yeah now I would prefer one pass and good to go. Cause I still feel like that 4 passes are way to much for my hair. My daughter has thicker hair. And curly about type 3 hair curl pattern. She sometimes enjoys straight hair. With her hair it didn't even last a nap 😅 if I made her hair straight now after her nap she would be curly again. So I keep telling her I don't wann burn her hair for nothing ❤😅

    I have super fine and thin delicate hair and I bought a very expensive ceramic chi. After a year of using it, it had damaged my hair so badly it would not shine anymore. I decided to go with a titanium straightener and have had it for 4 years now. Not only was my hair able to heal from the chi, but it shines every time I straighten my hair with it. Even though I have super fine hair, I still had to go over my strands 2-3 times with the ceramic and I think that’s what fried my hair. With the titanium I set it at 320 degrees and I only have to go over it 1 time to achieve shiny straight hair. I think regardless of what texture your hair is the titanium is the way to go.

    Flat irons of the same quality have to be compared. High end to high end. The titanium flatiron was a Babyliss. Not many out perform that brand. I own two of them.
    However I do prefer the softness of the ceramic flatirons. They infuse moisture into the hair. And I can feel a big difference. And the high end titaniums get much hotter much quicker. So be careful not to use them on a daily basis.
    They are good for the initial flat iron. For touch ups over the next couple of weeks use the ceramic.
    All advice is for natural hair.

      I actually used to use the Babyliss in my cosmetology class every day and I think my hair was much softer and better than with my reg flat iron especially while using products such as heat protectant. Even for curling too.

      Great advice. I have super natural curly hair and I straighten my hair on daily basis. I e always used Chi irons, but the last time I purchased one I got a Infrashine iron. It's worked well but that was 3 yrs ago & I now have to get a new flat iron. I'm trying to research to see what I should try next. I only wash my hair once a week, & it takes forever for me to straighten my hair after drying the 1st initial time after washing & drying , but the other days I just run my flatiron through it. With all that being said, what would you recommend? Even if I were to have to use 2 different ones

  • @taylors5981
    @taylors5981 4 роки тому +28

    I was considering getting a titanium iron, but seeing as I flat iron my hair almost daily, I better stick with my ceramic iron. I just need a new one since my current one by Paul Mitchell is super old and doesn't work as well anymore. I'm 19 and have had the same iron since I was in 6th grade. I would say that titanium is great for people who don't straighten their hair often, but when they do are looking for super straight hair. Just don't forget to use a heat protectant

  • @MakeWay4CJ
    @MakeWay4CJ 4 роки тому +117

    I don't know if you know this but that "ceramic" iron you're holding is coated with ceramic but is not solid ceramic and there's a difference. Without it being solid ceramic, the heat won't distribute well which means that every time you make a pass on your hair some spots will be hotter than the other. This is is what leads to heat damage. The Babyliss one MAY be titanium (it depends on if it's a knock off or not) but it gets hotter than a solid or a coated ceramic iron and shouldn't be used unless you're a professional or you make it a rule not to do more than 2 passes on any part of your hair. Just sayin'...if we want to level up or remain level up then we need to keep this in mind.

    Definitely have to be careful with heat with the titanium iron. Most of my hair is normal to coarse (strands) but I do have some finer patches at the nape of my neck and by my temples. I ended up with a little heat damage in both of those spots. Luckily it was disguisable because it was small patches and it was minimal. I just ended up cutting it off because it bothered me.

    Ironically, lots of very experienced hairdressers say that ceramic doesn’t protect delicate fine hair better because the temperature is often too low and the plates don’t give a one glide pass over the hair because it’s the repeated passes and straightening top ups because the first time it was straightened it wasn’t successful. They state that with the correct usage and products to protect the hair, ceramic can work better and leave less long term damage and frizz which includes not straightening again until the next wash or not before 3 days have passed.

    I’m definitely switching to the titanium flat iron for my wigs! I’ve been wondering what I can do to lessen the frizz on my straight wigs! Titanium, it is!

    I had that exact babyliss iron for 10 years and the only reason it wasn't longer was because the plug I plugged it into was wack and surged and my iron literally exploded and was just broken. I loved that iron so much, I had it given to me at 10 and had it until I was 20 and that was considering I didn't take good care of it lol

    Ceramic just doesn't get my hair straight. I have tried many lower-end models and my hair will always look like a blowout when done and after 20 minutes will look like an old, puffy blowout. I even tried what I thought to be titanium irons and they were giving me the same results. Come to find out, they were titanium coated but the main base of the plates was ceramic. If you're going lower end to save money you have to be very careful. I just purchased a Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium from Ulta yesterday. Here's to hoping I can finally get a flat-ironed look that won't end up in a ponytail shortly after completing my hair. I have medium-thick hair, ceramic is not my friend.

    Straighten it right to begin with. Your not doing it properly. Use a brush while straightening. Your not going to get the results you want in this way
