Thanks so much, I have an Iphone X and with an Wi Fi adapter I been using a samsung tablet. For almost a year a been trying to get android auto to download with no success... Until after I watched this video and it work flawlessly. I like the android auto better than carplay. I will make a video later showing my setup 🙏🏾 Thanks again, you save hundreds by the way, was going to buy the latest samsung tablet to see if it work or just an Ipad but you solved my issue💯
Andrew McKinnis The issue was that when I was not in the navigation app the guidance disappeared from the screen and I didn’t like that... I posted a video with my setup, take a look at it. But I like it better now and I think Android auto is better than Carplay..

I was wondering the same thing. Like if you can install AA on a tablet and mount it in your car like a normal dash media/nevigation center, then plug your phone in (wire or bluetooth) to "power" the features.
Hi in the video where it says Allow android auto to show your notifications on top of other apps. Turn these on in the next screen, when I click on continue, I don't get the same screen as your self, I get the settings page up on my Samsung tablet and am unable to continue on with the setup. Any ideas as to why the settings page is coming up when I click on continue?

I was SO hoping this would work. The glaring problem with this solution is that the tablet cannot be charged while connected to the carplay dongle. I'd like to be proven wrong though! If anyone knows of ANY tablet that supports charging while connected to a dongle (via a Y adapter for example), please share if you have direct experience.

Alpi Reyes is you get the usb CarPlay dongle u can use your phone on the tablet as CarPlay :)

Buna. Folosesc un Asus Zenpad Z380 de 8 inch. Are GPS 4G si procesor foarte puternic. Recomand!

I know that one can get a dongle to get CarPlay on Android Auto head units. Not sure if it would work with this setup.
