I just saw this figure in person at Walmart. My first reaction was it looks amazing! Then I saw the price tag and thought women buy whistles for what Hasbro is doing with prices.
I was happy that they gave you the ability to remove his armor. However, his forearms armor cant be removed and the white hoses are glued to his elbow Hasbro should have included removable un armored for arms .Cheaped out on us again Hasbro.
So much to like...and some other curious decisions, corners cut. I wonder about replacing the plastic scarf with some fabric - range of motion would be dramatically improved.
Personally I always liked the deluxe boxes. They looked smart neat and tidy with some great toy photography. Oh well. Also non-painted weapons seems to be a recurring theme...
Excellent review, Tim. I'm looking forward to getting this figure, he looks great. I'm not a fan of the new card size, and I am probably in the minority in preferring the box for deluxe figures. I do like the card image, though.
Hi buddy, yeah the boxes weren’t too bad ‘if’ the figure was also on a card like Luke and Ahsoka etc. it’s when there aren’t is the problem (Krrsantan and Jango)
They'll probably overproduce him. Justnspit-balling here, but I'd guess you'll be able to get him for somewhere near 40% off by January...clearance chicken can be a dangerous game though
@@shmeckleson wild either way imo lol. I love Timothy Olyphant & he plays these kinds of characters so well. I hope we see him again, Idk though cause isn't BOBF done?
Awesome review. Great job breaking down this figure. I love the new deluxe carded figures, great way to display figures with window. Thanks, Hasbro! 3.75" 4life!!
I just got this guy at WM today. I tried putting the removable Boba Fett helmet from the deluxe Fett (Daimyo) on him and it fits fine, slightly loose, but the proportions are better than this non removable helmet. It’s not as weathered or damaged but it looks pretty good and could be easily customized to your liking. But then again you are mixing parts from 2 deluxe figs, so the cost is high. I got 2 of the Fett’s and one s sitting, helmetless, on his throne so swapping the CV helmet for the BF helmet works pretty good.
So stoked to have Cobb in the line as my main March Madness pick. However, I'm disappointed at the approach Hasbro took. Really wish we didnt get the removable armor as it took short cuts from the start and doesnt act as a "play-feature" really. Would've rather had 2 fully separate figures than 1 and a frankstein figure approach. Plus the removable armor makes him look bulky when Cobb has more of a sleak silhouette. Still getting him for the collection, but just shaking my head doing so 🤦
Great, comprehensive review. I seem to be well in the minority here but I prefer the deluxe figures in a box, as opposed to being on the oversized cardback. The box seems more like what Kenner would have done back in the day. Plus, I find the oversized cardback a bit unsightly.
I really liked the aesthetic of the boxes, but being able to see the figure to check paint apps is useful (although makes no difference if you buy online).
Great review as always! Pretty nice figure. Can’t wait for mine. I just hope with these new deluxe packaging they don’t put hammerhead on one. He would look out of place with other 96.
I really REALLY need them to do his pod speeder… preferably in black series (which is my main focus) but I’ll take it in TVC if that’s the only way I can get it.
Great video. Glad to see the bubble instead of the box. When you put them side by side with the other figures I thought he scaled really good. However seeing Bossk there makes me rethink just re-releasing him in TVC. Bossk should be a little taller.
Taking a craft knife to the inside of the neck (where the neck barbell is) and shaving just a small amount of plastic out will probably double head & neck articulation.
Is rather have less accessories or a stacked bubble on a std sized card. I’ll continue to buy one just to open, so it’s the same for me versus the deluxe closed box. Nice figure 👍🏽
Interestingly, celebheights lists Timothy Olyphant at 5ft 11 which is near Jeremy Bulloch at his peak and a inch or so taller than Pedro. Anyway, re the Jetpack question, didn't you notice the sculpting behind the average paint job? It's a sly reuse of the BOBF Boba Jetpack but with a different rocket. Believe me I've scrutinised this Jetpack heaps and repainted it multiple times! One question though, on the BOBF topic, I wonder if Hasbro will re-release the BOBF Boba Fett Tatooine figure in this blister format? Keep up the excellent work, always look forward to your videos. G'day from Australia
So torn on this one. Been waiting so long for a Cobb Vanth and we finally have one, but it’s got a deluxe premium attached to it yet a number of iffy qualities..
Great figure overall potentially my favorite of the year, really nailed the likeness imo. But yeah the removable armor pieces are essentially 100% useless if they ALL can't come off.. Especially with those wires hanging off. On top of that, I bought him today from Wal-Mart & his left leg is defective, the knee joint came already broken & I can actually see the joint if the knee armor is off, Idk if that was intended..?
I love this figure, just picked him up from Wal-Mart despite having the same feeling as you lol. I sometimes feel like getting figures in "limited" outfits or whatever is a waste but I've wanted Cobb Vanth for how many years? 😂
It's interesting going from a box where you cannot see the figure or accessories, to a card where they seem to showcase all the accessories with the extra wide bubble. I personally don't need to see all the accessories in order to know that it comes with them. I don't see any logical reason this can't be on a standard 6x9 card. I can't speak for everybody around the U.S., but there are no TVC hanging from the pegs where I live, and I order everything online. So showcasing the accessories just doesn't seem to make any sense to me because they're not at retail anyways. Anyways, pre ordered 3 can't wait for them to get here.
Kind of mixed bag. Didn’t like the end part about the flame effects not really working that well. Already felt like this is partially a stretch for deluxe…if those don’t really work it’s feeling even less “deluxe”
Why would the rangefinder not have articulation? The major scene in S2 of the Mandalorian he shoots the missile at the Krayt dragon... even shows a First-Person view of the rangefinder.. The figure even has a removable missile.... this is a head swappable figure? Why was this skipped on a deluxe figure? Awesome review BB!
There far superior to the ones in the Black Series. I loved the actual sculpted in strip on the rocket pack. Oh and Cob didn’t steal it he purchased it from Jawas - who may have been the ones who mugged Boba.
I have a serious question for collectors about what figures are best. I've collected both the 3.75" lines and the 6" Black Series figures. The issues now are cost and space. My question is which have better overall quality? Which display better? I have mainly focused on the 6" line for the last couple of years. But I have a lot of the old Black Series 3.75", the 2-pack Comic Packs, the Legacy sets, and other classic 3.75" figure sets. Many were exclusives. The Target Jedi and Clone packs in the circular containers. I'm not sure if I want to drop the 6" figures and go for the smaller scale. Which have more display sets. Which is probably the best since the 6" displays would probably run $800.⁰⁰ to $1,000.⁰⁰ ➕. Space is also a added issue. I just don't know how good the Vintage Lines are now? Any information would be helpful.
When TVC has an all new figure (check Kanan, Zeb, Dooku, Leia etc) then there is very little difference in my opinion except for the size. Black Series will obviously cost more and take up more space, but it also depends of you like vehicles, creatures, world building items. If you do, then the 3.75” is for you. I personally feel TBS lacks something, maybe a bit of soul. I have no desire to have a shelf full of figures just standing there. I like to create scenes.
Hi Bossk I didn't have the chance to watch last figure standing last night but I've made my list and entered it and I'll be catching up with the stream later My question is what figures do you think will do well but will probably be coming anyway much like baylin and Shin from march madness Cheers 💥👊💥
It's funny because Mark Hamill is 5' 9" Im 6' 2" And the Luke figures generally run a little too short to be a stormtrooper. I find naturally, Vader towers over most other figures
Why on Earth didn’t they just have that pipe as part of the armour and be able to detach from the gauntlet. Given how they’ve managed to make gauntlets that you can plug things into like Jango’s flame thrower and the whistling birds from the rescue Mando this is seems like such a strange decision to make
Big thanks for the review. I saw it in the store today. $24.99 at Walmart. Good grief. Easy pass. I already have him in the 6" scale, which is enough for me.
Boba's helmet in this figure is back to being too narrow again. Why they keep creating new molds for a helmet is super weird. Perfected for VC186 all the way up to the deluxe BOBF Boba in the box. Now back to this weird 2010 skinny helmet. Hopefully thats just for Cobb Vanth and they don't use the same helmet for the Boba Fett Tython version that should be coming with this removable armor.
The lack of paint, which is on the jetpack in the series. is yet another deluxe screw up. Deluxe price... but not a deluxe figure, they really need to do more, or add more to it.
Great figure. Awful oversight with the white pipes. Gauntlets looks oversized without the armour. For a deluxe figure could have been better with and without the armour
Does the bubble need to be that big with the larger card back. The jet back could be on the the figure in the bubble and the rest of the bits and pieces what for in a normal bubble. Or as an alternative, Would a deeper bubble be the answer on a normal card back. Stop staying bubble Lyn

It's a joke that they waited so long to release him in TVC that you can get him in the bigger scale for half the price now.
