Vince said it himself, he wished he put in the work and professionalism earlier in his career. The fact he lasted so long despite starting later on the hard training tells you how much potential wasn’t realized.

What you mean his potential wasn't realized? How can he have not recognized his potential and at the same time made it to the highest level of basketball? His talent propelled him to the highest level just like that left foot when it's sticking to the court and he did those amazing dunks That was his life with his talent it propelled him. He knew his talent he knew his potential he already made it he didn't have that killer mentality see us as fans we sit back and we think these guys is going so hard and they really don't. they have natural ability. that's what the recruiters look for they don't look for the the dogs who really dogs. The dogs who got the talent those are the Hall of famers but they overpass all the dogs because they got a 30-in vertical. they jump shot a little messed up. they a little outta shape. They pulled up when they should've drove through. The pros is a fraternity.

@@slightlyworking4because "potential" is the best that HE could have done.
Many people made it to the top level of basketball.
Some people achieve things by being THEIR best.
Others don't even have to be THEIR best to achieve the same things or even more because they are naturally gift.
If they add hard work to that talent???...bro thats a whole different level of monster we are talking about.

@amostlyreasonableguy nope, it's cool that Tmac got more rebounds but that doesn't necessarily qualify you as a better shooter guard. In that case Iverson drops all the way down. But in 2001, the guards were between Iverson, Kobe, and Vince. Tmac was the most improved player. It wasn't until 2002, 03, and 04 where it was basically Tmac or Kobe.

He then went to Orlando to be that last piece to a championship team as they had just gone to the Finals in 09, and literally was a shell of his former self. After Orlando, he went all downhill in production. From Dallas to Memphis, Sacramento, and then Atlanta is when he never had anything to contribute except being a veteran voice in the locker room. Penny aint got no rings cuz of Shaq. Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Kobe off the bench & Shaq. All 4 were All Stars that season. No ring. Shipped Nick & Eddie out. Enter The Black Mamba full time. 3peat. Later on, no Shaq, back 2 back. Kobe was the 2nd best SG ever. Vince is arguably 6th-8th. Iverson is #3, Wade #4, TMac #5. But could be #4. Vince is #6 but Drexler could be #6, Klay could be #6. Then there's Pierce, Mitch Richmond, R. Allen, B. Roy in no particular order. But post MJ, Kob is clearly, that guy. Nobody is gonna swap Kob for Vince just to claim that he would have rings with Shaq as if Kobe could be replaced with the #6-#8 guy at their position when Kobe was actually more valuable than Shaq. Shaq didn't win shit until Kobe emerged. Shaq would've been the goat if he wasn't lazy. & Vince, Tracy, AI & Penny who was a PG were all more naturally talented than Kobe. But Kobe work ethic along with his maniacal will as a competitor made him the most complete & even more skilled than even MJ & with deeper range with his jumper & had better handles which was a weakness in Vince game. But MJ & Vince athleticism was stupid!!! & MJ was just 1 of 1& the goat. But MJ & Kobe the most cold blooded killers out of everybody. Larry Joe Bird would break your heart too!!! But I must say that the SG in MJ era were weak & usually spot up shooters & the 4th-5th option on the team. Craig Ehlo, Jeff Hornacek, Danny Ainge, Hersey Hawkins, Nate McMillan, Bobby Phills, Kendall Gill, Blue Edwards etc. Come on man. It probably still wouldn't have made a difference because MJ was that cold. & he reinvented the SG position. Kobe's era had the coldest collection of SG's ever!!! They ended up being the go-to-guys who took the most shots & could handle the ball & create their own shots & were the best athletes on the team. MJ started that shit. A SG who would be the 4th-5th option isn't good enough for the NBA now days. They are required to have a totally different set of skills now. Just imagine Hornecek trying to guard MJ. Now imagine Kobe having to stay in front of Iverson, being guarded by 6'9 TMac who could score from anywhere on the court & jumping higher than Kobe. Then there's Vince he has to face the next night who was strong as a bull with unlimited hops!!! & could shoot like a MF. JR Rider, Latrell, Allan Houston, Eddie Jones, Kerry Kittles, Derek Anderson, Doug Christie, Cuttino Mobley, Iggy, Stackhouse & some guy named LEBRON JAMES. A SF/PG/SG the size of a PF who is top 3-5 with goat numbers who has been the best player for the longest amount of time & counting. Kobe had to face these guys every night for 20 years. & he's the 1 MJ loved like a lil brother & who he would choose to go thru a door with hands down over all of these other cats. & cried like a baby at Kobe & Gigi's memorial service. I said all of this to say. DON'T COME FOR KOBE AGAIN!!! NOT WITH VINCE CARTER OR ANYBODY ELSE!!! I love Vince, but Vince cant fuck with Kob!!! @@HasanMustafaa-en1tj Jordan literally won as a team player.
And Gil is a moron. What was his mentality? Getting in mexican standoffs in his locker room and telling cops he cant be arrested cause hes a ball player lmfao.
Dude actually got mentally broken by lebron of all guys. Choked them free throws and was never the same. Great mentality.
