It is basically Chris McSorley (Canadian from Hamilton, if you like it or not :-) ) who was made redundant in Geneva few years ago. Now he's the coach and wannabe king in Sierre in the 2nd league. But yeah, in Switzerland every team in the National League only can bring 6 imports into a game and they are paid better than most of the team, some around 500k/season with a very low income tax. So there are a few teams who don't treat imports well and just expect points. But there are other clubs such as Langnau, Ajoie etc. who treat them like kings. Langnau e.g. even built an extra Sauna just for the Finnish import players ON the roof of their stadium. Other thing is, the field is of wider international size. So generally the game is a bit faster and less physical. North Americans tend to call the game soft over here and it pretty much is compared to the NHL/AHL.
oh shit. can't he accept that he wasn't good enough? of course you have discussions with the organisation when their own young players show more on the field than you. but blaming the coach for your failure. swiss cup is crap? dude, every sport has a national cup except in the USA of course. what would the Bundesliga be without the DFB cup or the Premier League without the FA cup....
You get to live in one of the safest an most beautiful places in the world. Nice arenas. Short travel distances. Play infront of the 2nd highest av. attendance after the nhl. Make more money then some players in the nhl. Then how about show some respect and get some information about the league and the team you sign for. Yes McSorley is an unconventional coach. You either like or hate it. If you hate it, you don’t sign to play on his team. But his coaching style shouldn‘t surprise you. And he still doesn‘t get the import thing? Thats like playing in the nhl and have no clue what a salary cap or a trade is! A swiss team could only line up 4 imports per game. They are usually among the highest payed players on the team. But they are also expected to be among the top players. On the second season he had 0.36 points per game. If in the nhl, your top line forward who is one of the highest payed players, scores only 0.36 ppg, everyone would call for a trade. In the swiss league you will just get benched. Geneva had more then 4 imports that year and all of them outplayed gerbe, so he was just the odd man out. And no, if you are the best player in the league and have an off week you certainly wont be benched lol. He just sounds like a bitter guy who is trying to make excuses why he failed…
the little boy was brought in to score points. but he didn't make it. the swiss league is not as bad as most north americans think. he (Gerbe) just isn't good enough to be a big player in this league. Yes, McSorley is a weird guy. And his destructive style of play is no fun. but he is certainly not Swiss.
It seems like the coach doesn't know hockey. Lol. Coach told him to bank the puck off the back boards on a 2 on 1. Crazy lol. And. No tape to tape passes in the d zone. Lol. It's seriously a circus there. Not to mention shoot from center ice on net then get the puck. I don't know. Weird. Lol

@@deusvult6920 lol more like kids start hitting at 11 in Canadian minor hockey. I broke my leg and was back playing by the age of 14
Chris McSorley once bit off a dude's nose.
wow haven’t heard from this guy in a while
Is this the entire European league or just the Swiss?
Nathan Why no score ?
Haha bank it behind the net on a 2 on 1 lol
He's not Canadian...
Sounds like the NAHL
You have no idea, just wrong team an coach!!!!
Miss Gerbe in Cbus!
Let him talk man..
So.. there's a weird Canadian GM/coach/owner .. and it's the SWISS league.
Signed without knowing the local customs and then blame the locals.
Wellwell, probably you were just not good enough😉
lol that guy is awesome. great story
One of the worst players ever seen in Geneva. Playing alone and was the king of soothing on the plexiglass. Easy to criticise after
Worst nhl import in 10years sooo slow with the skates .buddy we pay for you sooo better you score .
the little boy was brought in to score points. but he didn't make it. the swiss league is not as bad as most north americans think. he (Gerbe) just isn't good enough to be a big player in this league.
Weird. Lol
Gerbe sounded like an entitled know-it-all to me.
"He's not good enough to be a big player in this league" You do realize he went back to the NHL/AHL after Switzerland right?
@@hunterryan1423 so you're saying that every player in the AHL is better than every other player outside of the NHL and AHL?
@@smithryansmith yes and after two years you should know how the league works and should know who is an import player and who isn't.
I knew all this, how can an import player not know how the league's run?
See he’s a pro athlete with a full time job, your not….
I really like gerbe but he makes the swiss hockey look really bad
Yeah. Thats the whole video
This so called Bad League brought up Players like Streit, Josi, Gerber, Aebischer, Hiller, Niederreiter, Suter, Fiala and so all of them having a preety Good Record.
Even Jumbo Joe und Rick Nash are linked to Davos, Jumbo Joe used to take Practice with Davos. Allthought Matthews had his first Seasons over here.
The League is in Fact preety Good for such a small Country.
I love the NHL i try to watch every Pens game from here in Switzerland, i also saw a couple of NHL Games.
The NHL is better that‘s for sure, but the Fans and the Atmosphere in the Swiss Stadium is much more better.
Is that Marty’s brother🥴
Yes, he's.
He looks just like him, so yes probably.
just McSorley sucks… Swiss league is great and teams like ZSC Lions from Zurich are definitely very professional
Sucks to be a UVM recruit right now
What does any of this have to do with UVM?
Best time ever

Yeah Timmy Conboy was my teammate
🇩🇪
The old NHC huh. I miss playing there.
canadian coach though..
Well it’s there league I don’t care if they cut the imports if they aren’t dominating. They can find locals who can be average. That’s the whole reason they’re bringing ya in
Gerbe is a stud
TIL I could coach in Switzerland.
Ahhh, Chris McSorley, of course! Should have guessed.
I remember Tappara from Liiga crushing McSorley's team Geneve-Servette in the CHL (Champions Hockey League) and McSorley crying about referees, bad bounces and whatnot in post-game interview, even though McSorley's team did NOTHING but dump the puck after red line and never regain control of the puck. For 60 minutes straight. I couldn't believe my eyes during the game (nor my ears thereafter).
It was absolutely ridiculous, like an uncoached beer league team playing against a professional hockey team - which, to be honest, it kinda was. Though Geneve-Servetty definetely had the stronger roster of players...
The swiss league is very good, coming from a very unbiased swiss guy, but McSorley was an ass, nobody liked him
Check out what sports cards I’m submitting in March 2022
While i agree with Mcsorley being a complete tool, i find it kinda funny that the guy that’s saying all this is an NHL reject that needed to go to Europe because he wasn’t good enough. If you’re getting paid to do a job, don’t act like a diva and say you’re in a bad mood just because you couldn’t visit the alps one day because your team called you in. Dude’s acting like he’s crosby or mcdavid.
Lmfao what a whiner
🤣🤣🤣
European Hockey in general is way too influenced from a football (Soccer) mentality from the very beginnings of the sports evolution.
Wayyy too soft in European Hockey.
*the Russians and the Fins and Latvians play tough though
I don't respect anything out of a man's mouth that is 5'6. Sorry.
Ok smooth brain.
blames the coach, the system, the league, the refs, hmmmm I'm sorry, I like him but in the end he just wasnt as good as other imports in the league.
Gerber is a clown . "You're ruining my career" .. youre in Switzerland pal .. your career was done the minute you went on that plane over lol . Hes so scary . The whole 5"7
Joe Thornton has had a pretty good career after his time in Switzerland. Matthews is also doing pretty well.
Thornton only played during the lockouts and matthews before he even played NHL
Again the clowns that know nothing says shit like this lol
