why are people so against ordering food its like a (at least where I live) cultural bias against ordering food its like if you don't cook food and boil you thumb which actually happened to me (btw don't stirr spaghetti with a short spoon the water will come up and it is very painful) then you are automatically lazy even if you have shit to do and don't have time to be cooking all the time and tending to burns and stuff not evey one has time to go get a bandage because they are bad at making spaghetti

@@theperfectbotsteve4916 Sorry but, if your bad at making spaghetti, that's straight up bad at cooking in general. Like anything. You can't pretend your good at cooking decent meals when you can't do something that's so simple and basic lol. My ex was a prime example. I've seen someone bad at cooking pasta. Even with the dish is not pasta its still not up to standards. It may taste fine to you, Only because at that point your used to it. Try cooking for friends or family sometime and ask them their honest opinions. Because opinions help you become a better cook!... Well... Possibly.. I would say it depends on the person.

I can confirm that meals cost about 2-5 per meal if you cook at home regularly. The most expensive meals I make might be 10-15 but that's enough to serve like 6 people.
If the price of raw ingredients is high how do you think you're not spending more to have it cooked and prepared for you?
You can get plenty of ingredients in bulk as a single guy, use your freezer...
Cheese lasts forever in the fridge, so do eggs, so do the shells...meat you freeze it and put it in the fridge a couple nights before you'll cook it.
A large bag of rice can be a part of hundreds of meals and costs $15

The thing about Mexican Coca-Cola is that the Mexican cola sold in the US is now actually different than the Coca-Cola made in Mexico for the Mexican market. You see, the Coca-Cola Company originally imported the Mexican-produced sugar cane version into the US primarily to sell it to Mexican immigrants who grew up with that formula. It was first sold in Latino markets and bodegas, but it's popularity grew among non-Latinos once they've learned about its existence. In 2013, a Mexican Coca-Cola bottler announced it would stop using cane sugar in favor of glucose-fructose syrup. So Coca-Cola made for Mexicans is just like the American version, but "Mexican Coke" sold in the US is still made with sugar cane as a "Coca-Cola Nostalgia" product.

How did the milkshake lady get on a knee, slurps it with a half-closed mouth, and it all works? *ARE THEY EVEN HUMAN?!*

Time is a big factor, but if you prep you can cook a few times a week. If you spend 8 extra hours cooking and cleaning a week, but save $350 you paid yourself $43.75 an hour to cook for yourself.

By the time you got to the spoiled beef I was head in hands horrified.
A good compromise if it's available in your area is to just order your groceries for delivery. Then you can shop at night and place the order for whichever day you choose. Plus it's easier to compare prices online than it is in-store.
I too hate to eat but need to gain weight, so I tend to buy a lot of canned beans, canned meat like chicken or tuna, smoked salmon, deli meats, and smoked or precooked sausages for protein, and usually just resort to frozen veggies or more shelf-stable ones like squash, brussels sprouts, tomaters, ptaters etc. Hard block cheeses you have to cut or shred yourself last longer, they taste way better, plus you can just bite into a block of cheese whenever you want to feel like a poor peasant child.
Most of the time im eating snacks or pre-prepared foods with Ensures, but when I do cook it's usually chilis and curries, cause it's tasty and you only need one pot and meat is an accessory, not a necessity. I end up cooking raw meat once every few months now.

Clearly, I need to be your cyber Mom. Why don't you drink a weightlifter shake every morning and as a snack at night. Put the powder in the blender and add some peanut butter and half an avocado (you won't taste it) and a banana, then blend with some ice and milk or ice cream. And force yourself to eat a meal in between (or two, if you can). You'll gain weight and also get a crap ton of vitamins that way. As for cooking... don't keep meat in the fridge for more than 3 days - throw it away after that. Never defrost meat and refreeze it - once defrosted, you have to eat it within 3 days. Also, cook everything thoroughly. Smell milk before you drink it if it's more than 5 days old -- it lasts longer, usually, but you want to be sure as you don't know how long it sat in the store. Eggs should last about a month. You can buy a cooking thermometer that you stick into meat and it reads the temp inside. You can Google what temp it should be to eat safely (I think chicken is like 165 degrees, 145 for pork and beef). Cheese IF REFRIGERATED is safe for 1 - 4 weeks... the harder the cheese (like parmesan) the longer it lasts (4 weeks), and the softer (like mozzarella) the shorter (1 week). Google what temp your fridge and freezer should be and set the thermostat accordingly. You can lower it a little in winter and raise it in the summer. I hope this helps :)

I've tried to be better about it by making something for myself whenever I feed my daughter but I call it a win if I eat one solid meal a day.

When you cook you need to label your leftovers and toss them after 4 days or if there is a bad smell.
If you cook try to cook small portions do you won't have leftovers or will have only one meal worth of leftovers. When you have leftovers it's best to have a rule that you are going to eat that food tomorrow.
Another thing is if you hate eating and hate cooking...don't make it complicated! You can have yogurt for lunch, no cooking required just buy it at a grocery store. You can have cereal and milk for breakfast, or toast and PB, or a simple sandwich. You can use your oven to make really easy dinners, just buy meat cover with spices and throw that into an oven (look up for how long online and temps). They sell bags of frozen vegetables already pre seasoned and pre oiled to be baked as well. They even sell pre mixed dinner bags of frozen pasta, vegetables, and chicken where the only thing you do is open the bag and pour some out into a pan to cook it.
You don't need to be a chef or cook everything from scratch to eat at home. You can rely on food that's mostly already ready to eat or ready to cook with minimal prep.

keep a sharpie in the kitchen for labeling cans and such, and some other kinda label system (maybe dry erase marker?) for cooked food so u don't ruin the containers.

Keep in mind being skinny doesn't mean you're healthy, and you can have fatty liver/type 2 diabetes when you're skinny. Not trying to scare you but I used to be you, and I'm feeling so much better with just some minor lifestyle changes that are ADHD friendly. Take care!

You like veggies, throw some broccoli on those cheesy bacon potatoes too! I like eating but absolutely hate the prep, cleanup and planning/time allotment of cooking meals too. I usually eat 1 big meal a day- one small breakfast just so something is in my stomach with coffee so I dont give myself diarrhea from straight espresso on an empty stomach and an early dinner where I cram as many calories and try to hit as many food groups as possible. I eat mcdonalds breakfast a few times a week and am losing noticable weight. People ask my secrets and get mad that the answer is fastfood.

If you ever want to learn how to cook, meal kits like Hellofresh can be pretty useful. I work as a cook and even I learn something new whenever i order one. Just put the meat in the freezer as soon as you get it and defrost them the morning that you are planning to use them to keep them fresh.

I wish I could stop thinking about how much I spend on food. Ahhhh! Spend your money the way you want. Everything is expensive. I still think cooking is cheaper but hey not everyone knows or likes to cook. I think the biggest waste is when you go grocery shopping and you let that food rot and then you get door dash on top of the food you let rot. The cheapest thing is think of a jar of spices and soy sauce. Those are good for several meals. I keep a lot of sauces and spices stocked up and then when I go grocery shopping I just buy meat and veggies and then make a meal with all the spices and liquid flavors (soy sauce, vinegar, balsamic vinegar, half and half, Worcestershire sauce etc.) I don't know if you have an executive functioning disorder (I do) so sometimes cooking and grocery shopping is hard and you have to find your own way that works. My way doesn't work for everyone. Maybe you can door dash and keep stuff for sandwiches or frozen meals. But you are probably getting so much/too much advice anyways. Don't sweat the door dash. Life is busy and hard and you probably spend more on gadgets and car stuff (just a baseless assumption).
Also, not to shame anyone for not cooking but it does get on my nerves when people claim cooking is more expensive. I literally just went grocery shopping. Usually I do just buy random meats and veggies but today I had more time to think of a recipe so I bought stuff specifically for some gnocchi ($1.69 at Aldi)I had in the pantry. Chicken breast ($8.06 2 breast), kale ($1.67), cooking wine ($2.99 for a 12.07 oz bottle can be used for many more meals), half and half ($1.99), fresh thyme ($1.79), shallots ($3.79 for two small shallots, wowie should have just bought onions). All together that is $21.68. I didn't take into consideration about how much of white wine I'll use or the half and half. But my spouse and I will have that for dinner and then I'll have it for lunch. I rotate my leftovers for lunch or freeze them. But again not trying to shame people. I understand this doesn't work for everyone. I get it, because brains is all different but I wanted to show the break down from my food madness. Buy stuff you'll eat and don't let it go bad and don't waste food. That's probably the best advice. Wow, I'm sorry I wrote you a book. Finances and groceries have been something I've been thinking of a lot after I needed to rethink our budget.

No need to justify your purchases to people online, I guess the major reason why people are invested is because you said you're hurting financially but there's more of us in the same situation then not. And there's a reason why we're all here, a mixture of bad personal purchases and the economy. There doesn't always need to be a grander plan to be rich when you're old, a healthy alternative approach is just to take every day of life one day at a time, and sometimes that means just giving in to the short term pleasures like ordering food or taking an Uber ride home after a terrible shift.

I don't know if this video is a sarcastic joke but it's funny lol. Freezing food will help u cook in bulk and also help on expiration and u can cook all at once so Ur set for weeks at a time if Ur worried about cost, time, expired food, and saving with bulk items. Or even dry freezing if your into that kind of thing.

Ok Alex, I understand not wanting to cook but it might be good idea just to try it for a bit and compare the bills.
I know you like testing things out so maybe do a week of groceries and a normal week and see which one is better.
Another thing to consider would be. Are your chickens laying eggs? If they are that’s an awesome protein source especially with the way egg prices are rn. Bread is fairly cheap and cheese can be stretched for at least a week. BOOM egg and cheese sammies. There are other things that you can make as well that won’t cost very much. Example: frozen chicken nuggets. Where I am it’s literally $10 a bag and it wouldn’t be hard to make that stretch for a few days. If you really break it down a $3 for a meal I s actually a lot of food. A whole package of ham is $4 and I doubt anyone would eat an entire package of ham in one meal.

I completely get how you feel about eating food. I'm the same way, I would forget to eat at times. The longest time I've went without feeling hungry at all was 3 days. I'm super skinny and can't afford to not have enough calories per day. One way I've combat the low appetite and need for more calories a day is by drinking a weight gaining powder called serious mass every day.

Bag of 7 Avacados for $7 plus sliced bread of 24 slices for $5 is $1.20 per meal of avacado on toast. Could add some lemon juice and tomatos on there too. (New Zealand dollars). I hate eating too, so I snack on high protein roasted nuts, 500g bag for $16 lasts me for 4 weeks is $4 per week. I also regulary drink Milo, high protein powder for hot chocolate. If your looking for ingredients with a long shelf life, frozen vegetables and brown onions, chuck them into a frying pan and make an Omelette, maybe serve with toast, is under $2 per meal especially if you have chickens. Side note stop buying potentially hazardous until you have weekly meal plans. Cooking and washing up does take an hour out of my day but i find peace in it. Put some music or a podcast on and enjoy the process. From a poor student living off of toast, pasta, omelettes, air fried chips, lentil curries and rice.

bro, when people say cook they dont mean get processed, boxed foods. You get a bunch of easy cook items. Frozen veggies, frozen fruits, use a slow cooker for your meats (set it and forget it) you can cook in bulk and then freeze it. 15 dollars is not a lot for doordash but if youre going to a meat market, youd be surprised how much good lean protein you can get for that amount of money. You get faster at cooking, and clean as you go. As for the poisoning, invest in a thermometer and unfortunately you will have to have some learning lessons. Pick better cheese, produce, check exp dates, and always be on top of what foods are going to spoil and whats going to be good a little longer. cooking is ingrained in me as a kid, i love it. it might not be for everyone, but if youre trying to gain weight you must cook. dont think about tacos think meats and styles they can be cooked (taco meat on tortilla and rice, taco meat salad, taco meat sandwich)

You will 100% save alot of money lets say you spend 100 a week on takeout you take that 100 buy a nice sized roast and a bag of potatoes, carrots, celery ect and you will still have 40+ dollars left over and that will feed you for a week
