Trichocereus Seedling Separation

  • I finally got round to separating the final pots with 4 or more Trichocereus Pachanoi seedlings in them - the roots were somewhat entangled so I'll leave these to dry out for 10 days before potting them up. A few seedlings have really not grown rapidly at all, I don't know if this is because these seedlings had poor genetics, or were crowded out by the larger seedlings in the pot. I'll pot them up anyway and see what happens to them.
I still have a few of these pots with 2 seedlings in them, I don't expect these to have roots quite so entangled but these will be given the same treatment soon, ready for the full growing season.

WOW your Tricho pachanoi seedlings are so healthy and you have made a fantastic job of separating them and detangling the roots, thanks so much for sharing the fantastic update with us Donald, and sending you lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to Northern Spain for a fantastic new week XXXX

Many thanks Lyn! I'm so pleased with how my Trichocereus seedlings have fared, and these ones have done very well outside (but sheltered from rain) over the winter. Some of those I've already repotted have really started to take off now, hopefully these ones will follow suit in a couple of weeks when they get put into their new pots. Now to try and get some of my more difficult species to start growing in the same way - I know Trichos are relatively fast so my expectations are probably unrealistic hahaha :-) 🙂
Wishing you and Hans a great week from Northern Spain, and happy cactusing! 💚🌵

Thanks for your comment Ziggy, there's so much to learn and I wouldn't have had as much success without the expertise from you and others to draw on. 🌵💚
