Day 3 - Tupelo, MS to Plano, TX: A real-time road trip driving only on back roads

In June 2024, I took a road trip to San Antonio, TX, which I have done many times. But on this particular trip, I wanted to experience the road a bit differently -- NO INTERSTATES! This drive was much more relaxing than a constant high-speed journey on a freeway.
This real time video is Day 3 of that trip, driving from Tupelo, MS to Plano, TX meandering through US and State Highways of Mississippi, Arkansas, SE Oklahoma, and Texas.
As I got into Arkansas, the heat was really becoming a factor. My camera "overheated" a couple of times -- however, it only shut the screen off after 3 seconds and continued recording, as opposed to my old GoPro 12 which would overheat and completely shut off in 70-degree weather... go figure.
After refueling somewhere along the way, I realized I could include the southeastern tip of Oklahoma in the route for the day, so I updated my route and headed that direction. I was amazed at AR 84/AR 8 and the route going through the Ouachita Mountains area -- so nice!
Once getting to Broken Bow, OK, there was a major rubber plant fire south of there in Idabel that I drove past as I headed towards the Red River into Texas.
All in all, an incredible day of driving -- heat aside -- and it just goes to show that you can't ad-hoc your way through a road trip on an Interstate highway... just sayin'
