  • The Australian Army Tank Museum at Puckapunyal, Victoria holds a collection of armored vehicles of interest to the School of Armour which trains personnel at this operational military base.
This footage was shot on Sunday 30-Oct-2022 and is of the Type 97 Te-Ke Tankette. This example was fitted with a 37mm AT gun, while others received only a Type 97 7.7mm Machine Gun. This AT gun was effective against light Soviet BT tanks encountered on the Chinese frontier in 1939, but could not effectively engage M3 Light (Stuart) or heavier tanks encountered in the Pacific.
It has a I4 Ikegai Diesel air-cooled engine, delivering a top speed of 42km/h. They were deployed in Infantry Divisions where they provided fire support and transportation/equipment hauling capability.
