Funny Girl was a Broadway musical and film with Barbra Streisand. 😊
I nearly spit out my drink when you said Funky girl! I feel old!! 😂
Me too! I started saying “No, FUNNY Girl” and my husband looked at me like I was crazy!!😝
@tashi_kitty I know! I talk to the screen too and I always get a look from my husband!
I always talk to my phone. People will say "you know they can't hear you, right?!"
They stopped using wooden thread spools sometime around 1960, but when my mom dird at 86 in 2000, I inherited her thread collection which still contained wooden spools. I used the last one recently, with no problems. 🌺
Nice to use them and I am sure you think of your mum each time you see or hold them ❤
After mom used all the thread off a wooden spool us kids would thread yarn through it and run around the house for the cats to chase. Wooden worked better than the plastic which were too light. Definitely late 60’s to early 70’s is right on the money for switching. By mid 70’s I would have been to old to get awake running around the house even though I still played with kittens
Wooden tray with orange tile is for cutting cheese hun. 1970s❤❤❤
That one was Epic for $3.99!
@@debyoung7818I was yelling at her to get it, but she didn’t hear me :( lol
I would have bought that wooden board. Definitely great from the 60s-70s and only 3.99$.
I yelled as well!!!!!
@@deneeburnshobbs And it appeared to be in perfect condition! Some are pretty beat up.
OMG! As a retired History teacher, your opening had me laugh. First day of 10th grade History, students are in groups trying to figure out what various artifacts are. One of them is a French Fry press- exactly like the one you show in the opening of this video 😂😂😂😂😂 thanks for taking me back!
I myself have fun with my kids and grandchildren with that game😂❤❤❤
That terrifying tool is a french fry cutter!
I would never have guessed that! 😂 I thought it was some kind of cheese grater! Thanks for telling us!!
I have 2 of them- makes great french fries
Right.
I thought it was a can crusher
I have my mom and dad's old potato French fries cutter.
I have a shelf made of spools that my grandmother made. The wooden spools are the legs. The each shelf has different size spools - larger spools up to much smaller spools. She put small metal rods through the spools. It has 5 shelves.
That was a script from "Funny Girl", a play, the movie had Barbara Streisand in it. It might have had some value.
Those dolls looked haunted and in coffins… 😂😂😂😂
Omgeee that's exactly what I was thinking. Guess I'm gonna have nightmares tonight😱
Lol those are bride dolls..lots of moms give them to their daughters before their wedding😊
My thoughts exactly! No wonder they got donated!
lol, that’s what I thought 😂
😂😂😂exactly what i was thinking - coffinated dolls - looked like Egyptian mummies
The pottery piece @ 10:21 is a sponge holder that allows your wet sponge to dry.
Persian Wood was a popular Avon scent before you were born, Jocelyn!
The Scent was absolutely Lovely! Beautiful container too! A steal at $2.99!!
I agree! @@debyoung7818
@@debyoung7818We must have the same taste. I just commented on one of your other comments, too:)
@@debyoung7818 I didn't remember the scent, but I recognized the name. And, that container looked to be in perfect condition. I still have a lot of Avon containers. Wondering if they sell at all now?
I have a jar of vintage thread spools from my grandmother who passed in 2012. I will hold onto them forever, she was the most amazing sewer/seamstress ever!
I bet you have buttons from her too .. sweet.. I was given a huge pickle jar of buttons when my neighbor passed away.. it was started in the late 1800s in her family.. it’s quite the treasure
@@Faith-qp8us Yes, sometimes a jar of colorful old buttons is an art piece on its own, especially when there are warm memories attached. ❤
That is a cheese and cracker tray from the 70's. Missing the knife
It is just lovely.
I love all things retro ..
Thanks for sharing ❤
Haha too funny youngsta....you make home fries with that machine!
Funny Girl was a famous broadway show made into a movie both starring Barbra Streisand !
Put the spools in old jars and sell that way.
I'm sure others have told you the magazine wasn't 'funky girl' but 'funny girl' and the graphic was probably from the movie with Barbra Streisand. It could've been from the stage show however. And I also knew it was a fry cutter, just for someone stronger than I ever was... If I was weak at your age, guess what I'm now at 70...? LOL
A great video as usual! However, my favorite part was your manicure! Absolutely gorgeous and my favorite color. 💜 Oh yeah, I also loved the "Thrift We Me at Goowill" I think you need a nap! Take care of yourself 😊😊
I was hoping she found something Gooey!!
Avon's Persian Wood Beauty Dust...from the 1950's ...those vintage spools were really neat! Pretty Fenton Vase...it's always interesting to see what's on the shelves...safe travels!
I would’ve totally bought that Avon powder dish lol
Why do all the resellers avoid AVON they all have such a dislike for Avon😢
I always wonder the same!!! I wish someone could tell us why.
@@elenalydon-tuomey7755I have heard that Avon is and was mass produced but I really like some of the pieces I have seen😊
I'm sure it is because Avon was so abundantly distributed it has low "value" now. I agree, that the powder dish was beautiful and would be wanted by many. I'm sure the low profit margin is the reason they avoid it.
Nostalgia would play a big part in its "value" to someone. For me, Avon's Charisma powder dish from the 70"s brings back sweet memories of my mom. ❤
She's too young to appreciate it and lacks the knowledge of the Divine Scents and Superb Quality of Avon Products! Some of today's "High End Named after Somebody" Perfumes really stink! I just thrifted a New Old Stock bottle of Topaze and first time I wore it out.. Compliments Galore!! ❤
The contraption is a french fry cutter. Put in a whole potato and pull the lever
Have to go back and check if that plastic horse was a 1960s Breyer in "woodgrain." Depending upon which model it is, they can run in the hundreds of dollars.
I still use one of those terrifying french fry cutters on not just potatoes, but squash and eggplant and such. Handy kitchen implement.
Its a wall mountable soft drink can crusher
@@suewinston-elliott2674 🤣🤣 Yeah, with a blade?? Come on now.
VINTAGE SPOOLS! ok, now I am an official antique. Loved that little dish that said I Love You.
that wooden tray thing was an old school.. ( my guess 70's) cheese board..those were the original charcuterie ..before they had the fancy name
I've been "collecting" wooden spools of all sizes for years, esp. back when no one wanted them. As a quilter/sewist, the thread, if it is still on the spool, is generally not useable as it is subject to " dry rot" over time and will break very easily, so I leave the thread on for the colors, and add it to my vintage punch bowl in my sewing/craft/crap room. I also have a small antique tread cabinet that holds small spools of silk thread. Also have wooden bobbins/shuttles from the Pendleton Woolen Mills in Oregon. Antique/vintage sewing stuff would never be left behind.
So funny! You picked up the gold plate and I thought “no! It’s missing a doo-dad” and then you said “looks like it’s missing done doo-dads!” These technical terms…. 😃love your videos.
Ditto!!
I found that very same Fenton vase (Violets in Snow) at our local Goodwill. Signed, hand painted with original Fenton sticker still on it! It was on a fresh cart being rolled out & I was given permission to grab it. I think I paid $3.99 for mine. I was so tickled over that lucky find.
The glazed pottery you thought might be a napkin holder, is a sponge holder😉I have one by my sink it’s great.
Crafters will love those spools 🧵!
🥔 potatoe / French frie cutter.
I still use one!!
Hi Jocelyn! That kitchen tool could also shave vegies ... known as a mandolin.
As an Antipodean, I got really excited to hear Crowded House playing in the background. Small things amuse MD. Great content thanks.
I have the bell that matches the Fenton. Beautiful
Loved the video ❤😊.
I love your chat as you look at an item and the price thanks for all you do. I love the yard sales flea markets and estate sales, and auctions but not so the containers.❤
I do well selling bells. Mostly brass ones but also unique and colored glass ones do well. I like the green bell. I do enjoy your banter. Also the owl is musical.
The ceramic slotted vase (for lack of a better way to describe it) is meant to hold a sponge next to the sink
How could anyone be mad at you Jocelyn 😊 A happy Easter to you and all your family
Love the fenton vase!!
Love your videos
I love the spools and crafting with them
Yes someone said what I thought. Those big dolls look like they are in caskets.
You got some great things!!!
Love the cardinal decor.
That wood charcuterie/cheese board was so awesome!!
Also, I collect those Nescafé glass world map mugs, it’s right there!!!😜😘😉Yes you can have 2 napkin rings only, for you and Andrew, then use different ones for the rest, how fun!
I have found some great napkin rings over the years- there was a time when we had 15 to 20ish people every holiday- so I went with holiday themes= Christmas- Easter- Thanksgiving- and flowered ones for Mothers day- it didn't matter if they matched as long as they were for the same holiday- also had a collection of silvertone and , goldtone ones that I used for none holidays- used all white dishes (and they didn't even all match- as the family grew I just bought more white dishes) and colorful tableclothes and napkins
Fenton vase, Perfectly Lovely!!! Great find!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
That kitchen tool in the beginning is a french fry cutter and we had one just like that back in the 1950s when I was a kid. Mom made the best french fries ever and most families we knew had one. French fries with ketchup was a big deal and served often!! Might have to make some today😉
Funny Girl was great!
Love seeing the wooden spools … when my Mom passed I repurposed the wooden spools in her sewing tin … in the shape of a heart …
I believe that contraption is a form of mandolin for slicing cabbage and other vegetables.
I use the little brown and blue crock at the first for rabbit and guinea pig feeders, they don't tip over and come in several sizes
Good finds, be safe!😊
Those napkin rings would have been cute on the bottom of tapered candles. I know you can’t burn candles because of the birds. I loved the old pitcher with the cherries. Even with no cups. It was beautiful and looked to be in good condition.
Oh my favorite the red bird light love those never saw a cardinal before love it l have film on my phone of one my customer has l watch it so pretty
What a great walk through. Interesting finds. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Uh loved the painted spoon!
Me too!
Thanks 😊
Napkin rings...mix & match! It's ok for them to not all be the same--especially when they're as cute as that bunny-ears version. Just keep the general "feel" the same for all placesettings on your tablescape. Also, love the wooden spools. So many DIY projects for those. I did a quick internet search for some, and people are so clever. Plus, I love all things old, wooden, and lovingly repurposed.
My mother was the oldest of 6 kids, had 4 of her own, and she dealt with 2 of my dad's relatives living with us for a while. After her nest was empty, she became a total minimalist. She keeps nothing...zip. First time I saw her toss some very fine decades old Bible School art, I was devastated. At 67 now, I get it. I'm not a minimalist myself, but I do get it. At 84, she does still love to shop for all of us...just no thrifting or yard sales and whatever you do, no "what-not" gifts her for. She'd rather have a Whitman's Sampler and is not afraid to voice that. ✌
agree - it is hard to admit to all the things that have passed through my hands as I grow older...some of which I now miss! I still thrift and check out the sellers online that I trust, but I sit on my hands for the most part during auctions as I do not need more things in my life. So lovely to see the items though and appreciate sellers "saving" them and moving them along to people who appreciate them.
You found great things ❤ California
I think that Fenton Vase was a fantastic find!
The wood thread spools are amazing
This video was so nostalgic when you were shopping with Andrew, first “ you can ring my bell “ then “ I won’t put my mouth on “ 😂 I love all your videos ❤
Groovy green bell! 🎉
Bossons sister came to lunch a number of years ago, very interesting lady. The moulds were smashed when the factory closed.
Love the dog lamp.
Hi Jocelyn
I love the people that reach in front of you, or pass you and try to beat you to the shelves. I can't tell you when I've even heard huffing, its been a while! funny.
Cracked up 😂.. when you came to the vases … thinking about a commercial… & the cat said “ Vaaahse “
The graphics at the end ... That's from the movie "funny girl" with Barbra Streisand. Great movie!
Around here (Chicago) it is Rainforest Cafe and Medieval Times glasses.
Taylor did an awesome job!!
the wooden owl in an Ocarina ..sometimes they are made of wood..sometimes pottery.. it is like a flute whistle..
6:16, cheese board, the little round magnet is for the knife
The wall pocket that was plastic is from Home Interiors. It was popular in the 80’s.
That contraption is a veggie slicer, I had one, it was my grandmas she used it to make homemade fries.
I was just going to say that, we had one when I was growing up it cuts the best homemade french
fries....
Hello Jocelyn 😊
I grew up with that french fry cutter. Ours had two different interchangeable blades.
If these collector plates where cheap enough, it would be nice to use them as regular dinner plates. Most of them have beautiful decorations on them, but I also would not want to put them on display. I would pick the animal and floral ones. Unfortunately I do not come across them very often here in the Netherlands, but they would look very nice with my dinner on it. 😃
that metal contraption is a chip maker as in fish and chips x
I love going with u shoping, we find Romany cool stuff.❤🎉❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
It’s a chip cutter I had one in the seventies ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Funny girl is a Barbara Striesand musical/movie..
.great music!!
Those bunny napkin rings would look great as kirten tie-backs.
That green bell looks like some value to it.
So depressed that you didn’t pick up the Cherry pitcher😢. I was drooling over it.
Potato slicer makes French Fries
The metal contraption is a French fry cutter from the 1950s. My mother had one when I was a kid. I’m 76 years old.
Right at the beginning, that was a french fry cutter. They make great homemade french fries with ease!
That cheese board from late 70s likely had a glass dome to cover the ceramic cheese plate
That antique pitcher was so gorgeous I think it would bring a high price, even without the cups. I can't believe you left it behind.
That metal kitchen piece you were looking at is a french fry cutter, I believe.
I believe the terrifying contraption is a wall mounted can crusher? It looks similar to one that I bought for my husband
2:03 You can bring bells back in fashion.
The weirdo/creepy bears, haaaa. When I was a kid in the 70’s, I made ceramics with my grandmother, and that’s one of the things we would make. 🧸😄
Hello from Mexico 👋
Jocelyn - beware getting glass bells - Jacob (at the Heart of Ohio) is flooding the market!😁
It is Funny Girl, Broadway play. Barbara Streisand starred in it back it the day.
