    You were not on too long Diane. It was super having your catch up and seeing your jumpers. Oh my goodness, you look absolutely gorgeous in all of them. Well done. What a delight having the little ones to stay over. A joy all round and what a poppet in the knitted dress. I love all the seasons but don’t do guilt when it comes to knitting or my other crafts. I worked in law and have now earned my retirement. This means I deserve to sit and knit when I want - and I do! Just today my husband and I had a grand day out on the train, and my knitting came with me. Enjoy your mum’s visit and hopefully we will “see” her next time. ❤

    Never apologize for going longer❤ it’s a gift to us! Your alpine glow sweater is beautiful, the lace details are just so special. I cannot wait to see your wool and honey all finished.
    I just love seeing the opening with this room, it always looks so peaceful and soothing to me. I just love the sheer drapes how you have them knotted and gently flowing. ❤

      @@theislandlamb well my knitting takes a hit during summer- very few hours to myself with my daughter home. But it is ok. Fall and routine is just ahead and I too love autumn! We go to Nantucket in September and I’m hoping for lots of knitting outside on the deck (also with planes coming and going all day!😂)

    It was so peaceful to knit while I listened to your podcast. I love that fall is on the way. I made that same Candide aran about twelve years ago. It was too big for me, way too big. Two of me could have worn it. I was so sad and couldn't believe it. A friend ripped it back and balled all the yarn for me. I could not bear to. I had planned to try again but have not yet. But as you were showing the sleeve it all came back to me. Thank you for sharing the sleeve tip for gauge in pattern measuring. I am not sure what happened. All the projects were inspiring. The dress for your grand niece was somsweet.

      Good morning, wow you’re the first person I’ve heard from who knit the Candide sweater. How interesting we had the same problem. Yes, heartbreaking to rip such beautiful intricate work! As you saw in the photo I wrap it around me and belt it. I literally let it sit for years before finding the right belt. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on the one for my sister in law. Thanks for following my channel and your comments! Happy knitting 🧶❤️

    A little late viewing but as usual a wonderful episode. It sounds like the little ones had a wonderful time with you. The Isabella dress is adorable. Here is a little chant I use to remember the make one right or left. I “left” through the FRONT door (needle goes front to back) I will be “right” back (needle goes back to front). Hope this helps. Enjoy the rest of summer. ☀️ 🌸

    I love your podcast, and you are my husband's favorite Podcaster! He says, "She presents herself so professionally! " (I agree).
    Thank you for your comments about Knit Companion. I don't know whether you're an iPad or Android user, but the wonderful feature, "Scribble", is an ideal way to mark up your pattern so you see it directly on the pattern rather than in the notes field. You could easily mark it up to scribble over the parts you don't need. Another thing I do is invert the row bar, so the background is darker than the highlighted line. Then on the pages you never need to follow are just darkened when you turn off the row bar for that individual page.
    Thanks for all your tips! I hope this one is helpful to you!

    Gppd evening Diane and greetings from Laval, Québec,
    Thank you for this episode. As always, it is a real pleasure to spend time with you while I'm knitting on my projects.
    I giggled at your comments about the M1R/M1L because I too used to be confused all the time...until Stephen West set me right!
    M1R = I'll be RIGHT BACK!
    M1L = I LEFT the FRONT door open!
    Now, I have it down pat and I don't need to remind myself or look it up in the glossary section anymore.
    Hope it works for you too!

    Diane as always this episode is also such a delight. Lovely knitting and loved seeing the children at the end. 35 minutes just flew by like the planes we heard😀
    Now I have to knit the Alpine bloom. And in a similar colour combo. I wonder if I can get some yarn like the tonal blue you have used which makes it look like a painting. Maybe difficult to get it, we have solids or colourful variegated yarns. Let’s see.
    Thank you and already looking forward to your next episode.

    Just found you! You sound like you're on the right track with Wool & Honey with your decrease ideas. I really loved knitting the yoke, kept trying it on, was perfect so blindly carried on through to the end. It's huge. The body below the yoke is just too big. I blocked some of the bulkiness out but the back bulges and every time I put it on I take it back off. Real shame. Maybe one day I'll re-do it, but probably not, too many other things to knit.

    • @theislandlamb
      @theislandlamb  Рік тому

    Hi Diane, love your finished objects ❤. Beautiful alpine bloom, I’ve been eyeing that one! When I use knit companion I read through the pattern and to prevent confusion, for me, I use the highlighter and increase the color to black and black out the instructions I don’t need. Not for every thing but just the parts that I might confuse. Thanks for another lovely podcast.

    Diane, I was thinking of you when I heard of the Harbor Inn fire. I hope you made out ok without power,etc. Very sad. 😢
    The pullover is stunning and looks beautiful on you! As does the Caitlin hunter top. Love the lace accents - you have a good eye. You might have inspired me to try a fisherman’s knit sweater. I’ve never forgot to change just one tip but have forgot to switch to the larger needle on a Lovenote….couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the fabric bit almost finished the body. I was knitting with fingering, mohair and sequins - put in timeout, so tempted to throw it away but finally ripped it all out, redid it and had a beautiful holiday sweater. ❤ I’m so happy you share your challenges as well as your successes, it makes me feel better. 😅. Looking forward to fall too. My friends and I are planning a trip to BI, they were so sad to hear about Northern Lights closing. We wondered if the Zdonk and petting zoo is still there. Do you know? Take care, Kris

      Hi Kristine and thank you for thinking of us on the island. So sad however a miracle that no one was hurt. Demolition will begin mid September and hopefully a rebuild soon thereafter. I live in the middle of the island so no power loss for us.
      Yes also sad about North Light Fiber. I did manage to buy enough Water Street a lovely cashmere merino blend in a snowflake white to make a sweater!!!!
      When you and your friends come to the island if you want and I’m on island I’d love to meet up with you for a coffee or drink. So glad you reworked your sweater. Yup changing needles and tips must be taken seriously 🥹
      Happy knitting 🧶 ❤️🌻

      Good morning and thank you. I’ve used a life line when knitting lace shawls. Otherwise I insert a smaller needle into the row above where I plan to rip to and then rip and transfer stitches back gently. I will definitely try to remember to discuss this method in the next episode. Take care and happy knitting 🧶❤️🌻
