    I'm an American. I will tell you, that people will complain about anything. They dont have anything valid to say. Not because of you. Because, they want everybody to do things their way. Even though... they dont own 1 bird. Ignore them. Your birds are treated very well, and, you see to their health. Your providing good food to children and others. Great job. Thank you for sharing.

    My wife and I got 6 chickens last year (because we live in the city limits in the USA and are only allowed 6 chickens) and now we're going to get 24 quail and 3 or 4 rabbits to raise for the eggs and meat. Thank you so much for this video. It's great to see how many eggs you are getting every day and it's really awesome to know that it's helping to keep your community health and profitable! You earned my "Like" for sure, brother. God bless you and yours! (Sgt (Retired) Charlie, US Army Signal Corps, TN, USA)

    The soft shell lacks calcium and also it signifies that your quails doesnt acquire enough sunlight or vitamin D and also vitamin A. There are some aspect that your quail is fat which sometimes lead to produce several egg follicle.

  • @hunterkill97

    For the cage. I agree to you about the high cage, I just wondering why not make the cage a bit more spacious for the quail ? To give them extra breathing room for space, also easier to clean the cage as well.

    • @7hilladelphia
      @7hilladelphia 2 роки тому +9

      Quail rise up fast and strong if startled, breaking their necks but low ceiling cage prevents death. Otherwise make a 5ft high A frame cage or just a 5,6ft high cage they can soar up and safely come down or if a high cage, have things they can land on, up high

      If you give them more space, they will have more legroom to roam around. They will spend energy that should be best reserved to laying eggs. The more energy they spend, the more they will eat. The more they eat because they are moving around, the more feeds you will buy. It's a bit unethical but that's just how things are.

    Dexter, please find a way to add ventilation (hint: fans) to your animal housing. I have worked many years in commercial chicken houses and there was always large fans placed to cool the animals. They can die from heat prostration . They won't eat properly either. Don't get them too fat, as this also increases their body heat. I am trying to give you good hints. I am glad you are finding good success so far. Wish you the best.

      That' s a great Idea but i also would go for maximum of 4 quail per Quadratmeter. Also add a sandbath and some hiding opportunities. Oh and don't forget this wire ground is not good for them their little feet get stuck use wood chips, ground or grass if you have the opportunity. If you offer them a happy life they can live up to 4-8 years. They will be very thankful and will give you in spring, summer and autumn everyday eggs.
      Hopefully it helps :)

      You must not know much at all about quails. Either you do a very short under 1 ft cage. or you go to a 6 ft cage. Quail spook and fly straight up at the sky, if they dont have 6 ft of space, or under 1 ft, they have enough force to break their own necks. The grid floors allows waste to easily get away from the birds, which is obviously better then having them sit in it. Educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself.

      Maya Narottam we’ll unfortunately quail are not good to free range due to them flying away. I put levels in mine so they can get away if they need to.
      They also get broody when they are bored, fighting over food, mating or are lacking space.
      During mating season you will see them loose a lot of feathers due to the males latching on to the back of their heads. I like to add ferns to my bird cages it gives them a place to hide and protection from the others.

      I had my quails in a cage just like that and I had the same problem, the quails was picking out there feathers, getting hot really fast, getting stress and they stopped laying after a year. But when I free range the quails they was the healthiest quails I ever seen and they started to lay again and they didn't fly. I had them in a chicken tractor so they won't get killed by predators. And it have many ways to stop quails from fly.

    Dear Dexter, I always admire the love you show for your animals and the understanding you have for all their needs, but why you don't give the quails a large aviary, you can provide them with nests , or they can lay on the floor, they don't deserve to live so packed even if they will die in one year !!!

      @@Thewellshomestead I just don't understand you. Quails are living things just like humans. I think it's okay to kill animals because they'll die at some point anyway, but then they should at least lead a good life and what this is is pure animal cruelty. There should be a maximum of 3 quails per 1 square meter. They also need a sand bath, hide and provide food that is always available, which is not difinitive. And the poor quail keep breaking their legs in this wire. So I really feel sorry for the quails.

      @@russell311000 yes, the quality of meat will change, once the bird has been stressed = in Australia and Germany this known very well, it changes the biochemistry of the meat, and increases chance of disease spread from birds to meat in these conditions. then you eat that tainted meat and can get very sick.covid came from bad bat meat not cooked properly. bird flu what you think came from? disease spreads in bad conditions, no matter how hard you clean the cage. the bird has the disease, and even constant antibiotics dont help just breed tougher unstoppable germs. its calle animal husbandry when farming, when you care for the animal you eat. I live in Australia, and used to live in Germany, and my quails are the best and are paid for in much higher price because of their taste and quality. I charge five time the price for my meat as its organic. they yield so so many eggs I have to give them away, they are so happy to lay for me! they get time to run every day, and I find after their run, that night and the next morning, way more than this video.. after their exercise they get down to laying good quality eggs! they lay so well its extraordinary!
