I'm an American. I will tell you, that people will complain about anything. They dont have anything valid to say. Not because of you. Because, they want everybody to do things their way. Even though... they dont own 1 bird. Ignore them. Your birds are treated very well, and, you see to their health. Your providing good food to children and others. Great job. Thank you for sharing.

The soft shell lacks calcium and also it signifies that your quails doesnt acquire enough sunlight or vitamin D and also vitamin A. There are some aspect that your quail is fat which sometimes lead to produce several egg follicle.

  • @paganevanson8664

Sorry dexter but the way they are kept is cruel! They are too hot (always panting) they have no access to space. Why not build a proper enclosure in a shaded area so that they are not climbing all over each other? Give them nest boxes? If this was in the uk you would be closed down. It’s all well and good giving them vitamins in their water but the fact that the birds are pecking at each other tells me that the birds are bored, frustrated and there isn’t enough space for them in those stupid cages. Sorry dexter but you have really disappointed me with this. I thought you were a animal lover but this isn’t loving your animals. Your fish have plenty of space, why not give them the space. Never mind the egg production, the animals well-being is more important. It is cruel, there is no other way to describe it!

I hope you’re vegetarian, this is literally how every working farm is…… it’s not practical to give them that much space… I have quail about 30 in a large 8ft by 4ft cage, it’s nice but definitely not practical. Especially for a food business with high demand.

Quail rise up fast and strong if startled, breaking their necks but low ceiling cage prevents death. Otherwise make a 5ft high A frame cage or just a 5,6ft high cage they can soar up and safely come down or if a high cage, have things they can land on, up high

    • @ReynaxisSolutions

If you give them more space, they will have more legroom to roam around. They will spend energy that should be best reserved to laying eggs. The more energy they spend, the more they will eat. The more they eat because they are moving around, the more feeds you will buy. It's a bit unethical but that's just how things are.

That' s a great Idea but i also would go for maximum of 4 quail per Quadratmeter. Also add a sandbath and some hiding opportunities. Oh and don't forget this wire ground is not good for them their little feet get stuck use wood chips, ground or grass if you have the opportunity. If you offer them a happy life they can live up to 4-8 years. They will be very thankful and will give you in spring, summer and autumn everyday eggs.
      Hopefully it helps :)

I've raised quail. Cages like this are short so the quail don't fly up and crack thier heads on the ceiling, they have a ridiculously high startle reflex. They will literally break thier head or neck and die if the ceiling is the wrong height. Quail like to burrow into tall grass and feel safe and enclosed, they are ground dwelling birds. The low ceiling actually makes them feel safer than being out in the open. You will notice none of the birds are startling in the video because they feel safe with the low ceiling.
You can keep them in a more natural environment... The thing is they don't use nest boxes so colleting eggs is problematic. Roll out cages like this are the standard for raising quail. Adding bedding or sand makes the cages unsanitary and makes it so the eggs don't roll out.
So could these cages be a little homier? Yes. Do the birds look healthy and happy? Also yes.

    • @IceHax
      @IceHax 4 роки тому +1

3838383 8383838 this is one way to keep them yes, but I assure you they make bigger and more eggs if kept in a large aviary (that’s how I keep my quails), I have a 10*10 feet aviary and I keep 20 quails (16f 4m) and they lay for me every day 16 big eggs. If you don’t care about the animals but only about your earnings, sure you can keep em that way, they can’t complain anyway... but keeping them in a more natural setting benefits both them and you. Plus you can charge extra because they’re “natural” eggs

You must not know much at all about quails. Either you do a very short under 1 ft cage. or you go to a 6 ft cage. Quail spook and fly straight up at the sky, if they dont have 6 ft of space, or under 1 ft, they have enough force to break their own necks. The grid floors allows waste to easily get away from the birds, which is obviously better then having them sit in it. Educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself.

They also get broody when they are bored, fighting over food, mating or are lacking space.
During mating season you will see them loose a lot of feathers due to the males latching on to the back of their heads. I like to add ferns to my bird cages it gives them a place to hide and protection from the others.

I had my quails in a cage just like that and I had the same problem, the quails was picking out there feathers, getting hot really fast, getting stress and they stopped laying after a year. But when I free range the quails they was the healthiest quails I ever seen and they started to lay again and they didn't fly. I had them in a chicken tractor so they won't get killed by predators. And it have many ways to stop quails from fly.

Damn, them quails lay some eggs. I'd like to try some. Need a farm that doesn't cage them like this though.

This is the best way to cage quail. Low cages prevent them from spooking and breaking their necks. I do agree he could remove some birds from the pen but this is normal for egg producers

Quail eggs have a lot of cholesterol but it is the good kind. Also other things that make them healthier than chicken eggs.

They do feather picking because they are overcrowded and frustrated. Efficient system but not humane.

I love your channel and never had an issues with your ideas and have had my own ideas about doing the same as you in your different money making. But I feel your birds here are to compact. Meaning to many in a cage. Not being negative or judgement of your methods. Just feel they should have more running room without having to run into another. Good work on everything though.

Dexter I saw u washing the eggs u must not wash eggs u must pass a damp cloth on them because eggs has tiny holes in them and water can pass through it and cause the egg to spoil fast.
