►About the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio
Conceived by Rolling Stones tour manager Ian Stewart and built in 1968, the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio (RSM) was the first ever professional mobile recording studio. The mobility of the truck and flexibility of its recording equipment allowed the RSM to capture some of the most iconic rock ‘n’ roll records of all time. The RSM is even referenced in the Deep Purple song “Smoke on the Water,” which tells the story of how the mobile studio was almost destroyed by a casino fire when the band recorded in Montreux, Switzerland. Acquired by the National Music Centre (NMC) in 2001, the RSM has since been restored and is now available to be used by artists. It is now parked next to the King Eddy stage, a historic live music venue, where it can record directly from the stage or connect to any of NMC’s unique live rooms. What a fantastic story, Robert! So cool to hear Jason's description of the rich history of this amazing piece of kit! And crazy to realize its next phase of that history is right here in Alberta.

Two of the biggest benefits of an extended frequency response are transient and phase response. You want the leading edge of any drum or cymbal hit to be nice and sharp and you also want all of the overtones of whatever you are recording to line up nicely with the fundamental.

Stew was asked to leave the band because of his looks, his big jaw. They figured out a roll for him being road mgr., roadie and pianist. This might have had something to do with his mother, they did t want to disappoint her, if memory serves. His van played a roll in the arrangement also.
Stew only played on songs that were in Major keys. He called Minor keys, F'n Chinese music.
So, there you have rock history, not here say/rumor!

@@jonwallace9142 Haha! Great anecdotes. 50+ years after the fact I don't even care how true any of it may be - sure there will be 10 wildly diverging opinions from the 10 folks who were in the room at the time
