Honestly this helps so much after my last tournament. It explains a few things that I was worried about since as the 1 in the snake I wanted to advance up the field but knew that my home was playing a 3-2 d-side. My 2 wasn't looking my way and would only do so after the 1 on d-side made it the our d3. It was "If A then B" paintball but it is hard to define it as someone who is younger and less experienced than my teammates.

Just my opinion but your teams strategy sounds correct. Your “2” was likely not looking your way because he was shutting down the Doritos from tower or in the mini w. And it’s true your Dorito player couldn’t wouldn’t have really been able to keep people out of the snake until he was in d3. You likely could of crawled down the snake but you should always move with a purpose. Ie I’m going to crawl to the snake 50 because I know I can shoot x y or z player from there. For the most part honestly there is so much attention on the you in the snake simply being there it frees up a couple of your guys to shift as well. So soak up the attention, be there alive, no need to even shoot anyone. Let people shift into better spots next to you in the large brick and then start killing people with the comfort of knowing you aren’t going to get run down, and even if you do it’s a trade with your team in better spots

Our team played first tournament after about a month of practice and our team placed 2nd in d6 3v3. I have never played paintball before this year and all your videos have helped me tremendously to be ready for my first tournament. Excellent video! I always thought of this as 'reactive paintball'; solid B plan tactics but can be predictable at times. 'Proactive paintball' takes a step ahead by anticipating opponents moves; i.e. when a snake player gets out, lane the backfill. Those backup plans can really come in clutch 💪
Totally agree. This applies to shooting at your opponent as well. You're not shooting at where they are, you're shooting at where they're going to be. Thank you!

We think alike, I’ve always used the term IFTTT if this than that, for this scenario would it not be better if the player shutting down the Dorito side to never come off this role and instead have a player fill into the snake under the his buddies lane ? If the snake mini w is so easy to make and shut down I would assume it would be tough for your Dorito guy to come up and take over the role. ( plus it forces him into a heads up gun fight vs truly shutting down a zone). Strategies and methods like these are what I truly like to discuss back and forth to come up with the ideal situation. We need to get you more guests live. You’re building a great community.

Since the tournament has come and gone, I don’t care to have a super long form discussion on it, but I think my counter to having a player dive under the snake players stream is that it, in my opinion, 1) risks the number 2’s body unnecessarily, especially when you already have a player who crossed the snake gap and is ready to push, and 2) drops the pressure you need to hold on the snake from the number two without there being anyone to pick it up while he moves. The cross field Dorito hold is done only until you get someone in the Doritos, which usually isn’t long. From there, you then can drop the job and push the snake-all the while you were holding snake pressure and Dorito containment.
@@SVPPaintball see these are the conversations people should have back and forth to figure out strategy or game theory. But I’ll agree with the fact that it doesn’t hold a lot of value after the event has come and gone.
