Boom didn’t print covers in the Buffy and Angel library editions either! I can’t believe they didn’t print any covers for this release. It’s such a high profile book! 😑
So pleased Boom! have delivered this run in a deluxe HC but it doesn’t feel like a proper collection without having the covers included as well. Still a beautiful looking book. Thanks Omar!
@@tobiasbaumgartner8629 the umbrella academy LE’s had a deluxe that was double the price £33.99-66.99 in the uk but they gave a different book design unique to the slipcase edition and a portfolio with an art print. I’m not saying it’s worth it but it certainly helps paying the extra if it’s more than just a slipcase on offer. But as ever worth is in the eye of the beholder I’m sure lots will be happy with the slipcase.

This & 'Lady Mechanika' are two of my great discoveries, picked both up from issue 1 knowing nothing about them and they both became must reads!
Some ppl are trying to sell the slipcase edition for $200. That means you paying $150 for a box 😃 I was lucky enough that my preorder with my LCS got fulfilled.
With the numbers of variants they’ve released (including the upcoming David Mack ones for the “Slaughter Packs”), they can release all the covers in a single book like Spawn or DKIII.
Great story! I think I read 16 or 17 issues digitally. Really fun, quick and action packed read. I don't think I'll be buying any physical version unless a complete collection comes out in a few years. Thanks for the review!

Got mine last week, thankfully. Its a nice package overall. Though a bit odd thats slightly larger than the usual OHC trim. Not complaining, though! Glad the series got the deluxe treatment. Looking forward to Once & Future!

Not in love with the art but as you passed the pages I could feel it growing on me... I've been loving Tynion's Batman run, so I'm itching to give it a read.

Hi, great Upload. I am based in the UK and have just come back from Southamptons Forbidden Planet and I can't believe I managed to pick the hard cover 2nd edition for only £20 it's priced at £64. My version had the Red mask on the cover and not the white version.
I'm happy waiting for the regular deluxe 😄. It's the same without the slipcase. Still glad Boom is kinda owning up to their mistake and reprinting. Hoping a second volume collects House of Slaughter too.

Excited to pick this up, channels so many cool comics, a little bit of Buffy there, a like bit of Mage with the supernatural going place to place. I read 6 volumes and decided to wait for the Deluxe release. I will skip the slipcase version but its an awesome design.

My slipcase edition is still in the shrink wrap and I didnt realize it was the exact same book as the regular deluxe edition which is a bit disappointing. I really hope that book two has the cover gallery because there were some really awesome covers for this series.
Just found out that pre orders are open for Book 2, due out May 21st 2024. Woop woop! However, it seems it will be skipping 16-20, which contains Erica's origins. This is super sad. It collected 16-35 rather than 21-35
Is it true that the second volume of the second volume skils chapters? I was thinking of collecting the series in deluxe edition, but I heard that there are missing chapters.
I preordered this book (sans slipcase, $20 for a cardboard box is a bit much) as soon as I heard about it. I held off from picking up the trades because I figured Boom might do something like The Woods Yearbook editions (another great Tynion story). Didn't know it'd be that big though. Disappointed about the lack of covers, the series' covers are great.
Seems like no love went into making this hardcover. $20 for a slipcase and no cover gallery. Cover galleries shouldn’t even be considered “extra” anymore and should be staples in all collections.
Well if Omar got his slipcase there's hope for the rest of us who preordered. The artwork is amazing can't chase after all those variants in singles preferred just the main story after awhile got too ridiculous. Yes I do think vol 2 will be prepped with the covers there's more than enough. The signed one sounds cool but it's OK maybe I can see the creators at a con down the road and pay up for signatures that way. Gotta make that call sometimes can't have it all

Nothing worse than preorder and paying for items than them to turnaround and not deliver. Up there with Black Mask solicitation approach for White (at least Bad Idea set up a different approach). I have ordered elsewhere now lets see if they come through. If I was BOOM I would have delayed print run to avoid this kind of nonsense.

Very rare to not always. Boom has probably made like 6 different covers for the Power Rangers HCs by now. If it wasn't they accidentally printed an even lower amount there would be an uproar over a $20 mark up for just a slipcase.
Maybe you'll have to buy the covers for 20 bucks, just like the slipcase. This is where you see that the Marvel Omnibus guy (forgot his name) is good at his job & the Boom guy sucks at his job.
I don't think much of the slipcover. They could have designed something more interesting, visually appealing. Even if there was collectibility of that version, not sure it is worth it. Hopefully people aren't gullible and pay flipper prices for this edition, and wait for the reprinting.
I think that Tynion IV is my favorite author however I am loyal to DC and Marvel but I would read this for sure now that it is done, although like you said, this is volume 1 and there is more to come.

Why waste a page of just black space wen that could be used for the covers ah that is so annoying.. the spine is a bit plain to but the no covers kills me every time
I have watched several reviews complaining about this slipcase. On regards of a foresable adaptation, my bet goes to Sadie Sink or Millie Bobby Brown as Erica Slaughter.
Not worth the money. There is no cover gallery. The trade paperbacks are better for fraction of the cost. I prefer the single issues, those are the ones that will appreciate in price. Trade paperbacks and hardcovers are just for reading...nothing more. They rarely appreciate in price. Actually, hardcovers in the past that increased in price almost always go down later on. About the bigger size...well, with all due respect to Werther Dell'Edera, his art is a bit too kooky to look nice blown up in size like the dimensions of the slipcase edition. Regular size fits his art style better.

I really enjoyed the first 3 volumes I can’t wait for the next volume to release.
