My first mod on my 2019, with a hitch! On the factory hood you need to re-route the washer fluid line or it gets crushed by the strut. Since posting my video I also recut the hole in my battery cover all the way to the cover’s edge so it can completely come off, and isn’t trapped on the strut. I love this mod and recommend it to all Mustang owners!
When I get my Mustang, i'm 10000% buying and installing these! To be honest I kinda hate that Ford doesn't provide these installed stock from factory :(...
My thoughts exactly -- I would leave the prop rod in place for that reason alone. I've had prop rods fail in the past, and it's a pain not to have a way to keep the hood up.
Looks like a great mod, one question though....it appears that anytime you need to take the battery cover off, you have to take the strut off? Did I miss something in the video? How easily the strut detach? Do you need a tool to disconnect it?
I just bought a '21 GT. Previous owner removed prop rod and installed some cheap hood struts that don't even hold up the hood. How long do these Ford ones last?
follow up on this, are they stupidly squeeky? I just installed mine and they were awful and so I took them back off assuming something was wrong. Then i dropped the little washer with locking teeth down in the wheel well. lol. do you know if cj pony parts supplies replacement parts and are your struts squeeky
Great videos, you keep it simple. I've had my 5.O litre GT Mustang in Grabber Green with the Shadow pack for a week now. I've ordered the genuine gas struts and after seeing your recommended mods video, I just ordered the JLT Oil Separator and will be looking at the H pipe for the exhaust. Keep up the good work, I love my Pony. P.S I'm in Australia, have you seen any 2020 Mustang floor mats with the Mustang or the name on it, doesn't seem to have much variety here. Take care mate..
Your hat got in the way. I ended up making a "slot" more than a groove on the battery tray, Nice job pointing out the "Circular Doohickeys". I also ran into an issue where my windshield washer hose on the passenger side got "crimped" by the hood strut. I had to move a few mounting clips to re-route the hose so it would ne "pinched" when the hood was closed.
Yes. Get rid of it and install the Roush kit. The Ford Performance version has no way to prevent this rotation when torqued to 20 ft. lbs., which may allow the strut to pop off and damage the hood or fender.
Hi Andrew! Great work! This is definitely a needed mod! A shame that this is not standard with a Mustang only that old hood holder from back in the 1960s (?) :D I was missing to see how it works, like opening and closing the hood and hearing this kind of swooshing sound... but you were hungry I guess... :) Great vid as always!
Great informative video, it looks like a very simple installation process, I only wish that after all that work installing the kit, instead of showing your grass and yard that has nothing to do with the installation, you could have spent the remaining time on the video to show people how the hood actually opens and closes with the newly installed product, you just left everyone hanging by not demonstrating how it now works better, you just left it to our imagination and a lawn product that nobody cares about. 😒
Just finished installing mine. The struts could use a little more spring in them. I have to lift the hood past 1/2 open, then it slowly opens all the way.
Just so you guys know.. he was right, the bottom bal stud l with the 2 posts on it goes on the left side... But was wrong In that the left side is the DRIVER side, not the passenger side
This mod sucks. sometimes the struds just bail at you and the hood drops shut. The previous owner tossed the rod, now I have to find a replacement for such a niche part in the EU. Edit: I just looked up this video to see where the rod has to be attached.

Where did you cut the hole?! I’m
So confused! It keeps touching and it’s so frustrating
Did you reroute the wisher line? How did you reroute it? Ty
So, when will we paint the garage?

This was the first mod I just did on mine.
Just got the struts. Thanks for the video. I was wondering about leaving the prop rod in case the struts ever fail?

When I installed mine the his and fenders creak a lot when closing it opening the hood now is this normal?
I installed it on mine but my hood don’t seem to close. Do you know what I may be doing wrong?
Can you make a hole without a drill any recommendations can I just the drill bit with hand?

Nice edge lines. Looking forward to your home and garden channel!!
Lol coming soon! 😄
Just installed mine and found the driver side bracket keeps swiveling and has dug into the metal. Did you find a way to fix that or modify it?
Yes. Get rid of it and install the Roush kit. The Ford Performance version has no way to prevent this rotation when torqued to 20 ft. lbs., which may allow the strut to pop off and damage the hood or fender.
So if u wanna take the battery cover off u need to undo the entire strut? (Battery side)?
Are you happy with the struts? Do they work well?
I need those post haste 😫

It'd be cool if the Mustang got matching green sport seat covers to match the exterior. Something to make it pop.

Left and right should always be refereed to by sitting in the drivers seat. Drivers side is left passenger is right, in the USA.
Next mod should be back up lighting from DD With the the taillight models

Love that green
Good you had that hat on. I almost saw something xD

Thankyou
If you can do it, I know that I can do it to, your so nervous. Hey 👋 leave prop rod in case of emergency
Nice hat!!! GO TARHEELS!!!
Great time to wear a hat LOL JK
Nice ride!
Haha I always wear hats! 😁
Gold Pony speaking of which I was always curious how come you never wear any ford or mustang related swag? Just not into it?
as much as you block the install with your hands you should have somebody else video!
Now your hood opens just like a Camaro !
:D
