Just bought one exactly this 4 days ago for US$2580 after taxes. Why...? I got sick and tired of looking for the best price to performance card, the RTX 3080. These are almost impossible to come by. Only scalpers with bots can purchase 3080s right now. They're all over eBay and StockX at outrageous prices. So I said F-it and bought the best "gaming" card available on the market at my local computer parts store. This thing is a beast. Paired it with a 5950X. Love it! 😍
I just ordered mine on December 28th! This is a shockingly beautiful card. I paid just a little over $2600 in Canadian dollars. I hope it comes in soon! Edit: For anyone wondering why I bought this card, it’s for work first, gaming second. In Canada, especially in the province I live in, the card retails for $2499 and tax is 12%.
You are sick for paying that much. This card doesn't worth more than 1000$ (US). Scalpers sell cards for that high price because there are still idiots like you who will pay that price. I payed around 1200$ for my 3080 Strix Oc at the end of the year. Much better buy than yours.

But this card is basically non existent here for now. I’ve only seen two resellers of the 3080 model since release and they were from newegg. The sellers sold the 3080 for $1900 they told me. Newegg Canada charged $1499+20 shipping then taxes so yeah they profited about $300. But once again only 2 3080s. The 3090s haven’t showed up yet. I have my 3080 back ordered since December for $1199. Hopefully they come in soon

I have two computers build to the different purpose. The first build are Threadripper 3970x with the Suprim X for editing and rendering, the second build are i9-9900k with the Strix for gaming. Which in the past few weeks I barely use the Strix build to gaming at all so I can't tell you how good the Strix are. If you want to choose one of these GPU I suggest you should buy the one you would like to see every day.

RTX 3090 is more so used for rendering as the price point covers the extra VRAM in comparison to the RTX 3080. It’s basically next to the Titan but advertised for “gaming” to break your bank. In my opinion, the RTX 3080 is a better pick for gaming and your money. Unless you got cash to burn, sure, that 3090 is a beauty!
K S would a 5900x and 3080 be a good combo for a system that’s more gaming orientated but can do some basic to intermediate video editing / photoshop work and streaming be sufficient? I haven’t been part of the pc scene for a few years now. (32gb of ram too)
@@RileyyWho With 12 cores and 24 threads on that CPU, 10GB of VRAM on the GPU, and 32GB of RAM - absolutely! It’s probably more than enough to use for streaming and multiple browsing tabs, but with that said, it does depend on what you’re doing, how heavy the workload is that you’re doing, and how many things you want to do at one time. 4K video editing / photoshopping should be no problem with that combo unless you’re running multiple heavy rendering instances, then you might look at some bottle necking with that 10GB RTX 3080. Other than that, you’ve already hit the sweet spot for quality photo and video editing with that build, my guy!
K S thanks man, have been unsure for a while. was going to go with the 5800x but a lot of people are saying it’s the worst chip - bang for buck wise. luckily here in australia most of the new cpu’s and gpu’s are in stock as there’s less demand. i’m looking at building it around july as i’ll get a large sum of money around then due to tax return so hopefully even then stock will be available and cheaper (by available i’m chasing the white strix 3080 oc lol)

3:07 - Heh, no matter how careful you are (you seem to be quite careful), it's hard not to make a tear on the box. With these ASUS inner box is too big for the outer box, should be at least 1mm smaller to prevent tears. It's also hard to get the inner box out. But anyway, you don't game with the box. Still, I always try to be as much careful as I can unboxing items.
