I was there in period, the 911 gt1 was outclassed in lap times. But the old adage always applies, to finish first, first you must finish Those Toyota's were rocketships, but it was known in advance that their gearboxes were the weak link. I've got a Revoslot #27 I use at the slot club . Looking forward to my 12 days at the Sarthe this year .😉
I love the Hypercar era, but theres just something about GT1 LMP900 etc. Maybe its because I had the Le Mans PS1 and PS2 games and played them with my dad a lot.
That i miss those times is an understatement,Porsche 911GT1 is one of my favorite cars and i dare say one of the most beautifull racing cars. Behind McLaren F1GTR of course,ha ha... Also played GT1 and 2,TOCA,LeMans on PS1 and PS2 and latter models just didn't or couldn't match the PS2. It simply rules. This video is great, thank you for uploading it and reminding me that it's not just me,everybody loves those times, machines and races more then current ones. Too much "stuff" is between the driver and the working parts of the cars and now even bikes. Help this help that. Leave the ABS and scrap the lot. Remember that drivers in early LeMans and F1 had direct mechanical linkage to the controls of the car,not to even start on weight shifting and all that... Keep vids like this coming. It's great.
Hard to believe after this year's race and W.E.C. season it's like going back in time with the next gen prototypes. 😮😮😊😊😊😊 Even the race next year would be different with no L.M.P.2. and GT3 cars in a 24 hour race at the event ever.😮😮😮😮😢😢😊😊😊
I love this race, but once the chicane's were put on the Mulsanne straight it ruined it, that was the biggest spectacle watching the cars run flat out all the way, can't imagine what a feeling that must have been if you were a driver 🇬🇧
I have so much nostalgia for those GT1 cars from Gran Turismo. Those games were a gateway into racing for those of us who grew up in the 90s
yes, i also grew up with gt and seeing all those vipers and r390 is just like it
There are some people that say racecars should not exist in gt games, as gran turismo is all about racing street cars and shitboxes.

Same for the Porsche and Mercedes GT1 cars me thinks
@@sourkraut1868 I think u meant gt1
That was my first time being able to stay up and watch the whole race live.
What a good time that was. Cant believe it's now 25 years ago.
We're really old bro

GT3 cars will still drive next year, just no more GTE
LMP2 will still be at Le Mans with a minimum of 15 entries guaranteed they just won't be in WEC full season due to availability of space
