Dr. Wily Stage 1 (MM2) Fusion

- What if the most famous Wily stage theme to date, beloved and detested by many, made consistent appearances throughout the rest of the Mega Man classic series? That would've annoyed off a lot of fans, without a doubt, but it's an idea I was eager to explore, and in the process I strung together a grand total of 15 distinct arrangements, all made by me in Furnace and FamiTracker. It took a lot of time to brainstorm, draft, and polish every section of music, not to mention how long I spent focused on achieving near-perfect accuracy to each game's unique style. But it was all worth it, and I'm stoked to share with you all my love letter to this series (sorry, X fans, there's plenty of full-length covers out there for you to enjoy). See my pinned comment below for some honorable mentions of games that were considered but ultimately did not make the cut.
By the way, a large part of my inspiration stemmed from a MM9-styled cover by @marcine.mukuchi of this theme (I'll link it below). "Flash in the Dark" is an excellent homage to the most iconic Wily 1, so it only made sense for that track to serve as the basis for her arrangement. When I reached out asking for the MM10 samples used in her uploads, Marcine was not only kind enough to provide them, but also expressed excitement for the project's completion. Thank you again, Marcine, your support means the world to me!
I'd also like to give a shout-out to a few other awesome people:
@AndrewAmbrose, for his general support and knack for explaining things
@forple8930, for offering percussion used in the RMW3 section
@Plide, for helping me with the Game Gear section's noise channel
@infinite_sun_rays, for sending me the GBA instruments used in the MM&B section
... and @MeeowsMusic, for illustrating and editing together the thumbnail art. It turned out amazingly!
The footage in the background is from walkthrough videos by the following UA-cam channels: @MegaQuint, @gr3mxr642, @videogamephenomhd, @worldoflongplays, @Sliider36, and @Overhazard.

Sorry if you didn't see your favorite Mega Man game in this video. Here's the ones that were considered but eventually cut:
- the original Mega Man (its sound didn't lend well enough to the theme)
- Mega Man: Powered Up (I would've had to find each sample on my own)
- Mega Man 11 (I'm not experienced enough to recreate its synths)
- Mega Man: The Wily Wars (it's already in that game ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
And lastly, the various spinoffs (X, Battle Network, Zero, etc.) That would've opened up a whole new can of worms...
I assume 9 didnt make the cut for being too similar/the same as 10?
11 would probably be similar to Smash Bros tho. Or Just much more synth-eey
@@Annexialol Mega Man 9's would be just be the Mega Man 2 version wholesale
@@Annexialol MM9 was not considered because the project was inspired by an existing cover in that style by another channel. I've linked it in the description
It’s too bad you don’t have the shorts feature to show us why/how the original mega man failed to make the theme sound good
Sadly, the inner side of me want's to hear a fully remixes of each one.

I agree on the front of the MM10 one.
Greatest love letter to everyone who composed for the mega man series
I'm truly honored, thank you!
you even captured Mega Man World 2's ear bleeding music, as much as I hate MMW2's music I'll give you points for accuracy
How dare you. I listened to remixes and mods which lover the pitch, and all of them make the music sound worse.
The only ear bleeding Mega Man music is Heat Man and Ring Man.
@@genyakozlov1316How dare you. I listen to both Heat Man and both are Ring Man and both are bangers, especially on remixes. The only ear piercing song is Proto Man's whistle.

The Mega Man Dos remix followed up by World 2 was beautiful on the ears 🔥🔥🔥
That Mega Man 7 section NEEDS a full remix, it's sooo good
Agreed
I really like the change in scale during the end of the Game Gear section
Gotta have those wrong notes for accuracy!
That one first Game Gear part was so catchy.
Pretty solid, I must say.
I'd say my favorite ones would have to be those done in III (GB), 4, 6, 7, SNES &Bass, and 10's style.
Not sure why UA-cam decided to wait 2 whole months to recommend this to me, but hey it's some pretty cool stuff.
Thanks! And yeah, the algorithm works in mysterious ways.
This was an interesting idea and a few well executed takes on an iconic theme. Saw this posted in the OCR workshop and decided to listen. Nice job.
These are all great! :)
0:34 I wasn’t expecting both the SNES and GBA versions of Mega Man and Bass. You even got the WonderSwan sequel lol.
1:33 I played this weird little Game Gear game quite a few times, and can say that this is very accurate.
1:46 I got the cartridge for this one recently, and can say that it is also accurate. :)
2:30 Almost forgot about Mega Man II. It sounds just as high pitched as ever lol.
I got fucking sucker punched by the MM&B section cause I was going "Why not use the perfectly serviceable GBA logo instead of the JP one?" immediately followed by getting slammed with the GBA MM&B section
Iconic DOS. I'm a sucker for MM8, but MM5 and even Game Gear takes me back Sonic DX days of games collecting emblems
This made me realize how powerful Wily Stage 1 feels at slower tempos.
Ive seen this in the MMM server and still surprises me, good job you made here and keep the peak!!! 🔥🔥🔥

@@genyakozlov1316 I have an arrangement of the NES Metal Man Stage that I finished but haven't posted yet
I'm a Rockman World 2 fan too, in fact, from every Mega Man Gameboy I have ever played, this one is the easiest one to finish, and I mean, without saving states, cheats or anything. And even high pitched, the OST is really incredible, my most favorite soundtrack is Top Man.

My sadness was completely destroyed because of this soundfont fusion, that was very good.

Mega Man 5 section seems to have that frantic feel to it.
It used the Dark Man theme as a base, BPM included, so that’s probably why.

This is AWESOME! Also, the General MIDI and/or Sound Blaster and/or Adlib instruments you used for DOS Mega Man were EXACTLY as I remembered them :-p
I’ve got 3 things to say: 1) This was a great musical exercise and I just so happened to be thinking about doing this with Wily 1 from 7 2) The courage to do it in the style of World 2 and Game Gear and play to their flaws is commendable 3) How did you get the samples from CFTF?
Good question! What I did was record the audio channels one at a time in the Oswan emulator, turned each waveform into a useable wavetable using a Nyquist prompt in Audacity, and plugged those into the WonderSwan setting of Furnace. The percussion was sampled from my recordings of the noise channel, and the other channels' volume envelopes were recreated by ear as best as I could
@@levir.starsmusicCould I pay you a fair amount to have those samples? I’d likely mess something up even when following your workflow to a T.
@@limbreakrevo I could not take money from someone for resources I didn't spend a penny on.
