- In this video I talk about swapping a GL650 engine into a CX500 chassis. I show you the engine differences as well as some modifications required for the swap it self. I actually had a buddy just drop off a wrecked gl650 at my house a few years back he found in a junkyard lol. I've been waiting to use the engine since!
Brick House Builds just found a cx 650 motor today at a junkyard. Hopefully the swap will be manageable

I have just finished doing a CX500 cafe racer on my UA-cam channel and I'm going to upgrade the motor to a CX650
I have already seen the problem with the CX500 engine hanger and the carbies your engine hanger mod is very neat
The carbies I'm going to keep the 500 carbies and widen them out 20mm
The radiator you haven't showed what you did there
I'm thinking you went with the CX500 radiator and fitted the CX650 fan ?
After measuring the rad cores it seems the 500 is larger so I went with that. Murray of Murrays carbs says the end tanks on the 650s are bigger but I can't confirm. Im planning to run a more modern motorcycle fan but havent chosen one as of yet. Soon Ill have to get that sorted out though before I can do teardown.

I have a solution for your CX500 radiator I used a ZX6R fan and that works grate on my CX500

Looking at the tanks the top tank on the CX500 is larger
I think I will fit the CX650 radiator and fan . The hose should fit under the hanger cross tube
Must be a turbo lying about for that 650 engine, often saw them running about back in the day, you can fit them with no upgrade to the internals and it’d be a nice step in power 👍
Someday I'll do a turbo version! They would sound amazing
