For sure music lights up many specific areas of the brain, although I don't know their exact names off the top of my head, or exactly how they interact. They include everything from aural areas, emotions, language are only the beginning of the list. Muscle movement, cardiovascular - They interact with each other. Interesting note about how our brain waves align in a shared artistic experience. I have to share with you my experience at a Dead show many years ago... I was standing near the front of the stage with a friend in a venue that was holding roughly 9-10,000 people total. My friend and I were focused on each other, not the crowd, and suddenly from out of the blue, the people in the entire area in front of the stage all sat down on the floor at exactly the same time for absolutely no apparent reason. We're talking about 1200 people - all - at - the - same- time. Talk about aligned brainwaves. It was like a massive rush of energy that swept through the crowd. My friend and I were the only ones left standing, astonished. Really agree the arts should stay or be brought back into the schools. Children are truly being cut off from something important otherwise. I like the idea of partnering young scientists with artists. Usually, at least in the past, it's been the other way around. Great idea. Very good discussion. Thanks for sharing.
Consider that all mainstream musicians use autotune or pitch correction. Phony is the new real in the music industry. Take a look into this. ❤️ #notautotuned #notpitchcorrected Ruins good singers, and embarrasses the rest.
Interesting to hear 1). you played piano for 10 years, as did I. I haven't taken time to play anymore, but used to enjoy improv. 2). The speaker mentioned that hearing is the last sense to go when people pass away. I'll be sure to use this nugget when the time comes sadly.
I loved this interview.. Renée Fleming is the pinnacle of high art and a great humanitarian.
This was so interesting. I'm reading this book and love it and I love Renee too. What an amazing human being.
Renee Fleming 💕 💜 and music 💕💜

A fantastic piece of class!
Alive Inside ia amazing! I tell everyone about it.
I was expecting how music effects people in general, at all ages…..not simply one person’s experience.

Nobody gives a shit.
I really don’t think Renee should be talking about this topic because she is not a scientist.
