This is the best compilation to listen to while walking in the foggy winter night. Early Ulver mastered the balance between Black and Folk Metal. As I understand it, Carl-Michael Eide from Ved Buens Ende is playing drums on the Vargnatt demo. It sounds experimental and otherwordly, like the first seeds being sown for the likes of VBE, given that Vargnatt came out one year before the "Those Who Caress the Pale" demo and two years before VBE's first and only album, "Written in Waters".
