I agree with every one except the 1070. It's not jumpy at all if you know how to adjust the modulation on the valve. I grew up on the 30 series and 70 series Case tractors and I own a bunch of the that are all good mules. I own a 970, a 1070, a 1370, a 2290 and my pride and joy, an 1175. Good old gear grinder. Those old Cases were a pulling SOB! Big low rpm engines that generated plenty of torque and HP. The powershift wouldn't hold up. Breaks bolts on the clutch baskets. There was an upgrade for this. I know because I have rebuilt quite a few myself. It's a tear down, but worth it. I farm myself with these old Case tractors still today and I use to work on them for a living also. I'm in my 50's now and I still love the sound of that 1370 or even the 1175 pulling 6 20's rolling dirt in the spring not even grunting.

Pretty accurate on the 2+2, the Super 70 series was beefed up quite a bit. I'll take exception to the 1070 case, if it was rough it would have been an adjustment on the power shift retard screws, not a perfect tractor by any means but many are still in service today, it too was the result of more horsepower in front of a basically 930/1030 transmission/final drive. The reliability of the 190 was somewhat improved with the series 3 models, but they just overpowered the transmissions and final drives somewhat like the D19 before it.

I'll, admit, the case 1070 was jumpy but I've been riding on them since I was young, my grandpas got 3 and me and him are on the way to more

My best friends family bought a 1070 new Main field tractor for years then to loader duty Don't recall any issues and they were dairy farmers Only thing I didn't like was the automatic down shift when you pushed the clutch in

I can't disagree. The 6000 was also known for bad wrist pins. After the 6000 debacle Ford was again making good tractors but in the end quit the business. The 190XT's early models were known for tearing out rear ends. Story is they had to upgrade the rear ends several times in order to correct the problem Only the final series seemed to solve the problem. 1010's and 2010 were wasted money and the 2+2 helped put IH out of business.

Yeah, pretty much spot on. They all under estimated the needed over build necessary in the real world of use. The 2+2, it was the under built hinge in the middle. With all the front overhanging weight, it was a no brainer it would fail. The Allis one nintey, the entire tractor was too light to handle the horsepower. They just put a big engine in a small tractor chassis. They sold like hotcakes at first. But when spring tillage hit, the dealers couldn't fix them fast enough! From a drivers point, they were great in comfort. Not only did the trans fail, the hydraulics were always failing. The 3 pt hitch was only held on by a few light cap screws and would often break off. Ford made the same mistake, too light of trans and rear end for the power.

Thank you great comment! I don’t want to just hate on these Tractors, that’s why I also added in the fact that they were used wrongly

In my area we had a pretty good Case dealership so they were popular, unfortunatly every 70 or 90 series I used was jerky ,plus quite a few went in the shop for powershift failure. The 190 xt wasn't the only AC with tranny problems, that went all the way back to the WD. but they were pretty much ok i not used hard.

The 2000 series had power shift problems in the ones that had it but most do.

Probably sould add Case 1070 12 speed partial power shift can have more issues than an old 8 speed transmission which were fine.
