      >Nanjing Massacre
Most non-Japanese also have a shallow knowledge of Nanking, like "Yeah I know the Japanese army mercilessly killed over 300,000 people in Nanking", which they got from social media. There is no primary source for the 300,000 deaths in the first place, and this claim is based on a novel written by Iris Chan. Nanking massacre was nothing more than warfare where the Japanese army slaughtered the KMT army including guerrillas, with acceptable civilian casualties. Kuomintang soldiers took off their military uniforms and pretended to be civilians to carry out terrorist attacks against Japanese troops in Nanjing and other parts of China. It was forbidden by international law at the time for military personnel to remove their uniforms and engage in guerrilla activities. This is similar situation of afghan war. In Afghanistan, Taliban soldiers frequently pretend to be civilians and carry out terrorist attacks against U.S. soldiers, and U.S. soldiers execute Taliban soldiers without mercy. A lot of r*pe and massacre was done even by Chinese soldiers bythemself before japanese entered Nanking and this was officially recorded by western survey of at that age and they were replaceing it to japan. Mr. Espy, the U.S. Deputy Consulate General of Nanjing, said in a document submitted to the Tokyo Tribunal: "One thing to note here is that the Chinese soldiers themselves plundered before entering the Japanese army. During the last few days, Chinese soldiers were undoubtedly assaulting and looting people and property. In the rush of Chinese soldiers to take off their military uniforms and change into ordinary civilian clothes, various incidents occurred, and some of them were killed to peel off their clothes ." (AI = p. 290-1). And the famous photo of a Japanese soldier bayoneting a child has been identified as being taken from a scene in the movie "Hong kong 1941" If you are curious, buy DVD and find out for yourself. Besides this, many of the photos purported to be evidence of the Nanking Massacre have already been debunked, and most of them have nothing to do with Nanking. And people always mention John Rabe when they talk about Nanking but all he did was report the 20,000 women graped rumor he had heard from WASP missionaries in the area. He would later account in his own biography before his death that he saw no more than two instances of the crime I mentioned. Again, 20,000 is a made up figure. His testimony was full of inconsistencies and unreliable that not a single one of his statements was even used in the postwar trials. Also, people think that the Japanese government denies the existence of the Nanking Massacre, but in fact it is not true. The current position of the Japanese government is that a battle with the Kuomintang took place in Nanking, and that an unspecified number of people were killed in the process. And that the figure of 300,000 victims should be debated. As I mentioned earlier, the only evidence for the 300,000 casualties is Iris Chan's novel, but thanks to CCP, this has been taken as historical fact all over the world and people like me are treated as revisionists just because we disagree with this. As for Nanjing, we can't have a constructive discussion at all.

I have a true story I personally am an Indonesian who is ethnically Chinese. Before 1945, precisely in Borneo, Kalimantan, Indonesia was colonized by Japan and the Japanese army prioritized killing ethnic Chinese who had a lot of wealth. My grandfather's father was also a victim because Japan was afraid that our ethnic Chinese would send money to the Chinese government. but times have changed china has become a world giant that dares to challenge america i want to ask you which asian country dares to challenge the united states????? only china it's up to you japanese if you say i was brainwashed by the pkc but what is clear is history records even in indonesia that japan colonized indonesia cruelly i personally really hate japan and i think this hatred could trigger a war in the future currently japan is in a birth crisis and Japan often experiences natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis and I see that Okinawa seems to be controlled by America. Before and during WW2, Japan was the only Asian country dare to challenge the West (British, Australian, French, Dutch and American colonialists in Asia). As a Chinese, I appreciate the honest evaluation in this video. I have traveled to around 50 countries, initially with my father and later on my own as a backpacker. The people I met were all incredibly warm and kind. That was over a decade ago when I first went abroad, amazed by the development and excitement of the outside world, and when I returned to China, I felt that it was quite behind. Ten years later, I revisited some of those countries, and when I returned to China again, I was surprised to find that China had become more advanced compared to those countries. This is a fascinating shift in mindset.
I used to love Japanese manga in my childhood, but now I read only Chinese comics. I used to play games from the US, Japan, and Taiwan, but now I play Genshin Impact, Arena of Valor, and Wukong. I used to like Korean obba, but now my tooooooop idols are Xiao Zhan😍 (actor) and Wang Shun🤩 (swimmer). My parents used to drive German cars, but now we have two Chinese electric vehicles.
I hope people won’t view present-day China through the lens of decades ago. I’ve been to Japan many times, and the ordinary people of Japan are truly kind. When Japanese people come to China, all Chinese people will also show them friendliness.

As well the same unit conducted chemical and biological warfare. All members of Unit 731 who were captured by the US were protected and released in exchange for their knowledge and data. This evil knowledge formed the basis of the US army's infamous Fort Detrick outside of Maryland.

Japan and Britain share dark chapters in their histories, which some may prefer future generations to forget by omitting them from school curricula. While these events are in the past, it is morally wrong to hide them in the hope that they will be erased from memory. The war crimes, including genocide and the many acts of brutality committed during these times, should be taught as important historical lessons. Bringing these sensitive topics to light is not something to be ashamed of; rather, it is more shameful to conceal the truth. By teaching new generations about these events, we can emphasize that conflicts and differences can be overcome for the greater good. Don't get me wrong about the USA. The USA is just as bad in the way they treated Native Americans and claimed the land as if it were theirs.
By the way, it is very interesting to see many interviewers comment on the way Japanese media portrays China. It sounds like the media are extremely biased and only talk and show the bad of China. I'm not saying China is wrong or right. But when the media consistently feeds people bad of other races/countries, it sends the wrong message.

You're not really saying anything constructive in the above. Most nations have "dark chapters" in their histories. Did you know the Anglo-Saxons (various different kingdoms armies that is) massacred the Celts/Britons of the time when invading? Why do you not include that in "history that needs to be taught" but allude (presumably) to some form of Colonialism only which I'm sure you're doing?
And in fact in the UK the media bombards the younger generation with guilt-tripping of the British Empire and slavery when at the time in history The British were some of the first to choose to remove slavery or equivalent times were far less barbaric than contempories eg the Barbers. Yet you are not an advocate that it's more positive to teach all the inventions and civilization contributions that the British also bequeathed to the world? Why is that exactly?
As for Japan, they did also do atrocities and equally had atrocities done to them eg 2 Nuclear bombs. How they handle that history is probably their own business and not your grand opinion to dictate to. Do note since WWII, Japan has become pacifist and did not have a standing army until recently and has been heavily anti-WMD etc.
In effect your statement above is "cherry-picking" to absurdity. It's not helpful as it offers no context which demonstrates nuance instead of passive aggressive detracting via the veil of virtue-signalling which is all the rage on social media probably from agent provacateurs on the make!

Absolutely right. I am Singaporean and I have lived in China for some years and I also return to China yearly on short term trips. People in China lack in some social manners such as speak loudly, spitting and jump queue (but they don’t fight. People just get used to it) but these are people mainly from rural areas especially the middle age and elderly. Young people don’t do that (check out UA-cam videos on how the western people describe Chinese children are disciplined, courteous, respectful to teachers unlike in the west where children are wild, naughty, disrespectful to teachers). In these aspects Japan is better than China but in future it will be about the same as younger generations grow older. In terms of hospitality (include being friendly and helpful) and being inclusive to foreigners, China beats Japan by big margin. Chinese is so patient and would help foreigners all the way to solve their problems such as finding the hotel, buying train ticket (this was actually commented by a German vlogger Ken when he first arrived in China and made a comparison between Chinese and Japanese). Chinese also love to invite foreigners for dinner at restaurant or their house. In customer service at hotel/retailers, my feeling is Japanese are better than Chinese (do note competition is very stiff in China and they for sure is improving continuously). For the Chinese who left their parent’s home to work in cities or overseas, they have this mentality that they must return home visit their parents at least once per year. The Japanese don’t think this way. The Chinese have tendency to help each other especially in the community where they live while most of the Japanese keep to themselves. Lastly, the militarism political party of Japan may harbour the idea of invading other countries again (like they did in ww2), China on their hand is a peaceful country which will only counter attack if it’s territories are infringed. Lastly I want to say Japanese (and the western people) more or less (I would say >90%)have been brainwashed by their media which are negative about China.

Shocking? You ask people of any country the same types of questions and they will be equally ignorant of their history, this is not unique to Japan despite what many think. And personally, I don't think the people of China have any reason to hold animosities towards Japan to the degree they have been for the past many decades. I'm not justifying Japan's past atrocious actions, and learning the past is important for everyone, but that doesn't excuse pure racial hatred and violence towards Japanese from Chinese citizens. In fact the government of China has done its part to continually preach hatred towards all things Japan, more so in the past few decades than even in the 70's and 80's when the Chinese government embraced Japan and invited several large corporations to set up shop in China. It does get supremely annoying when every ignorant action by Chinese citizens is conveniently explained away with "Japan's past atrocities" excuse, like when one Chinese cosplayer was harassed in China for wearing a kimono.
And it's funny that the government of China indoctrinates its citizens on how they should view Japan, yet China is one of the biggest visitor groups to Japan as they value luxury Japanese goods. And let's not compare China's education system as compared to Japan. Despite what many think, it is not universal that all Japanese schools adhere to the same learning materials and methods, thus it is not true that every school does not teach of Japan's wartime misdeeds. Some versions of these textbooks do in fact mention Japan's past wartime actions, though I agree it is not as in depth as it should be.

I'm Japanese and my grandparents lived in China in the 70's and they said that the Chinese people were not so anti-Japanese back then. My grandmother used to wear a kimono every week to introduce Japanese culture to the Chinese people, and she never had any issues, but in today's China, even wearing a kimono is taboo. It is interesting to note that in the 70's, there were many Chinese who experienced the second Sino-Japanese war, but now the Chinese who did not experience the war seem to be more anti-Japanese. Yasukuni Shrine has been graffitied twice this year by Chinese zoomers, but this has never happened before. I don't deny that Japan has done terrible things in the past, but I feel that the anti-Japanese education and social media in China have increased anti-Japanese sentiment. I saw a video of an old Chinese woman who experienced the Second Sino-Japanese War being interviewed by a Chinese tiktoker about her wartime experiences, and she said that she had never seen or experienced anything terrible done to her by Japanese soldiers during the war, but rather that the KMT and Communist soldiers had oppressed the Chinese people. A bunch of Chinese went crazy slandering her and saying she made it up. I even think that today's Chinese youth resent Japan more than the Chinese who experienced the war.

I am Singaporean and I have lived in China for some years (also visited Japan 7 times) and I also return to China yearly on short term trips. People in China lack in some social manners such as speak loudly, spitting and jump queue (but they don’t fight. People just get used to it) but these are people mainly from rural areas especially the upper and middle age and elderly. Lastly, the militarism political party of Japan may harbour the idea of invading other countries again (like they did in ww2), China on their hand is a peaceful country which will only counter attack if her territories are infringed. Lastly I want to say Japanese (and the western people) more or less (I would say >90%)have been brainwashed by their media which are negative about China; also sometimes I feel some of the Japanese social manners are kind of robotic (like bowing; repeatedly say thank you) with no feelings to it and their people hide their feelings (I would use the word ‘心机‘ to describe Japanese) unlike the Chinese who are genuine and being honest to you about their feelings.

If anything, being a Singaporean makes your opinion less valid with all the censorship and regulations. Just like in China, your people can't even criticize your government so of course everything you read or view is full of lies (if it wasn't, they would not need to censor the true).

for those Japanese out there who didn't know about its past or pretend not to know :
The estimated number of people killed by Japanese troops varies. R. J. Rummel, a professor of political science at the University of Hawaii, estimates that between 1937 and 1945, the Japanese military murdered from nearly three to over ten million people, most likely six million Chinese, Indians, Koreans, Malays, Indonesians, Filipinos and Indochinese, among others, including European, American and Australian prisoners of war. According to Rummel, "This democide [i.e., death by government] was due to a morally bankrupt political and military strategy, military expediency and custom, and national culture."[82] According to Rummel, in China alone, from 1937 to 1945, approximately 3.9 million Chinese were killed, mostly civilians, as a direct result of the Japanese operations and a total of 10.2 million Chinese were killed in the course of the war.[83] According to the British historian M. R. D. Foot, civilian deaths were between 10 million and 20 million.[84] British historian Mark Felton claims that up to 30 million people were killed, most of them civilians.:[

I visit Japan quite often (every year for the past three years and every few years before that) and the last time the Japanese behavior against tourists especially Asians who they all assume are from Mainland China, was baaad. Doesn't matter if you were born in the West or Hong Kong or Taiwan or Singapore or Malaysia or Vietnam or Thai. The Japanese were loudly and angrily criticizing and/or laughing at them like bullies.
Compared to other years, the only major difference I can think of is the worsening economy is stressing Japanese, more tourists come because of the weak yen is stressing Japanese, along with all their other social problems, and they (all ages) vent their anger onto tourists, if not Chinese then Asian then anyone else. They say it's because manners but every country is going to have different manners compared to Japan and most do behave well. The nail that sticks out gets hammered in Japan and this has never been more true.
Personally I wouldn't visit the major tourist areas in Japan until the yen improves or if before that then the less-traveled areas.

I like Chinese people and Chinese tech. I have some criticism of their top-down style of government. Based on what I've heard politicians are accountable to other politicians above them rathen than to the people they're governing. So it incentives local government to cover up issues from the central government. For example you could have a famine in one region being covered up while another has a surplus of food but if governors are too scared to ask for help for fear of getting in trouble for let things get to that point then nothing gets solved. Sadly it's very difficult to criticize this sort of thing. I have no hate but you can't fix problems of you don't talk about them.

There's also A LOT of protests to be honest, but the western media doesn't show them because It actually goes agaisnt your impression about the freedom of speech in China.
      2. They take results very serious, and having obvious cases of corruption could end you up with DEATH PENALTY; most of them end up with a huge fine + many years in the cell tho, but the central government in Beijing don't shy away about who they need to punish, be a military general or a famous millionaire.

I liked a lot of the things that the guy at 14:15 said, but one thing that I think is weird is that when the Japanese government makes some kind of mistake, they will sometimes go on television, very publicly and directly admit their wrongdoing, ask the Japanese people for forgiveness, and humbly bow. I have really deeply respected that. But considering the millions of Chinese citizens the Japanese raped, murdered, and performed human experiments on exactly like the Nazis did, does this guy really believe that the Japanese government has done enough to allow the Chinese people to just forget about what Japan did to them and to move on? Is that realistic?

    • @GlobalRevolution4All
      @GlobalRevolution4All 2 місяці тому +7

And even though I do think he was reasonable and he made some good points, he still said things like, “for various reasons some people became victims.” The reasons were that his government sent a bunch of soldiers to China and they raped and murdered millions and millions of people and performed cruel human experiments on many others. That’s the reason.
It wasn’t just Japan peacefully colonized other lands. They raped, murdered, and tortured. And there’s no good reason to do that. And I think that until particularly their government is willing to be honest about what they did and humbly ask for forgiveness, of course there likely will not be good feelings and truly peaceful relations between the two countries.
And I think that’s a shame. Because these videos have actually done a lot to give me a much more positive view of Japanese people. I have enjoyed them. But human beings, for better or worse, can not build healthy relationships until past crimes have truly been acknowledged and sincerely apologized for. If somebody raped, murdered, and tortured your family, would you think it would be normal to have a friendly relationship with the killer if you didn’t really feel like they were genuinely sorry for what they had done? I really don’t think so.

I'm Chinese and I have mixed feelings about Japan. On the one hand this country has a lot of positive sides such as cars, techs, animes, etc. But on the other hand I don't like the way how this country deals with its past. And also I feel that Japanese don't really understand Chinese culture and history, like for instance they really like the Three Kingdoms or Sangoku for some reason, but in reality this period in Chinese history was a period of chaos and destruction and there's nothing to brag about it. And moreover please stop making random claims like Yayoi originated from the Yangtse region, according to recent genetic tests (Cooke et al. 2021) the Yayoi were a mixture of native Jomon with incoming Tungus people from the Amur or the West Liao River region of Manchuria and had nothing to do with Central or South China. The southern parts of China were the homeland of Austro-Tai peoples and had nothing to do with Japonic.

And regarding the fact that someone mentioned Chinese people never line up in a queue while waiting for the bus, I admit this is largely true, however for the younger generations things are changing and more and more are starting to line up when waiting for buses or subways. And I think it also depends on the region and the time of the day, if you're in a big Chinese metropolis in the morning rush hour, then it's understandable that some people are in a hurry and don't want to line up so as to not miss the train or bus. I'm not saying it's the right thing to do but it's understandable.

Does it really matter when the country of China threatens Japan every day by conducting drills and sending missiles into it's EEZ. By China invading Taiwan, it must strike Japanese and US bases in Japan and that would also kill innocent Japanese people themselves. China would also kill Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, Australian and Filipino people if Japan's military wasn't so strong. It sounds very hypocritical especially when Japan is by leaps and bounds the country that post WW2 has done the most without any question to help Asia be more prosperous and safe and China itself has turned into Imperial Japan itself in XI Jinping's ambitions. Also, how many Chinese know of what China did to Cambodia, Vietnam, Korea, Taiwan. Uighurs, Afghanistan and how it helps kill Ukranians and lets North Korea exist??
Politics doesn't matter to a regular person who just lives his regular day to day life and as people who haven't done anything wrong they don't need to know EVERYTHING. History is a terrible thing for Chinese people to mention to a Japanese person when China threatens to kill Taiwanese and Japanese people everyday and would do both in a heartbeat if it was strong enough.

Pretty much near-none. Most Japanese would position Japan as the victims of war. They look at China as sore losers who didn't westernize and militarize fast/early enough and are only good at complaining and leeching off of Japan's modern day generosity. And they were not properly educated on their war crimes, if at all. The justification being that every side in the war has had committed war crime to some degree, and that China's numbers of Japan are exaggerated and fake, "fake and ghey".
In China you can find several WWII museums and memorials. One of the most notorious being the Unit 731 museum in Harbin.

      The Japanese are well taught
Oxford University has been awarded the 2019 World Cup in the United States, China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
I was researching history textbooks from various countries, I think it was around 2013 or something like that.
As a result, Chinese history textbooks are propaganda.
      Korean history textbooks are fantasy
Taiwan's history textbooks are generally written objectively and fairly.
And... the results showed that Japanese history textbooks were the ones that contained the most objective facts.
Ironically, it is common in the world for people to express their opinions without hesitation if they have something they want to say, but in Japan, perhaps because we are an island nation, we have a culture that values refraining from expressing ourselves, so we often do not respond to many of the opinions of neighboring countries.

News media plays a great role in projecting the images of a country. The ordinary people often doesn't do fact checks on the news and take it as is.
On the other hand, Chinese people generally have a negative impression of Japan due to the atrocities Japan committed in WWII to China and her Asian neighbours. Japan never acknowledged there were comfort women, forced labour, Nanjing Massacre. Above all, Japan never apologized for her war crimes and paid compensation for the victims.
In contrast, Germany apologized for her war crimes in WWII and paid compensation to the victims.

What you say is wrong. Japan was tried in the Far East Military Tribunal by the Allied Powers (US, UK, Netherlands, Republic of China; Chiang Kai-shek). The issue of World War II has been resolved by apologizing to the countries involved and paying reparations. Communist China was a country that was created after World War II.Therefore, Communist China and Japan did not go to war, but Japan and Communist China concluded a peace treaty, and Japan apologized and provided ODA, which is equivalent to reparations. Japan provided aid to communist China, which was essentially reparations. Japan did not go to war with communist China, but it did provide reparations and an apology.

It is unfortunate that the Japanese military police brutally assaulted the people of Hong Kong. However, in post-war trials, Japanese military personnel were tried as war criminals. We must admit that the Japanese military caused great suffering to the people of Hong Kong. What I want to say is that war brings such tragedies, and aren't the countries that criticize Japan currently fighting wars and invading other countries? Specifically, the so-called permanent members of the United Nations, the United States, Russia, China, and the United Kingdom, are divided into liberal and communist groups and have continued proxy wars in various places to this day.
