I live in China and regularly travel to Japan. I think from my generation onwards (90s plus) we have a positive impression of Japan and vice versa. I have Japanese friends and it is great. The older generations however are more bitter as many had relatives in their living memory that were brutally killed under Imperial Japan.

Interesting topic. I am the hairy werewolf type guy. Very hairy all over. My wife is Japanese and never complained about my hair. It was more fun for her always playing with my arm hairs when we were dating. I get why many women don't like it but I'm not removing my hair just because many women don't like it.
