Truth be told he was out of it and didn’t realize the count was where it was until it was too late. That’s my bet.
The ref started his count at 8 secs, he was up by the 10th sec. Ryan ran and fought like Mayweather didn't want to go toe to toe.
I missed the count too, could've sworn it started at 6 or 7....
Even if the ref allowed him to continue that GOOD NIGHT LIGHTS OUT HIGHLIGHT REEL WAS SECONDS AWAY FROM COMING. If there’s one thing about Ryan is when he smells blood he attacks

He took pretty much every shot. I was surprised that that was the shot that started the downfall. I think he got a little too comfortable thinking he could take Ryan’s shots. That guy is a true warrior.
All those shots broke him down, finally in the 8th round. One of those shots did its job and hurt him

Looking at the knockout highlights of Duarte's previous fights, this guy has relentless Canelo-like power and aggressiveness. The only thing he's missing is exposure I think they tried to introduce him to the boxing community as the next Canelo Alvatez via this fight with Ryan Garcia, a low risk fight against a high profile non-chamion boxer. Unfortunately, the result didn't go in his favor.

Two Oscar's are sad tonight.
One huge flaw I saw in his previous fights before this one is he had a weak/lazy defensive guard. He'd drope his left hand low alot especially when he throws his lunging left hooks. But in this fight he really fixed that and you didnt really ser that at all, his guard for the most part was really solid! Which is why he was able to tank much of Ryans onslaughts. He did a lot better than i thought, and had a good chance against Ryan. If ryan continued to fight like his old self and didnt get on his bicycle this guy wouldve probably land some deciscive blows.
