Can this be a series please.. not just to gospelize certain songs but it helped me look at it in a different way and how to add that flare to basic chord progressions without overpowering the song and fully changing the genre.. JUST AN AMAZING TUTORIAL!

I always play songs in their original key. That’s the best way to get fluent in all keys.

His chords are nice. But the thing that really makes the difference in his playing, and the playing of other UA-cam gospel tutors is the almost constant movement. I'm not talking about passing chords. If you add a lot of 9s, like he did, yes the chords will sound nice. But as beginners, what you're recognizing and what they never teach is that even if they're using triads, their fingers are making little additional movements. An arpeggio or broken chord here or there. They're confident musicians. So, yes they'll play a Cadd9 block chord and then throw in a quick and smooth broken Cadd9 chord or something else, perhaps in a different inversion. So, when they do these little quick tutorials, you hear, "use these chords, use these progressions, it'll sound great." But then you do it and think, "hey, I still sound nothing like this guy." It's what he isn't teaching that makes the difference. And this guy is a great teacher. I think they get so used to playing that they no longer pay attention to the little details they add any more. Some will admit, they have no idea what they played...except the chords. But they're adding a little rhythm, they're adding some arpeggios and broken chords. A fill here or there, etc...and a huge toolkit amassed over years that now gives them a cushion of confidence.

If I were to explain everything I do in a given video, it would be 3-4 hours long and you still wouldn’t be able to sound the way I do. Yes, you’re correct, there are a lot of other elements going on that is not mentioned in the video. That is because one cannot learn everything at once - that causes confusion and isn’t the best way to learn. I try to focus on one concept in my videos. There are tons of other videos where a focus on the other elements you mentioned much as add9, rhythms, arpeggios and embellishments.
The problem with students who want to learn exclusively from UA-cam videos is that they want to learn everything in a single video - quick success. Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. 👍🏽

Sir. You were too fast 😢. Try to learn all the chords hasn't been easy.
