The SNKL23 is not "that" hard to get recently but if you're looking to get both the SNKL23 and SNK809, then get the one that appeals to you the most first.

The problem with SNK "L" case design is that lugs are longer than other models of SNK series. Lug-to-lug distance is quite substantial. As a result "L" variant is not suitable for straps, since the gup between case and strap ends is huge. Very unfortunate. Though this design is favorable for using steel bracelets, since it provides more visually pleasing "real estate " for watch itself.
Having the same problem here and I got a mid to high end leather strap when I was in the airport since there's only cheep genuine leather straps in the market

There are several SNKL models, for example SNKL45 is the blue sunburst dial and SNKL41 is the white dial, SNKL15 is the silver/white dial with the same stripes as the 23. There are many more, you can google them

Ive bought mine for the price of SNK809 and pretty satisfied with it. Bracelet is a nightmare on this one, but it looks very good on leather strap!
