I was contemplating a nice gift for my neighbor who cleans gutters for me. I have some blocks of claro walnut that would make a nice lidded box. Seems a bit time consuming but worthwhile. I'm glad that you found that wood, kept it natural as it is elegant.
I’ve made many of these over the years and I love making them. Every different type of wood yields another super neat piece. Really enjoy videos like these.
It's Friday morning, should be another episode of As Wood Turns. Yep here it is. And you are turning boxes. I love boxes almost as much as I love segmented bowls. This one is a real winner. A beautiful piece of elm . Thanks for not filling the eyes. The eyes and figure stand alone. Interesting texture on the lid. I just this morning was thinking about getting some walnut oil. And Woodcraft just announced free shipping. That did it: ordered. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and continue to stay safe.🙂🙂
nice work on the box, beautiful piece of wood also. Great to visit with you at the Oregon Woodturning Symposium. Thanks Alan. Oh, and thanks for the reminder of the Christmas Ornament Challenge - it will be here before we know it.
Check out my video from 2019 DIY Triple Wire Woodburner For Woodturning ua-cam.com/video/8GDZMFgWA8E/v-deo.html The wire came from a guitar shop's scrap bin. Alan

Could you provide more information on your texturing tool, please.
A bit that has chain saw teeth. Several dealers sell them

That is a beautiful little box, Alan. Was finding that blank like finding a forgotten $20 bill in you pants?
