- This is something I have wanted to try for a while. However, the conditions need to be just right for everything to work out. Low tide, low swell, and low wind for an entire day. Finally got everything to line up and it payed off big time!!!!

Adam, you are a great fisherman. I love how you took a simple idea -pokepoled eels for lingcod bait and went out and executed it to perfection. Keep up the amazing run.
So good to see you putting fish back and your concern for staying in limits wish you the best of luck ☺️
I love when you try new things. I know its going to be good when the video starts with “hey guys I’m going to try something I’ve never done before” keep it coming
Not only are you a good fisherman but you are also a good film maker and commentator, making your films interesting and exciting. Congratulations!
That was amazing bro, great ling's. Every time I watch you fisherman's life and outdoor chef I have the uncontrollable urge to go out and fish.
I appreciate that!!!
@@DieHardFishing Same here man Santa Cruz in ehr house
Because it’s easy to out fish all of them lol!
Was awesome doing some fishing together! I'm glad them eels worked out! First drop, too!
Thanks for all the help bro! And for the music too!!!!
What did you have on the end of the line to catch those eels?
John Wyman squid. It stays on the hook well and you can reuse it multiple times for multiple fish
@@coreyjbeats1357 Great! Thank you for the quick reply.
Really solid work. No bait is ever too big for Lings!!!!
I used to fish like that in a 16' wooden skiff with a small outboard and felt like i really needed a bigger boat. Can't quite rap my mind around how many holy hells would have to freeze over before I would do it in a kayak!
Hey, I just found your channel! I grew up in Sonoma County and commercial salmon fished with my grandfather for 12 years out of Bodega bay. Hearing the fog horn took me back! I loved pike poling as a kid and later as an adult! Monkey Faced Eels are great eating!
Kudos DH! Well produced and edited video. Thanks for not cluttering it up with a bunch of loud and obnoxious music. Tight lines amigo...
11:15 he said "I'll bonk him" after talking about how beautiful the fish was
I like to roll the eel in the dry beach sand so I can handle them easier.. great job catching these!
Watching this video, it blows me away that I haven't seen other youtubers (Fishermans life, Outdoor chef life, Philosophy D, Etc.) try this... Smart thinking doggy! Well deserved monsters!
Seeing that 36" ling made me think that perhaps we should be voluntarily establishing a max size too- the rationale being those very large fish are the best breeding stock as well as they tend to be like you said more beat up, and also have more parasites so less appealing for the table. I'm gonna go for the 22" to 30" size class for keepers and let the very big fish go in the hopes they provide the best chance for more fish in the future.
I don't know what this guy does with all this fish. He literally keeps almost everything he catches!
@J G risk black market fish money for youtube money?! Bad play...
let it be.. that's his record catch.
@@Henfishitydog don't hate man.
@J G definitely a joke.
I enjoy your videos very much as others do. I want to suggest that everyone make every effort to have the proper safety gear on as you do. The time you had a boat hit you is example that a bad situation could get 10 times worse without florescent flag, vest, whistle, radio, flare, and even wet suit in cooler waters. Everyone's safety is paramount. Great videos!
"Corey is gonna show me how to do it"
>proceeds to completely show up corey at his own game haha love it!
Nice Lings. I caught one last week. Same size, but only 18 pounds, skinny on big black rockfish. Great video Adam.
Nice fish!!!
This guy’s prep-work is phenomenal. Everything is where it needs to be. Also, the positions of his cameras are perfect. Nice job, dude. Wish I could taste some of those Lings...
Can you show how you "bonk" and bleed out your catch?
Come fish So Cal bro! I wanna see you catch a big Yellowtail at La Jolla
Dude, I would love to do that!!!!!
@@DieHardFishing ill see u here man-Jonah G
Got blown off the water with the wind and friggin GRASS at Berkeley today... The grass was ridiculous all over the flats! Went all the way around the old pier and the same! 🤕 Same yaks as yours. Those are BADASS! Keep on keepin on Adam!!!
Great video man i been waching your vids over and over again for couple year doing great job
Ling Cod, I remember eating at a place in Half Moon Bay, called Barbara's Fish Trap, the fish sandwiches, I'd move to Cali just for that.
You rock as a fisherman I truly enjoy you channel. I’ve done the Polk Poling before they are good to eat also. But I would not trade a Ling for one. Tight lines.
You should do a catch and cook with the eels. I caught a 5lb eel a few years ago and it was delicious.
Outdoor Chef Life did a good one.
ua-cam.com/video/c_TgxEqYfTo/v-deo.html
How do you prepare it, always has a weird taste to me
Alex Jetter: To be honest I don’t fully remember. I only did it once just to see what it was like and it was several years ago. I think I skinned it like a catfish and than cut it into steaks and fried it with a mix of salt pepper and flour.
I used to catch lots as a kid. Even set out eel pots to catch them. You skin them and chunk them up. Fry them in a pan with a little oil and salt. That’s all my grandfather used and that’s all I used and they were delicious! It’s the flavor of the eel that’s the showcase! They do squirm in the pan though...lol! Don’t worry, they’re not still alive...
Awesome inning man! 👌🏽I'm gonna try this eel for bait hopefully it'll work here in south africa. Thank you for the great videos.
I’ll be out there on the salt soon still gearing up lol
Your fishing was very good, your fishing equipment is amazing, congratulations on catching beautiful fish.👍
I think I'd want a bit bigger boat to fish for those critters. Nice stringer. A big Ling. Good eatin.
"Ahh, feels good to get a fish!"
Then proceeds to get the crap slapped out of him!
Great catch way to go!!
You want lingcod.. I don't care where you are. You pin on an 18" octopus on like a 7/O hook and drop it to the bottom. If they are there you will know! HOLD ON!
AMEN
Fact
What kind of bait were you using to catch the eels
Probably squid
a smaller eel
Would be really interesting to see underwater footage using eel as bait.
One of the best vids I’ve seen! Good envy! Thank you for sharing your experience!
BADA BING BADA BOOOOM!
Dude you Rock!! Monster fish😎 Thanks for sharing, fish on
New to this channel, very nice videos i watch lot of gulf and Atlantic fishing videos but loving the Pacific, Thank you sir.
Was talking to my friends about using eels for live bait a while ago... Good to see this happen
It’s a great idea, they are very hardy fish and will last a long time.
I gotta try this bait next time. It was nice seeing you out there. Fish on!!! Too bad it was a shaker. Still fun though. Hope to see you around
Thanks for sharing. Great day for you!
Good game plan, and you stuck with it. Nice!
“Ooooh thats a dinosaur right there” 🤣
Have sharks or seals ever taken the catch from your stringer?
My friend lost a finger to an eel in some rocks like that in Miami, FL. Gave me nerves seeing you handle them! Cool video
How deep where you fishing for those cod..
Good stuff. Congrats. Love the music, also!
Here in Massachusetts I fish the same way for monster stripers. I three way live eels with 4-8 oz of weight. Usually a crank off the bottom and drift around bridges at night. Deadly!
Adam- I dig the catch small eels to get big fish. Keep it up!
I went 60 miles from Houston today to Freeport Tx and the water/surf was extremely rough.
No luck, except two Hardheads!
Maybe next weekend it will be better!
Congrats om the Big success, love the vids and keep doing what you love. Much love from Norway brother
Could you do a video or post what equipment/kayak setup you use.
A safety recommendation: Get a blaze orange beanie. I know you already have an orange vest and flag, but more orange -- and more up high -- is safer. Often boaters are multitasking and not really watching where they're going. Be as visible has humanly possible.
Great content here. Thank you. Ill definitely keep on this site. Ill subscribe NOW. Thanks again. I can't get out there so ill enjoy watching you. Lol. Nice job !!!
Beautiful filming.
Eelin' with feelin'. Miss catching and cooking those
Great catch man! Love your content, keep them coming because I always look forward to you videos when they drop.
Dang man you’re killing it! First those huge halibut and now these monsters! Love your channel bro! I like that you’re the cameraman and fisherman! Not like those UA-camrs in FL that have a crew! Man, hope your channel grows! Way bette than those idiots catching fish in sewers and ponds and cameramen!! Keep it up 👍
desparately underrated channel
I love when youtube recommends me GOOD fishing channels with 3xK subs. Means you have a great channel that'll hit 100k soon.
Breaking bad with those monsters. Great video
The Monkey Faced Prickleback (Eel) is one of the finest and most pure white meats I have ever tasted. You can order it in some up market restaurants in San Francisco. It is one of the hidden gems that the Pacific Northwest offers. While it starts out as a gelatinous blob that you can barely filet, it firms up in the pan and becomes a delicacy if it is cooked right. You definitely want the bigger ones. I was a skeptic until my step son brought one home after a spearfishing day on the Oregon coast. I am now a believer.
Great video nothing more fun then catching big ling on light tackle.
Nice catch Adam! Nothing like using the real deal eel, but you should check out "reel eel" plastic swim baits. Cheers man!
“I just got two in the same hole” hahahaha that’s what she said!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Bahaaaaa
Aight
First video I've watched of yours....that hookset on that second fish was brutal!. Nice vid!
the eels we have on the east coast will tangle themselves up so bad and pull until knots crush their head
Great catch bro
My fav episode right here
Quite the reward when an idea (try using eels?) comes to fruition. Well done, those are two really nice looking Lings. Loved the hookset on the second one, great visual, I too thought "Dinosaur".
Greetings from Oregon. Great video. Nice catch.
Epic.
What a beast.
Do a catch and cook on the eel. Their bones are small enough that you don't even know they're there when you're eating them. They taste great too 😋
These lingcod way bigger than what fisherman's life catches. Good job buddy
dude that is sweet. What a cool idea.
Yes! Awesome catch bro! Striper love them eels too. How about another eel video but trying for striper? Love it! Waiting on my die hard long sleeve t! See you out there!
Nothing better than when a plan comes together
What a wow!!!!! That was great!! Could that be Jun that gave you a thoubs down?? When I get the boat going I have to give eal a try. The only live bait I have used on the charter boat is squid or dabs.
What area are you in ...tell us more about your set up...how to rig...type of pile...reel line...I just got a hayak...took it to reservoir and caught some bass ..would like to go sea fishing...novice ..who wants to learn
What a great day! What a great video! Nice job on both counts. 😁
That was awesome! Catching a giant ling off an eel... amazing. Heading out next week... tiny window in the weather. Hopefully... thanks for posting!
Nice fish Bro !! Great idea to use eels 👍. Big bait gets big fish !!😆
Love fishing. 84 ,had to sell my boat, kids scared I fall over. You need bigger boat 20 ft , hi sides. Great vid. Fla ol bank fisherman now. 🐻
This was a well put together video man, one of your best in my opinion!
My favorite bait for lings and reds is live mackerel with a 7'0 hook.
look at the number on his walky talky on 7:12
nice
Hey if you get tired of pedaling let me know! I'd love to take you on my boat for Salmon!
Good job bro
Nice Catch
What! Thats insane! Hell yea bro
Definitely give new meaning for bait now when hunting for lings
Awesome catches those lingcods went crazy by the boat
Do you run a guide service and what area of California is this?id like to fish there sometime!
A video on poke pole'n would be legit Adam. Awesome video brother. Those ling's were massive man. Dinosaur fish 🦖🦕
would love to fish with you some time I'm local so SC we should fish!!!
Nice fish.. I like it.
Who in the hell would unlike a video like this. I mean, it baffles me just thinking about it. Insane day of fishing!
@I C No.
I C no.
Instant follow from me bud! Been on friends boats/charters for years love fishing from shore but am over it! Can't afford a boat so I've been entertaining the idea of getting a Pedal drive kayak and starting off at lakes and such for awhile til I'm comfortable and finding a guide or a partner for saltwater. I'm up in Marin County so I've got access to some really nice beaches to launch from like Stinson/bolinas, and good freshwater to get comfortable in! Any tips for someone who's yet to even purchase a kayak?
What an easy girl you are, he had you at hello.😂
@@Anotherdaynparadise does that make him a hoeyak?
@@tedmaudlin5074 lol
i live on the central coast (san luis obispo) just bought a life time kayak from big 5 for 400 been having a blast ever since, scored in big sur
Awesome awesome catch bro I was hoping that you would do a catch and cook on that catch but still awesome catch 👍👍👍
Just got a kayak a while back I'm a rookie learning from you big help damn those are some studs like you said is that Half Moon Bay . I have a Berkley eel with two hooks already in it the ones you buy already pre-rigged you think that works . Nothing works like fresh bait I know I'm a mostly a sturgeon fisherman but getting into the kayak stuff thanks in advance🍻
I’m buying a new 17 foot skiff inflatable with a 5 hp motor. How do you think it handle out there in the bay?
I get nervous catching pike in a kayak, can't imagine being in the ocean catching bigger fish.
To be fair. Pike get quiet sizable!
Out of y their minds lol
I have been nervous on a 27 metre motor cat before when the weather picked up. As someone who works at sea I couldn't imagine myself doing this........very brave.
Sounds like a young Ray Romano. Neat vid, jolly good show.
